Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two closely related questions receive distinctively theological answers in this study: What is truth? and How can we tell whether what we have said is true? Bruce Marshall proposes that the Christian community's identification of God as the Trinity serves as the key to a theologically adequate treatment of these questions. Professor Marshall argues on trinitarian grounds that the Christian way of identifying God ought to have unrestricted primacy when it comes to the justification of belief, and he proposes a trinitarian way of reshaping the concept of truth. Direct engagement with the current philosophical debate about truth, meaning and belief (in Quine and others) suggests that a trinitarian account of epistemic justification and truth is also more philosophically compelling than the approaches generally favoured in modern theology, as exemplified by Schleiermacher, Ritschl, Rahner and others. Marshall offers a contemporary way of conceiving of the Christian God as 'the truth'.

Book excerpt: God's Unknown Revelations are upon us, for there are many major differences between The Lord Jesus Christ our God & Christ Jesus Emmanuel our Lord, the Two that was One while on earth, but yet were Two, and They are Two in Heaven, but yet They are One as We are One with Them. In Luke 1:32 Christ Jesus Emmanuel our Lord was given his father David's throne--meaning he's David son--he was named son of David more than 15 times--but in Matthew 22:41-45 the Lord Jesus Christ our God said He's not David's Son, "If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?" If you can answer this contradiction please stop reading, if not, please read on. Also, if The Lord Jesus Christ our God was God Son before He came in the flesh, "Who is His Mother, or, how could God have a Son without a Female?" In Genesis 1:26-27 we read the Image of God is Male and Female, but we are not taught this. Why," because the Truth of God's Image will destroy Tertullian's and our doctrine of a Triune God. "In Colossian 2:2 we are told of three mysteries--the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ--and that God want us to come unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of these three mysteries. Why? Because God want us to truly know Him & Jesus Christ-John 17:3. There are two major reasons why we to this day still have debates between the Trinitarians, Unitarians, Oneness, Muslim, and Jews about whom God is-Three, Two, or One-and about who Jesus is-God or Man, or both. God's Me, Myself, and I The Truth and Ultimate Truth about the Trinity Conspiracy, answers all these questions and more in a completed, professionally edited, three part Religious Non-Fiction Apology series. Part 1 word count is 83,123 or 375 pages; Part 2 is 117,327 or 507 pages & Part 3 is 85,458 0r 375 pages.

Churches have split and dissenters have been executed over the mysterious concept of one God, three Persons. But did you know that the word Trinity never appears in the Bible? So why do we think of God this way? And how did so much disagreement arise over a concept that is not even mentioned in Scripture? A better understanding of the triune nature of God will enrich our experience of and relationship with Him. In this book Jack Hayford uses passages from both Old and New Testaments and searches out many of the names of God to clear away confusion and misunderstanding about the Trinity. Book The Holy Trinity and the Law of Three

Download or read book The Holy Trinity and the Law of Three written by Cynthia Bourgeault and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2013-07-09 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In this formula that Christians recite as though on autopilot lie the secrets for healing our world, rekindling our visionary imagination, and manifesting the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. It’s an astonishing claim, but one that is supported by Cynthia Bourgeault’s exploration of Trinitarian theology—and by her bold work in further articulating the deep truth it contains. She looks to the ancient concept in light of the ideas of G. I. Gurdjieff and Jacob Boehme to reveal the Trinity as the "hidden driveshaft" within Christianity: the compassionate expression of the Uncreated Reality in creation.

Book Divine Truth or Human Tradition

Download or read book Divine Truth or Human Tradition written by Patrick Navas and published by Author House. This book was released on 2011-07-07 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Divine Truth or Human Tradition? the author critically examines the viewpoints and Scripture expositions of prominent evangelical scholars and apologistsincluding Dr. James R. White (author of The Forgotten Trinity), Dr. John MacArthur (President of The Master?s Seminary), Wayne Grudem (author of the widely-read Systematic Theology), Robert Morey (author of The Trinity, Evidence and Issues), Robert L. Reymond (author of A New Systematic Theology of the Christian Faith), and others According to what has long been considered mainstream Christian orthodoxy, the doctrine of the Trinity (the idea that the one God of the Bible is a singular being made up of three coequal and coeternal persons?) is not only central to the Christian faith, but even necessary for one to accept in order to be counted as a true Christian and be saved. Such a demand on a Christian?s faith has come across as strange and perplexing to many, especially so in light of the fact pointed out by one respected Trinitarian: [The Trinity] is not clearly or explicitly taught anywhere in Scripture, yet it is widely regarded as a central doctrine, indispensable to the Christian faith. In this regard, it goes contrary to what is virtually an axiom [that is, a given, a self-evident truth] of biblical doctrine, namely, that there is a direct correlation between the scriptural clarity of a doctrine and its cruciality to the faith and life of the church. (Millard J. Erickson, God in Three Persons, p. 11. Emphasis added) Understandably, this fact has raised questions in the minds of Christians and truth-seekers alike ever since the doctrine was first articulated in the late 4th century. Many Christians have wondered: How can a doctrine that is not clearly or explicitly taught in the Bible be necessary to accept in order to be a true practitioner of the Christian faith?

Download or read book God Is One and Christ Is All written by Tom Raddatz and published by 1lord1faith Publishing. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In -God is One & Christ is All- the original apostle's view of Jesus Christ and his relationship to God is set forth and declared over and against the Trinity dogma. This book thoroughly exposes, in understandable language, the un-biblical nature of the Trinity. The development of the Trinity is called to account for adopting pagan, philosophical and even anti-Christian (Gnostic) views of God and Christ. The concepts underpinning the Trinity are openly listed and dealt with and compared with Biblical concepts. Ultimately, the evidence presented proves conclusively that the Trinity dogma is not a Biblical dogma. Rather, it is a man-made falsehood that is contrary to the Jesus that the apostles admonished all men to believe in for salvation. In particular the Bible clearly describes 1) God's immaterial characteristics, 2) God's descriptive names, 3) God's passion for His people, and 4) God's absolute foreknowledge. The anti-Christians rejected each one of these biblical concepts and replaced them with pagan and philosophical views. Those non-biblical views see God, instead, as 1) having a corporeal nature, 2) being unnamable (or ineffable), 3) incapable of any passion, and 4) that the divine realm is occupied with multiple, pre-existent, divine persons. In developing the Trinity dogma, men such as Justin Martyr, Tertullian, Origen, Athanasius and many others absolutely rejected the simple, biblically described, apostolic view of Christ. The ultimate goal for this book, of course, is to restore believers in Christ to the simple, pure, undiluted faith once delivered by Jesus Christ through his apostles.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than 1,500 years after the foundational church councils, the doctrine of the Trinity is still as central and as puzzling to theologians as ever. Reformed theology has seen increasing calls for the Trinity to live at the center of Christian confession, prompting the need for a fuller biblical and practical understanding of the subject. In recent Reformed thought, Cornelius Van Til and Cornelius Plantinga, Jr. have proposed important trinitarian theologies. Ralph Smith assesses these views and, filling out a Van Tilian perspective with Kuyper's lesser-known covenantal view, he provides a refreshing biblical, historical, and applicable perspective on this key Christian reality.

Book Testing the Trinity Reclaiming the Mystery of Father Son and Spirit

Download or read book Testing the Trinity Reclaiming the Mystery of Father Son and Spirit written by Shawn Stamp and published by BookLocker.com, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-12-05 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When you consider the aspects of Christianity that differentiate it from other religions, one of its most distinguishing characteristics is certainly the notion of a "triune God." This concept has been the bedrock of Christian orthodoxy for almost two millennia, and even today remains the standard by which everything claiming to be Christian is measured. Indeed, in many respects the Trinity has actually become Christianity’s defining doctrine. In addition to its singular importance, though, the Trinity is also one of the most enigmatic doctrines of the Christian faith. For even though most believers are aware of the Trinity, they would probably be hard-pressed to explain it without slipping into heresy themselves. They know it has something to do with "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit," and that the three are somehow one, but that’s about the extent of it. That being said, perhaps the most perplexing thing about this doctrine is that neither the word "Trinity" nor its central premise of "one God in three persons" can be found in Scripture! This comes as a shock to most Christians, who tacitly assume that something as essential as the Trinity must be on virtually every page of the Bible. In reality, though, the Trinity gradually took shape during the 300+ years after the close of the New Testament, a synthesis of Christian doctrine and concepts borrowed from Greek philosophical and religious systems. If you’ve ever had to wrestle with the ideas of Plato and Aristotle, you can start to appreciate why the Trinity is so hard to grasp. So in light of all this, why are we still talking about this doctrine after almost 2,000 years? It’s not in the Bible, most Christians can’t comprehend it, and yet it is deemed to be the litmus test of orthodoxy! Granted, the Trinity has been used many times over the years to vanquish some of the most serious threats that the church has faced; still, when you look at the history of this doctrine it sure feels like the early church fell into the very trap that Paul had warned them about. In his letter to the Colossians, he admonished the church to steer clear of "empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense," yet here we are. Fortunately, there is a better answer to the riddle of "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." We simply need to allow Scripture to speak for itself, rather than listening to it through its would-be interpreter, the Trinity. This is not an easy task, to be sure, since we have been so indoctrinated with the Trinity that it is hard to see anything else when we open the pages of the Bible. Nevertheless, when we set God’s tri-partite designation in the context of the Kingdom of God and the Bible’s overarching story of redemption, the truth of this phrase starts to emerge. The trick, of course, is doing that without also slipping into heresy…which is exactly what "Testing the Trinity" strives to accomplish.

Book The Claims of Truth

Download or read book The Claims of Truth written by Carl Trueman and published by Reformation Heritage Books. This book was released on 2022-01-03 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carl Trueman analyses the theology of the great Puritan theologian, John Owen, paying particular attention to his vigorous trinitarianism. To understand Owen, we need to see him as a seventeenth-century representative of the Western trinitarian and anti-Pelagian tradition. Trueman demonstrates how Owen used the theological insights of patristic, medieval, and Reformation theologians to meet the challenges posed to Reformed Orthodoxy by his contemporaries. A picture emerges of a theologian whose thought represented a critical reappropriation of aspects of the Western tradition for the purpose of developing a systematic restatement of Reformed theology capable of withstanding the assaults of both the subtly heterodox and the openly heretical. Table of Contents: 1. Owen in Context 2. The Principles of Theology 3. The Doctrine of God 4. The Person and Work of Christ 5. The Nature of Satisfaction 6. The Man Who Wasn’t There Appendix One: The Role of Aristotelian Teleology in Owen’s Doctrine of Atonement Appendix Two: Owen, Baxter, and the Threefold Office

Download or read book The Trinity Unveiled written by Cass Bernard and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2021-08-03 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most Churches teach that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are equal beings and somehow, the same God. They themselves admit, “It is a mystery beyond our comprehension.” Still however, they want us as followers, to accept this belief with faith despite the fact they cannot explain it. Because of this and the lack of support from the scriptures, do we not have every right to question it? Do the scriptures show there is a three in one God? Jesus said at John 6: 38 (NIV, bolding added for emphasis) “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.” This scripture describes two wills. If there are two wills, then there must be two beings. If one sends the other, then one is evidently in charge which means they cannot be the same or equal. Many other scriptures concur, such as 1 Corinthians 11: 3 (NIV) that reads, “... the head of Christ, is God.” The book highlights the scriptures used for support of this doctrine and includes the contexts that surround those same verses to show that the Bible does not teach a triune type of God anywhere. This book offers over one hundred scriptures that combine to prove the falseness of the teaching of the Trinity. Besides more than enough scriptural evidence, the book also brings into focus how other Bible versions render those same “Trinity” scriptures and dives into the history of this doctrine. When these things are all exposed, the Trinity fails to deliver as truth.
