His formal introduction to bar life came quite by accident after his brother threw a beer mug at the owner of Mr. Henry`s Tenley Circle. There are a series of poems and stories written while working at punk, new-wave venues like the 9:30 Club`s back bar. It is impossible not to write about the sexual hunger that seems to emerge after people start drinking. Too often people get sexy then they get stupid. He also wrote about his weakness with the bottle which landed him in Albuquerque NM where he worked at the once infamous El Rey Bar. The stories speak of what is found and lost in an environment where sex, drugs, and rock and roll mix with alcohol and the crazy things people do after they have drunk more than they should. The stories evolve with age and with that changing perspective of maturity.
