It has not been my aim to processes or a collection of practical rules, but one in which should be welded together, in some degree at least, the practice of absolute measurements and the mathematical theory of electric and magnetic phenomena. Thus it was no part of my plan to deal with the more recondite and abstract parts of electrical theory; but I trust the work now published may prove of some help to students who may wish to proceed to those subjects.
