Book An Insight into China US Competition in the Field of Artificial Intelligence

Download or read book An Insight into China US Competition in the Field of Artificial Intelligence written by Sana Gul and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2022-01-10 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Examination Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Computer Sciences - Artificial Intelligence, grade: 3.77, University of Peshawar, course: BS - International Relations, language: English, abstract: Artificial intelligence has recently emerged as a new subject of international competitiveness. In the realm of artificial intelligence, both United states and China are world leaders. The struggle between both the countries in AI will heighten mutual mistrust, accelerate the artificial intelligence arms race, and endanger geopolitical stability. This research looks at how both nations are progressing in many sectors of artificial intelligence and how Beijing is challenging America. However, there remains a gap between them in terms of artificial intelligence advancement. In the race for artificial intelligence supremacy, the United States is losing ground to China because of no long term strategy. The study examines the prospect that artificial intelligence might have an impact on the two nations' national security, as well as substantial alterations in the future power structures of the US and China. Still, China may become an emerging global power, and it is using artificial intelligence to elevate its position by sidelining the United States.

Book U S China Competition and Military AI

Download or read book U S China Competition and Military AI written by Jacob Stokes and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The advancement of military AI threatens to inject additional tensions and instability into the U.S.-China security relationship. Assessing and managing the resulting strategic risks will require keeping a close watch on Beijing’s civilian and especially military AI activities. Improving understanding of how military AI might create new pathways for crisis or conflict as new capabilities come online will likewise be essential for analysts and policymakers. In this context, reducing strategic risks will ultimately require a combination of competition and selective engagement with China. As U.S.-China relations struggle to find a stable equilibrium and AI capabilities leap ahead, the need for policymakers to grapple with the challenges presented by the interaction between these trends will continue to grow.

Book Artificial Intelligence Arms Dynamics The Case Of The U S And China Rivalry

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence Arms Dynamics The Case Of The U S And China Rivalry written by Gloria Shkurti Özdemir and published by SET Vakfı İktisadi İşletmesi. This book was released on with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has undergone rapid evolution, not only by penetrating every aspect of our life but also by transitioning from theoretical concepts to foundational components of modern military strategy. This book focuses into the heart of this evolution, focusing on the escalating AI arms rivalry between the U.S. and China. Drawing upon Barry Buzan’s theoretical frameworks, this book aims to analyze if there is an AI arms race between the U.S. and China as a part of the ongoing great power competition. Findings from the study indicate that both countries perceive AI as a pivotal element of future warfare and national security, leading to significant investments in research and development. The U.S., with its historically dominant military-technological edge, seeks to maintain its superiority through innovation and strategic partnerships. Conversely, China’s ambitious AI strategy aims to establish its leadership in AI technology by 2030, challenging U.S. dominance and reshaping the global security landscape. The analysis reveals that rather than an AI arms race where the possibility for warfare should be high, the rivalry between U.S.-China is more an “AI arms competition” with both states not willing to start a direct war with each other, at least for the short term. Furthermore, the study finds out that the AI arms competition between both states is driven by both external threats and internal motivations, however, the technological imperative -which is considered as an independent variable- is the main driving force behind this rivalry. In conclusion, the research suggests that the AI arms competition between the U.S. and China is a defining feature of contemporary international security dynamics, with profound implications for global stability.

Download or read book Global China written by Tarun Chhabra and published by Brookings Institution Press. This book was released on 2021-06-22 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global implications of China's rise as a global actor In 2005, a senior official in the George W. Bush administration expressed the hope that China would emerge as a “responsible stakeholder” on the world stage. A dozen years later, the Trump administration dramatically shifted course, instead calling China a “strategic competitor” whose actions routinely threaten U.S. interests. Both assessments reflected an underlying truth: China is no longer just a “rising” power. It has emerged as a truly global actor, both economically and militarily. Every day its actions affect nearly every region and every major issue, from climate change to trade, from conflict in troubled lands to competition over rules that will govern the uses of emerging technologies. To better address the implications of China's new status, both for American policy and for the broader international order, Brookings scholars conducted research over the past two years, culminating in a project: Global China: Assessing China's Growing Role in the World. The project is intended to furnish policy makers and the public with hard facts and deep insights for understanding China's regional and global ambitions. The initiative draws not only on Brookings's deep bench of China and East Asia experts, but also on the tremendous breadth of the institution's security, strategy, regional studies, technological, and economic development experts. Areas of focus include the evolution of China's domestic institutions; great power relations; the emergence of critical technologies; Asian security; China's influence in key regions beyond Asia; and China's impact on global governance and norms. Global China: Assessing China's Growing Role in the World provides the most current, broad-scope, and fact-based assessment of the implications of China's rise for the United States and the rest of the world.

Book Artificial Intelligence China Russia and the Global Order

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence China Russia and the Global Order written by Shazeda Ahmed and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Artificial intelligence (AI) and big data promise to help reshape the global order. For decades, most political observers believed that liberal democracy offered the only plausible future pathways for big, industrially sophisticated countries to make their citizens rich. Now, by allowing governments to monitor, understand, and control their citizens far more effectively than ever before, AI offers a plausible way for big, economically advanced countries to make their citizens rich while maintaining control over them--the first since the end of the Cold War. That may help fuel and shape renewed international competition between types of political regimes that are all becoming more "digital." Just as competition between liberal democratic, fascist, and communist social systems defined much of the twentieth century, how may the struggle between digital liberal democracy and digital authoritarianism define and shape the twenty-first? This work highlights several key areas where AI-related technologies have clear implications for globally integrated strategic planning and requirements development"--
