Download or read book Portrait of My Body as a Crime I m Still Committing written by Topaz Winters and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2024-08-27 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In its five year anniversary edition, Topaz Winters’ Portrait of My Body as a Crime I’m Still Committing returns with ten new poems, a revised body of work, & a foreword by bestselling author Blythe Baird. An examination of desire as religion, food as compulsion, & illness as a gut reflex in the face of girlhood’s little violences, Portrait haunts the landscape of self-mythology & cuts straight into its own marrow. This book is a howl in the night, a fracture through the dark, as omnivorous & revelatory today as it was five years ago. “Must I say it to survive?” asks its speaker, balanced on the knife’s edge between confessional & manifesto. “Then I will.”

Download or read book Shadows of His Sacrifice written by Leslie Hardinge and published by TEACH Services, Inc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes questions are asked regarding the value of a detailed study of the sanctuary. Why, when we have the Christ of the New Testament, do we need to go back into the Old? I find no problem in the way of such a study. You have seen the beautiful illustrations in the books that are sold in Christian bookstores. Do you think that the artist painted these from memory? Why no! He used many models. Today these models, living and inanimate, need not sit for long hours before the artist. He simply takes a colored transparencies of the sections of his picture by posing the model for a few minutes. When he is ready to paint, he works these colored segments together, studying each part in detail. It is for a similar reason that God has given us the details of the sanctuary. We should study each part minutely. Only then will we be able to see Christ in His fullness. We can comprehend only one point at a time. Jesus is the Sacrifice. He is also the preist. He is the Shekinah, and He is also the veil. He is every whit! In order to discern the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, the Mediator of mankind, the Saviour of the race, the Redeemer--King, we must synthesize all aspects of the tabernacle. While we may spend time on one part of His ministry, we should keep in mind that He is many-sided. It is only thus that we will come to understand the One Who is altogether lovely, the chiefest among ten thousand, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Book excerpt: “A poignant expression of the durability, grace, and potential of the human spirit” set in a post-nuclear dystopia where words are worth killing for (Jean M. Auel, author of the Earth’s Children series). By the late twenty-first century, civilization has nearly been destroyed by overpopulation, economic chaos, horrific disease, and a global war that brought a devastating nuclear winter. On the Oregon coast, two women—writer Mary Hope and painter Rachel Morrow—embark on an audacious project to help save future generations: the preservation of books, both their own and any they can find at nearby abandoned houses. For years, they labor in solitude. Then they encounter a young man who comes from a group of survivors in the South. They call their community the Ark. Rachel and Mary see the possibility of civilization rising again. But they realize with trepidation that the Arkites believe in only one book—the Judeo-Christian bible—and regard all other books as blasphemous. And those who go against the word of God must be cleansed from the Earth . . . In this “thought-provoking” novel of humanity, hope, and horror, M.K. Wren displays “her passionate concern with what gives life meaning (Library Journal).
