Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our world today seems to be spiraling out of control. Fears of a renewed cold war, the proliferation of nuclear weapons, fake news and disinformation, along with an impending environmental apocalypse, all combine to push us toward a sense of hopelessness and ennui. But even though it is hidden far below the surface, mankind's past is actually slowly evolving for the better. And now we find ourselves at perhaps a crucial point in our history where we have a powerful concoction made up of brilliant innovators, powerful spiritual reconcilers, and the necessary technological tools that could accelerate that path dramatically forward. All that is needed is the right catalyst to ignite this formula into an unstoppable chain reaction of peace and democratic prosperity. This is a story of how a simple indigenous man of the earth-called by the simple peaceful spirituality of his people-sparks a worldwide movement that leads to a much better planet. Combining a cast of many of today's real-life people of vision, in conjunction with the use of today's amazing technological advancements, our hero leads an epic struggle to overcome-not only the world's dark forces-but the dark forces of unworthy self-doubt within himself. We trust that you will find this simple hope-filled fantasy not really so fanciful after all, but actually quite plausible-and perhaps even inspirational and motivational.

Book A Time to Build

Download or read book A Time to Build written by Yuval Levin and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2020-01-21 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A leading conservative intellectual argues that to renew America we must recommit to our institutions Americans are living through a social crisis. Our politics is polarized and bitterly divided. Culture wars rage on campus, in the media, social media, and other arenas of our common life. And for too many Americans, alienation can descend into despair, weakening families and communities and even driving an explosion of opioid abuse. Left and right alike have responded with populist anger at our institutions, and use only metaphors of destruction to describe the path forward: cleaning house, draining swamps. But, as Yuval Levin argues, this is a misguided prescription, rooted in a defective diagnosis. The social crisis we confront is defined not by an oppressive presence but by a debilitating absence of the forces that unite us and militate against alienation. As Levin argues, now is not a time to tear down, but rather to build and rebuild by committing ourselves to the institutions around us. From the military to churches, from families to schools, these institutions provide the forms and structures we need to be free. By taking concrete steps to help them be more trustworthy, we can renew the ties that bind Americans to one another.

Book Unity on the Global Left

Download or read book Unity on the Global Left written by Barry K. Gills and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-03-24 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together a collection of essays by progressive global activists in response to Samir Amin’s call for a new global organization of progressive workers and peoples. Amin’s proposal is applauded, criticized and reformulated by these scholar-activists who are all proponents of ways forward toward a more egalitarian world society. Samir Amin, a leading scholar and co-founder of the world-system tradition, died on August 12, 2018. Just before his death, he published, along with close allies, a call for ‘workers and the people’ to establish a ‘fifth international’ to coordinate support for progressive movements. Amin, an Egyptian economist, was an intrepid intellectual and organizer of popular movements whose scholar activism provided inspiration to the global justice movement. The essays in this volume are by other prominent scholar activists who praise, critique and reconfigure Amin’s proposal in order to help humanity confront the contemporary crisis of global capitalism and move toward a more egalitarian global society. The chapters in this book were originally published in the journal, Globalizations.

Book A Free Gift That May Be Over Unity Or Free Energy to the World

Download or read book A Free Gift That May Be Over Unity Or Free Energy to the World written by Jay Lunke and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-29 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a new technology that reduces the electrical energy to operate electro-mechanical devices. When this technology is used in an electric motor, it uses 25% of the electrical energy of the older conventional motors. The technology does this by using the torque of three permanent magnets and one electro-magnet to produce positive torque through all of its operation. In addition to this there is another energy saving design using a new modified electrical tank circuit that captures a lot of the electrical energy from the collapsing magnetic field back through the electro-magnet that created the magnetic field in the first place into a capacitor. The capacitor is charged back to its full potential and then used to power the electromagnet again the next time the electromagnet is used again. These two high efficiencies in electrical energy will be among the highest in any motor system to date. The motor is not limited to rotating a shaft so that the design configurations using this technology are unlimited. The three layer technology is in modular form that can be repeated over and over again in building unlimited devices with them. The modular building blocks are great for building the motors as part of the final application device to save money for the end user of those products. Using this new technology will save on resources that are being used up on the earth today. By giving this technology freely to the world will allow the acceleration of saving the world from using up its resources. This book gives hobbyists and designers many ideas in using this new technology in creating their own products with it.

Book Exploring the World s Foundation in Christ

Download or read book Exploring the World s Foundation in Christ written by Kevin A. McMahon and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2024-05-22 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume, the first of its kind, provides both an introduction to a theologian who many in the field consider to be one of the very finest of his generation, and a compendium of selections—each with an explanatory preface—from his prolific writings that ultimately touch upon every aspect of Catholic thought. Making use of a method that is deeply rooted in the prayer life and sacred Scripture of the Church, Donald Keefe pursued a decades-long reflection on the significance of the central assertion of faith: that Jesus Christ is Lord, the author of a world that is centered on personal, hence free, life; and that Jesus the Lord is Christ, the Savior in whom broken freedom is made whole and then transformed through union with his own freedom and his own life that is at once human and divine. Union with Christ, then, is not only the destiny of the world but also its beginning. And this work of life, which is the integrating work of creation, has as its vanguard the Eucharist, the sacramental life of Christ that is born of a free priesthood acting in Christ, consecrating the free self-offering of the Church. The Eucharistic dynamism of creation reveals, so Keefe argues, the innermost structure of the real, shedding light on any human question. The many and far-reaching topics that Keefe addressed are arranged in the book under a series of chapter headings that are intended to provide an overview of the content of Catholic theology—from Christology to Mariology to ecclesiology. The result will be to convey the rich and varied fruit of a gifted mind but also, it is hoped, some sense of the man himself.
