This book was released on 2022-12-14 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the family planning and comprehensive abortion care (FP and CAC) competencies for the primary health care workforce is to advance improvements in FP and CAC service delivery by aligning health worker education approaches with population health needs and health system demands. This document, which describes these competencies in detail, is intended to: describe competencies that are relevant to current and future health practice; and enable widespread use of the competencies for curriculum development, for pre-service education, but also for in-service education, regulation, qualifications, quality assurance, personal development, performance evaluation, recruitment, management and career progression. The competencies can be used in many ways by the following target audiences: health workers and their managers, educators, policy makers and regulators. The most relevant uses for these FP and CAC competencies will be: to define the learning outcomes/objectives for education and training, to design curriculum and learning activities and to help identify learning needs/gaps (both knowledge and hands-on techniques), whether in the context of pre-service curricula, on-the-job training, or when working towards further qualifications; as performance standards for recruitment, compiling job descriptions, performance appraisal, and for optimizing roles within the health workforce.

Book Family planning and comprehensive abortion care toolkit for the primary health care workforce Volume 2 Programme and curriculum development guide

Download or read book Family planning and comprehensive abortion care toolkit for the primary health care workforce Volume 2 Programme and curriculum development guide written by World Health Organization and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2022-12-14 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Programme and curriculum development guidance presents a systematic approach to developing programmes and curricula for implementation of the family planning (FP) and comprehensive abortion care (CAC) competencies, and the theory behind the approach. Specifically, the aim is for effective implementation of these competencies in the context of pre-service education and training, post-graduate studies and continuing professional development (CPD). This guidance is designed for programme and curriculum developers who are preparing or revising formal education and training programmes and curricula for the FP and CAC workforce. This guide proposes a new FP and CAC Educational Design Model for programme and curriculum development (PCD). This model can support competency-based education (CBE) for current and future FP and CAC services, with a pre-service training pathway of at least 12 months, and can also support in-service training. With this guide, various instruments have been developed to operationalize each step of the programme and curriculum development.

Book Advancing Women s Health Through Medical Education

Download or read book Advancing Women s Health Through Medical Education written by Uta Landy and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-08-19 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neither legalization of abortion nor scientific and political advances in contraception and abortion ensure that training and research in family planning are routinely integrated into medical education. Without integration, subsequent generations of healthcare professionals are not prepared to incorporate evidence-based family planning into their practices, teaching, or research. Omission of this crucial component prevents the cultural and professional normalization of an often stigmatized and embattled aspect of women's health. Taking the successful US-based Ryan and Family Planning Fellowship programs as templates for training, teaching, and academic leadership, this book describes the integration of family planning and pregnancy termination into curricula with an international outlook. With an evidence- and systems-based approach, the book is a unique and practical guide to inspire and train the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Book The Silent Guns of Two Octobers

Download or read book The Silent Guns of Two Octobers written by Theodore Voorhees and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2020-05-12 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Silent Guns of Two Octobers uses new as well as previously under-appreciated documentary evidence to link the Cuban Missile Crisis to the Checkpoint Charlie tank standoff to achieve the impossible—craft a new, thoughtful, original analysis of a political showdown everyone thought they knew everything about. Ultimately the book concludes that much of the Cold War rhetoric the leaders employed was mere posturing; in reality neither had any intention of starting a nuclear war. Theodore Voorhees reexamines Khrushchev’s and Kennedy’s leadership, decision, and rhetoric in light of the new documentary evidence available. Voorhees examines the impact of John F. Kennedy's domestic political concerns about his upcoming first midterm elections on his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis through his use of back-channel dealings with Khrushchev during the lead-up to the crisis and in the closing days when the two leaders managed to reach a settlement.

Book China s Challenges and International Order Transition

Download or read book China s Challenges and International Order Transition written by Huiyun Feng and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2020-02-19 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China’s Challenges and International Order Transition introduces an integrated conceptual framework of “international order” categorized by three levels (power, rules, and norms) and three issue-areas (security, political, and economic). Each contributor engages one or more of these analytical dimensions to examine two questions: (1) Has China already challenged this dimension of international order? (2) How will China challenge this dimension of international order in the future? The contested views and perspectives in this volume suggest it is too simple to assume an inevitable conflict between China and the outside world. With different strategies to challenge or reform the many dimensions of international order, China’s role is not a one-way street. It is an interactive process in which the world may change China as much as China may change the world. The aim of the book is to broaden the debate beyond the “Thucydides Trap” perspective currently popular in the West. Rather than offering a single argument, this volume offers a platform for scholars, especially Chinese scholars vs. Western scholars, to exchange and debate their different views and perspectives on China and the potential transition of international order.

Book Scenes from Bourgeois Life

Download or read book Scenes from Bourgeois Life written by Nicholas Ridout and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2020-06-22 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scenes from Bourgeois Life proposes that theatre spectatorship has made a significant contribution to the historical development of a distinctive bourgeois sensibility, characterized by the cultivation of distance. In Nicholas Ridout’s formulation, this distance is produced and maintained at two different scales. First is the distance of the colonial relation, not just in miles between Jamaica and London, but also the social, economic, and psychological distances involved in that relation. The second is the distance of spectatorship, not only of the modern theatregoer as consumer, but the larger and pervasive disposition to observe, comment, and sit in judgment, which becomes characteristic of the bourgeois relation to the rest of the world. This engagingly written study of history, class, and spectatorship offers compelling proof of “why theater matters,” and demonstrates the importance of examining the question historically.
