Book excerpt: In 1927 Watchman Nee published his spiritual classic on Christian growth and progress, The Spiritual Man. In that book Nee presents the seemingly simple biblical truth that man is composed of three parts--spirit and soul and body--as a central and necessary revelation for believers to grow and make progress in their spiritual life. In The Economy of God, Nee's closest and most trusted co-worker, Witness Lee, builds upon this foundation in order to unveil the central revelation of the Bible--that God wants to impart Himself into man for His full expression in the church. This is God's plan, God's economy. In The Economy of God, Lee clearly reveals the move of the Divine Trinity according to His economy and gives believers practical ways to cooperate with Him for the fulfillment of His eternal plan. Step by step, Witness Lee shows how to deal with obstacles to spiritual growth so that Christ may fully make His home in our hearts, that we may be filled unto all the fullness of God.

Book God s Need and God s Goal

Download or read book God s Need and God s Goal written by Witness Lee and published by Living Stream Ministry. This book was released on 2024-01-17 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is easy to understand that man has needs, but do we have a sense of God’s need? Indeed, we may even wonder, “Who has a greater need, man or God?” In this book, Witness Lee presents his burden that we would “turn our eyes from the earth to heaven to see a need that is immensely greater than man’s need—God’s need. Without seeing God’s need, it is difficult for people who do not have a sense of need to be saved. Furthermore, without seeing God’s need, it is difficult for those who are saved to have a heavenly living or to obtain power and faith. May these words lead us to see the need on God’s side so that our attention can be shifted from man to God.”

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All around us we see a world of paradox: deep ironic, and intractable. A world in which the hungry nations export food; the richest nations slip into demoralizing economic recessions; the strongest nations go to war against the smallest and weakest and are unable to win; a world in which revolutions against tyrannical systems themselves become tyrannies. In human affairs, celebrities receive still more publicity because of their knowledge of affairs only to find themselves cut off from the sources of their knowledgeable in warfare find themselves advising the government on how to win wars by using scientific knowledge.... the list is endless. Ours is a world of paradox. "John Gall" This literature was written after a long process of learning to think like a great achiever and get myself out of a non-achiever poverty mindset. Today, many American are wondering if we are headed toward a poverty driven way of living. Therefore, people are repositioning themselves for the best of times or the worst of times. As a result, the creative framework of this literature is a beginning for us to build a new mindset and reach worthwhile goals for ourselves and our communities. This book offers a systematic approach to creating a framework for organizational structure and development. This will clarify objectives for many to fulfill their mission toward their own people. Most change hungry people can grasp the important points within the text. Hopefully, at that point they gain well-timed information regarding the reality of faith. They enter into a thought-out dialogue with the writer. The mission of this book is to help bring restoration to a Nation whose Faith is At-Risk, as well as look at our economy from a spiritual perspective. With every pocket of the earth overflowing with abuses, poverty, gang violence, at risk youths, prostitution, homelessness, domestic violence, addictions, murders, suicides, fatherless children, and corruption. This is not to mention sudden death of some well known people due to careless living. They face sudden death with seemingly no regard or thought of the eternal consequences of the way they lived their lives. In an effort to carve a way for my creativity in this world of chaos and insecurities, I have learned to channel my energy into dreams and goals. This is partially how this book was born, A Nations Faith At-Risk and a Spiritual Perspective of the Economy. It is the result of a burning passion to reach the masses with the truth.

Book Biblical Economic Policy Ten Scriptural Truths for Fiscal and Monetary Decision Making

Download or read book Biblical Economic Policy Ten Scriptural Truths for Fiscal and Monetary Decision Making written by David Arnott PhD and published by AuthorLoyalty. This book was released on 2021-09-06 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does the Bible say about economics? A lot. What about socialism, which is becoming an increasingly common concern in US economic policy discussions? In Biblical Economic Policy, Arnott and Saydometov build a biblical framework for analyzing national economic policy that takes on everything from taxes to spending to tariffs to minimum wage. The Bible has something to say about all these critical present-day issues, and this book explains how to apply it to 21st-century policies. Authors Dave Arnott and Sergiy Saydometov hold up the mirror of the Bible and ask their fellow Christians, “Is this the way we're supposed to run a biblical economy?” What the book is not: ● It is NOT a financial advice book. ● It is NOT about how to apply business principles at work. ● It is NOT about stewardship or giving. ● It is NOT about how to run your business for the glory of God. Biblical Economic Policy takes the macroeconomic view and analyzes how well America's economic policies align with biblical principles. This book tackles difficult present-day economic policies, including taxes, spending, national debt, interest rates, and money supply. Written with sound biblical grounding, in accessible language, Biblical Economic Policy will turn the common reader into a biblical economic analyst.

Download or read book God s Economy written by Ronald A. McKenzie and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's Economy is a radical approach to economics based on the good news of the Kingdom of God. Everything on earth belongs to God, so all our economic activity is part of his economy, whether we acknowledge him or not. God's economy is a good economy. Since we have his ethical standards, we can describe how a good economy would function. What will produce the most wealth is not relevant. What matters for a follower of Jesus is obeying him. We want an economy that is right and good in his eyes, even if it does not function as well as other systems. It is better to be good before God than to be prosperous or wealthy. Modern economics is purely pragmatic, focusing on what will work. This book sees economic issues as ethical questions: what should be done, not what will work. Our question about every economic policy should be this: Is it morally right? Does it comply with God's word? Is it good? A good economic policy is one that complies with God's ethical standards. The irony is that the right economic policies may not achieve the goals that many politician's desire: fast economic growth or equal income distribution. However, Christians should always be advocates for the right policies, not effective policies. This book describes the Instructions for Economic Life that God gave through Moses. Jesus confirmed this guidance and adapted it for people who are loving one another in a Kingdom Community. Applying the Instructions for Economic Life will completely transform our economic behaviour and business activity. Topics include: - Unrighteous wealth - Giving and sharing - True wealth - Equality - Generous buying and selling - Sharing land - Debt - Transforming business activities - Savings and investment - Money - Problems with modern banking - Better money - Better financial institutions. Three Word Version Good economics can be expressed in three words (two in Hebrew). "Do not steal" (Ex 20:15). This is one of two universal laws that God gave through Moses. It is God's most important standard for economic behaviour. If an economic policy or practice involves stealing it is wrong. When investigating an economic problem, I ignore the symptoms and dig down to find the place where theft has occurred. This approach usually exposes the cause of economic problems, as they are mostly the result of a theft of some kind. Most of the economic teaching in the Old Testament is an application of the command prohibiting theft. Jesus' teaching about economic activity affirmed this principle. He described money that had been stolen as unrighteous wealth. Five Word Version God's economics can also be expressed in five words. "Love your neighbour as yourself" (Lev 19:18). The command was originally given by Moses as part of his instructions to the children of Israel. Jesus used this command as the heart of his teaching about economics. He said this is the second-greatest command, after loving God. "Love your neighbour as yourself" (Luke 10:27). James repeated the same command in his letter. The five-word version turns the three-word version positive. If we love people, we will not be able to steal from them. Love can guide all economic actions in the community in which we live. Jesus expanded the definition of our neighbour to include everyone whom we have contact with during everyday life. This means that our neighbour is not just those we like, or those living close by. Our neighbour is everyone we encounter while engaged in economic activity.

Book The Ministry Vol 02 No 01

Download or read book The Ministry Vol 02 No 01 written by Various Authors and published by Living Stream Ministry. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The three previous issues of The Ministry contained a series of messages entitled “Vision in God’s Economy,” comprising Brother Lee’s fellowship with the elders and co-workers in Taipei in March 1986. Following this enlightening and crucial word concerning the vision that matches the age, Brother Lee began to speak concerning the present practice in the Lord’s recovery. His speaking, which we include in this issue, was a continuation of his desperate fight, begun in October 1984, to overturn the old traditions among the churches and bring in a new way, the God-ordained way, to meet and to serve. In this message, our brother emphasizes the practice of the new way: to preach the gospel, build up the small groups, and teach the truth, while not forsaking the larger church meetings on the Lord’s Day morning. Six other messages in this issue are taken from the Thanksgiving Conference in November 1997. The general subject of this conference was “The Sevenfold Intensified Heavenly Ministry of Christ.” Christ’s work in the stage of His intensification is to intensify His organic salvation, to produce the overcomers to build up the Body of Christ, and to consummate the New Jerusalem. We must advance from a work in the stages of incarnation and inclusion to the work in the stage of intensification. The Lord’s speaking in this conference through His ministry was instant and intensified, showing us the way to become lovers of Christ, martyrs for Christ, and eaters of Christ for the ultimate consummation of God’s eternal economy, the New Jerusalem. The Lord is advancing in His move to propagate Himself in Eastern and Western Europe. In this issue we include a report on the Lord’s move there, providing some details of the work to distribute our publications, the Full-time Training in London, an international meeting of brothers, and upcoming international blending conferences in five European countries.

Book It s Tough To Be A Man In God s Economy

Download or read book It s Tough To Be A Man In God s Economy written by Dennis Wechter and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-12-23 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: " I understand that it is indeed tough to be a man in God's economy, but we are called to be leaders and to walk in Christ's footprints. Our society has a difficult time placing man in a satisfactory role that would complement the Madison Avenue advertising group or the image-makers of Hollywood. They have decided the roles of leader, head of household, faithful husband and father, and moral compass don't seem to fit anymore. This thinking is totally unacceptable and should raise flags of discontent in every Christian household. As a group in today's world, men need to take back the responsibilities that they have either given away or have had stolen from them, and collectively become the men that Jesus spoke about in his word. There is no excuse for behavior that is not pleasing to God and therefore not profitable to any man. Do not let your earthly condition dictate your spiritual position. "

Book Biblical Economic Ethics

Download or read book Biblical Economic Ethics written by Albino Barrera and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2013-08-31 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written in non-technical language accessible to non-specialist readers, this book is a theological synthesis of the findings of scripture scholars and ethicists on what the Bible teaches about economic life. It proposes a biblical theology of economic life that addresses three questions, namely: What do the individual books of Sacred Scripture say about proper economic conduct? How do these teachings fit within the larger theology and ethics of the books in which they are found? Are there recurring themes, underlying patterns, or issues running across these different sections of the Bible when read together as a single canon? The economic norms of the Old and New Testament exhibit both continuity and change. Despite their diverse social settings and theological visions, the books of the Bible nonetheless share recurring themes: care for the poor, generosity, wariness over the idolatry of wealth, the inseparability of genuine worship and upright moral conduct, and the acknowledgment of an underlying divine order in economic life. Contrary to most people’s first impression that the Bible offers merely random economic teachings without rhyme or reason, there is, in fact, a specific vision undergirding these scriptural norms. Moreover, far from being burdensome impositions of do’s and don’ts, this book finds that the Bible’s economic norms are, in fact, an invitation to participate in God’s providence. To this end, we have been granted a threefold benefaction—the gift of divine friendship, the gift of one another, and the gift of the earth. Thus, biblical economic ethics is best characterized as a chronicle of how God provides for humanity through people’s mutual solicitude and hard work. The economic ordinances, aphorisms, and admonitions of the Old and New Testament turn out to be an unmerited divine invitation to participate in God’s governance of the world. Our economic conduct provides us with a unique opportunity to shine forth in our creation in the image and likeness of God. Often extremely demanding, hard, and even fraught with temptations and distractions, economic life nevertheless is, at its core, an occasion for humans to grow in holiness, charity, and perfection.
