Book The Waste Between Our Ears

Download or read book The Waste Between Our Ears written by Gerry Gillespie and published by . This book was released on 2019-10-16 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In this book, writer, researcher and advocate Gerry Gillespie outlines how we can create a global solution, and it starts between our ears. In order to restore our world ecosystems and our vital soils, he wants to change how we think about our trash. Readers will learn why we all need to change our mind about waste management systems, how to reconnect our organic waste to local soil and food growers, and why this leads to more local jobs. With chapters about source separation, soil management and climate change, and practical approaches to zero waste, Gillespie presents a practical, logical argument for one way to save the world and grow a local economy. In economic and environmental terms, clearly explains how, if waste were collected as source-separated products, more than half of it could be returned to soils as quality compost and biological products. A very large percentage of the remainder can be put back through recycling, re-manufacturing and reusing. And it’s not just theoretical. Gillespie details how this reduction of waste is already being achieved in parts of the world and how we could do it globally ... if we could only think differently."--Back cover.

Book excerpt: For many years professional psychologists have written books about our personal mental make up. Unfortunately , and almost without exception , these works use vocabulary outside of a understanding of the average person and as a result are incomprehensible to him. We would all like to understand the structure and contents of our mind better and this book is written for them. The book is written using simple English using everyday vocabulary, augmented by IT terminology, the only language common to the whole world. This book will also enable you to understand the building blocks of your minds structure and why you think as you do , why there are apparent conflicts in your belief system, why you behave in a certain manner, how you perceive yourself, and how others perceive you. It also examines your own character and personality and explains why you are what you are. This book further explores how we speak, how we remember things, and how we interface with our five senses and with external media such as books and electronic information systems. It also explores our belief systems, why they change as we mature, and why they contain apparent dichotomies. By reading this book, you will fully understand how and why your mind functions and enable you to understand the character and behavior of others. This will enable the reader to fully understand why others say and do , as they do.

Download or read book Waste Siege written by Sophia Stamatopoulou-Robbins and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2019-12-10 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Waste Siege offers an analysis unusual in the study of Palestine: it depicts the environmental, infrastructural, and aesthetic context in which Palestinians are obliged to forge their lives. To speak of waste siege is to describe a series of conditions, from smelling wastes to negotiating military infrastructures, from biopolitical forms of colonial rule to experiences of governmental abandonment, from obvious targets of resistance to confusion over responsibility for the burdensome objects of daily life. Within this rubble, debris, and infrastructural fallout, West Bank Palestinians create a life under settler colonial rule. Sophia Stamatopoulou-Robbins focuses on waste as an experience of everyday life that is continuous with, but not a result only of, occupation. Tracing Palestinians' own experiences of wastes over the past decade, she considers how multiple authorities governing the West Bank—including municipalities, the Palestinian Authority, international aid organizations, NGOs, and Israel—rule by waste siege, whether intentionally or not. Her work challenges both common formulations of waste as "matter out of place" and as the ontological opposite of the environment, by suggesting instead that waste siege be understood as an ecology of "matter with no place to go." Waste siege thus not only describes a stateless Palestine, but also becomes a metaphor for our besieged planet.

Book The Sun the Soap Dealers and the Washing Machine

Download or read book The Sun the Soap Dealers and the Washing Machine written by Rogelio Garcia Barcala and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2005-11-16 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE SUN, THE SOAP DEALERS, AND THE WASHING MACHINE, Rogelio Garcia Barcala's follow up to both "We are carrying a Tree Right in Front of our Face", and "The Doldrums, Christ, and the Plantanism" is a real jewel in the field of biology. I was reading this book with an enormous interest. Rogelio Garcia Barcala is one of the best philosophers we have in this country, at least in the particular field of biology. This book is full of surprises. Rogelio Garcia Barcala not only is an excellent writer, and a great biologist, he is a discoverer. "The Sun, the Soap Dealers, and the Washing Machine" discovers a whole new world in the field of biology. Now we know why we "breathe, why our "brain" is called "brain", and why the "branches" of a tree are called "branches". This book comes up with so many novelties that makes you tremble. M. Book A Dictionary of Sexual Language and Imagery in Shakespearean and Stuart Literature

Download or read book A Dictionary of Sexual Language and Imagery in Shakespearean and Stuart Literature written by Gordon Williams and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2001-09-13 with total page 1650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing an alphabetical listing of sexual language and locution in 16th and 17th-century English, this book draws especially on the more immediate literary modes: the theatre, broadside ballads, newsbooks and pamphlets. The aim is to assist the reader of Shakespearean and Stuart literature to identify metaphors and elucidate meanings; and more broadly, to chart, through illustrative quotation, shifting and recurrent linguistic patterns. Linguistic habit is closely bound up with the ideas and assumptions of a period, and the figurative language of sexuality across this period is highly illuminating of socio-cultural change as well as linguistic development. Thus the entries offer as much to those concerned with social history and the history of ideas as to the reader of Shakespeare or Dryden.

Growing up certain she knew what life with God entailed, Berghoef soon found out otherwise. This vivid account, beginning in a conservative religious subculture that valued knowing the right answers over asking questions, will take readers on a voyage beyond dogmatism. No topic is off-limits, no stone is left unturned in this quest to discover what one really can know about God and faith, life and politics. In her winsome and witty style, the author candidly reveals to us her own doubts and struggles, which will leave you at times laughing, at other times in tears.
