Book The View from My Front Porch

Download or read book The View from My Front Porch written by Kay Harms and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-07-30 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you see the world from your vantage point? While few of us have put much thought into how we have developed our worldview, all of us have one. Our worldview encompasses how we see the world and how we react to it. Just as we all see the world a little differently from the vantage point of our front porches, we also view the world through different lenses affected by our past experiences, our current circumstances, the information we've been taught, and the way we wish thing to be. But as Christians we need to intentionally develop a worldview that accurately reflects the character of our God and the truth of His Word. This 4-week Bible study is a distinctly feminine approach to developing a biblical worldview. Author Kay Harms takes you to the ancient words of the Bible to frame a sound, biblical view of a modern woman's world.

Follow his life from a small town on a large lake through a war, friendships and family. Put yourself in his shoes and those of his circle. This book brings together a group of stories about people's lives as viewed from a real thought somewhat mythical place known as God's Front Porch. It's double meaning bring the reader to wonder about their own place in life. You will live inside the good and bad of mankind: laugh, cry, smile, wonder and think about what might happen next, as you are being immersed in these lives. It is not intended to suggest a Supreme Being but merely causes you to wonder 'what if'. It is a number of adventure all tied together by a common thread. The intent is to have the reader see life with a power of judgment but be careful because life is just not all that simple.

Book excerpt: Views from the Porch is designed to be just a bit of an escape from the maddening world around us. Much the same as Jesus did when He would rise well before the dawn and go out to a solitary place to pray, we need to do the same. Maybe it's your front porch, your chair in your bedroom, or your den. Maybe it's your kitchen table after the kids have gone to bed. Maybe it's in your car or on the bus on the way to work. Wherever your "alone" place is, it's important to take some time each day to spend alone with God. It is the author's hope that you will be inspired to go deeper and be drawn closer as you reflect on your spiritual walk with the Lord.

  • Author : Tommy Tenney
  • Publisher : HarperChristian + ORM

Download or read book God s Eye View written by Tommy Tenney and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2008-07-13 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In God's Eye View, Tommy Tenney explores how worship lifts us up to see the trouble we face from God's perspective instead of being trapped in an earthly, time-bound viewpoint. The higher we go, the smaller our problems seem. Tenney also teaches the Principle of Magnification: The closer you get to something, the bigger it appears. In other words, worship not only "shrinks" our problems; it also magnifies God in our lives and to others. Worship doesn't really change our problems; it just minimizes their influence over us as we focus on God. He doesn't promise to remove all of our circumstances, but God does assure us that in His presence and from His perspective--we can see things as they really are and not how they appear to be. In the book of Revelation John was instructed to "behold the Lion," but from an earthly perspective John saw only the Lamb. The heavenly perspective reveals that the Lamb is the Lion, the babe of Bethlehem is the "ancient of days," and the dragon is really a weakened lizard. God's eye view is higher than man's. Higher than a bird's eye view, higher than a man's eye view is God's eye view.

Book A Front Porch for All People

Download or read book A Front Porch for All People written by John W. Edgar and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-01-04 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers inspirational guidance for any reader who yearns to live in a sustainable mixed-income community--and cares enough to do something about it. Rev. John Edgar, the founder of the United Methodist Church for All People and Community Development for All People, tells the story of laboring alongside low-income residents across two decades to transform the South Side of Columbus into an opportunity-rich community where everyone may thrive. Starting with an outreach ministry called the Free Store, people came together and launched the Church for All People, the most diverse United Methodist congregation in the nation in terms of the intersection of race and social class. Each year, direct service ministries provide over 35,000 individuals opportunities to touch grace and experience positive transformation in their lives. Having developed over 100 million dollars of affordable housing, Church and Community Development for All People is forging a radically inclusive neighborhood, where everyone can dwell in unity on a front porch for all people. The chapters in this book set forth key principles which shaped this journey, beginning with the affirmation that scarcity is a myth and all of us dwell inside a divine economy of abundance.

Book excerpt: A clear view of the Rapture of the Church, the end of the age and the return of Jesus Christ to earth. Not only does "View From The Porch" reveal God's plan for the end of days, but also His calendar and His clock. You can read about the Divine appointments God scheduled with mankind in the past and those scheduled in the near future. Watch as the clock ticks down to mid-night in the garden of good and evil. Written to all who want to know what God has revealed about His rapture of Christians and why it could happen during the year 2020. Also written to those who need to unite with Jesus before the curtain of opportunity closes. It lays out the consequences of rejecting God. George said; "I don't expect non-Christians to rush to Amazon to purchase a book about the rapture of the Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. No, they must be given this book by a Christian friend who cares about their eternity." That is where you come in. Put this book into the hands of those you care about and want to spend eternity with. This may be family, friends, co-workers or your church congregation. As explained in the book ... time is short. We are poised at one minute to mid-night on God's prophetic clock.
