Download or read book The Watchman of Eternity written by Paul Witcover and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-03-24 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the seventh year of its war against France, England faces threats from abroad and at home, from above - and below. Buoyed by a series of military victories on land and at sea, French forces are gathering for their final push across the Channel. In Scotland, Jacobites loyal to Bonnie Prince Charlie plot to restore the Stuart dynasty to the throne. Beneath the bustling streets of London, a subterranean race prepares to rise. And in the realm known as the Otherwhere - home to dragons, demons and gods - civil war has erupted, causing a great and powerful weapon to be cast into the world. That weapon is a clock - a watch, to be precise, of a size to fit comfortably in a man's hand...a watch with a taste for blood - a mechanism that contains the doom of all that lives. Daniel Quare, of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers, was sent by his masters to find that deadly time- piece. But he was not alone in his pursuit: both the mysterious thief Grimalkin and the ruthless French spy and assassin Thomas Aylesford were on its trail. But with the help of Lord Wichcote - an aristocrat of many talents and more disguises - Quare succeeded in seizing the watch. But not for long: Aylesford took it from him - and with it, Quare's hand. And now the French spy is on his way back to his masters, Lord Wichcote lies gravely wounded and Daniel Quare has vanished . . . which would seem to mean that all hope for the world is lost...

Book excerpt: So many Christians wonder if they are living up to the high calling of Christ in our lost and dying world. How can we lay down our lives to best serve the Lord during our brief time on earth? What should be the focus of every Christian's life? Are we living and breathing for the sake of the gospel? Through a friendly and conversational style, and with many stories and Scripture verses, you will see the importance of equipping yourself with sound biblical truth to warn the lost and live in ways that adorn the gospel of Christ. We should want to encourage, bless, and speak truth boldly into the lives of everyone we meet to rescue them from God's coming wrath. These are the words and deeds that the Lord treasures because they show how real He and His love are to the world. And they are watching. The Watchmen will passionately move your heart to become a watchman for the Most High God, who blows the trumpet long and loud in the lives of the unsaved around us. The world is sleeping but must be awakened to the reality of Judgment Day that is fast approaching. We must finish strong for the Lord and take as many souls with us to heaven as possible. Everyone must be ready. Join with the watchmen of God, who lift up their trumpets to call the perishing to choose life in Christ!

Book Eternity s Sunrise

Download or read book Eternity s Sunrise written by Leo Damrosch and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2015-10-28 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: William Blake, overlooked in his time, remains an enigmatic figure to contemporary readers despite his near canonical status. Out of a wounding sense of alienation and dividedness he created a profoundly original symbolic language, in which words and images unite in a unique interpretation of self and society. He was a counterculture prophet whose art still challenges us to think afresh about almost every aspect of experience—social, political, philosophical, religious, erotic, and aesthetic. He believed that we live in the midst of Eternity here and now, and that if we could open our consciousness to the fullness of being, it would be like experiencing a sunrise that never ends. Following Blake’s life from beginning to end, acclaimed biographer Leo Damrosch draws extensively on Blake’s poems, his paintings, and his etchings and engravings to offer this generously illustrated account of Blake the man and his vision of our world. The author’s goal is to inspire the reader with the passion he has for his subject, achieving the imaginative response that Blake himself sought to excite. The book is an invitation to understanding and enjoyment, an invitation to appreciate Blake’s imaginative world and, in so doing, to open the doors of our perception.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Watchman's Book by Watchman of Day of Night "When I bring an army against a country, the people of that land choose a watchman. When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he blows the alarm to warn the people." - Ezekiel 33:2-3 (New Living Translation) Many were considering our time as the last days-the period that Christians associate with the signs of the end of the systems of things, where the Devil pulls the last of his strings to create chaos, bewilderment, discouragement, and eventual falling from the faith or being misled from the faith. It is a period prior to Judgment Day where people all over the world, including Christians, are made to stand before God and Jesus Christ, to be declared as either righteous, therefore, getting a reward, or unrighteous and thus getting the retribution. For the last days, like being in battle, God appointed Watchman of Day and of the Nightas one of His watchmen to warn the people of the impending judgment so that they may repent and eventually be saved from the wrath of God and the punishment that comes with it. One of his commission is to write a compilation of 1,240 verses from the different books of the Bible, which God had chosen Himself in a span of thirty-three years. The Watchman's Book, according to the author, is the last warning offered by God before the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. About the Author The author was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up doing farm work. He emancipated himself from home at the age of thirteen and married at the age of seventeen. Right after his marriage, he started to learn welding, which became his job for forty-five years.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My friend Ole was an intelligent curious man with a great deal of knowledge. He had never obtained what he wanted from Men so he retired and lived as a hermit, alone at the top of a church tower. I will tell you about some of the visits I made to him and try to recall his words as best I can. Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author, poet and artist. Celebrated for children’s literature, his most cherished fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Match Girl". His books have been translated into every living language, and today there is no child or adult that has not met Andersen's whimsical characters. His fairy tales have been adapted to stage and screen countless times, most notably by Disney with the animated films "The Little Mermaid" in 1989 and "Frozen", which is loosely based on "The Snow Queen", in 2013. Thanks to Andersen's contribution to children's literature, his birth date, April 2, is celebrated as International Children's Book Day.
