He has also been friends with some of the most successful people in business history, including Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Jack Welch, Rupert Murdoch, and Peter Drucker. When that happens, more bad decisions are sure to follow. This light-hearted “how-not-to” book includes anecdotes from Keough's long career as well as other infamous failures. His commandments for failure include: Quit Taking Risks; Be Inflexible; Assume Infallibility; Put All Your Faith in Experts; Send Mixed Messages; and Be Afraid of the Future. As he writes, “After a lifetime in business I've never been able to develop a step-by-step formula that will guarantee success. What I could do, however, was talk about how to lose. I guarantee that anyone who follows my formula will be a highly successful loser.”

Download or read book The Ten Commandments written by David Hazony and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-09-07 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Part memoir, part scholarship, part manifesto for a vital approach to life, David Hazony’s book tackles some of the most painful human questions that stand at the heart of who we are as modern, thinking people and offers answers that are sure to start a new discussion about the meaning of one of our most enduring, yet least understood, traditions. Across the Western World, the Ten Commandments have become a source of both inspiration and controversy, whether in Supreme Court rulings, in film and literature, or as a religious icon gracing houses of worship of every Christian and Jewish denomination. But what do the commandments really stand for? According to polls, less than half of all Americans can even name more than four of them. Fewer still can name all ten or have a clear idea of the ideals they were meant to promote. For most of us, agnostics and faithful alike, they have been relegated to the level of a symbol, and the teachings they contain are all but forgotten. In Western life today, the Ten Commandments are everywhere— except where we need them most. In The Ten Commandments, David Hazony offers a powerful new look at our most venerable moral text. Combining a fresh reading of the Old Testament’s most riveting stories and ancient rabbinic legends with a fearless exploration of what ails society today, Hazony shows that the Ten Commandments are not just a set of obscure laws but encapsulate a deeply valuable approach to life—one that is as relevant now as it was when they first appeared more than two millennia ago.

Download or read book The Ten Commandments written by Dr. Laura Schlessinger and published by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. This book was released on 1999-08-18 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ten Commandments are the first direct communication between a people and God. Designed to elevate our lives above mere frantic, animal existence to the sublime levels humanity is capable or experiencing, they are the blueprint of God's expectations of us and His plan for a meaningful, just, loving, and holy life. Each commandment asserts a principle, and each principle is a moral focal point for real-life issues relating to God, family, sex, work, charity, property, speech, and thought. Written in collaboration with Rabbi Stewart Vogel, The Ten Commandments incorporates lively discussion of the Bible and the Judeo-Christian values derived from it. Filled with passion, emotion, and profound insights, it will move, enlighten, inspire, entertain, and educate you on the meaning each commandment has in our daily lives today: I am the Lord, your God, Who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall not recognize the gods of others in My presence. You shall not take the Name of the Lord., your God, in vain. Remember the Sabbath day and sanctify it. Honor your Father and your Mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your fellow. You shall not covet.
Download or read book 10 Commandments of Successful Sales written by Rahul Mookerjee and published by 0 Excuses Fitness. This book was released on 2017-12-26 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 10 … nay, TWENTY tips that if USED correctly will catapult your sales abilities to the VERY TOP rung of ACHIEVEMENT, and keep you there. And yes – they will work in ANY sales situation, and ANY economy. Join me on this ride as I walk you through the 10 tips, each one of them power packed with info that WILL allow you to sell in ANY situation regardless of what. Did I just say 10? I think I ended up giving you more than 10 - 15 or 16, if I recall correctly, and each of THOSE tips is a gold nugget by itself. Underpromise, and OVERDELIVER. A tip unto itself and deservedly so, and that is pretty much what I have done throughout this entire book (or short course, if you so choose). In the winter of 2007, I joined a small startup company as a sales manager-cum-“senior person”. The company was a rank startup. They had literally three people working there including myself, and the other two were the HR and operations managers. The parents company a fairly successful BPO company, and they had been in business for about 8 years. They were looking to expand into web development, and they didn’t have a clue as to how to get clients, despite having a VERY successful sales manager at the helm in terms of BPO operations. He had been there since the company’s inception and probably still IS working there.Despite a lot of clients literally “coming to their doorstep”. They did a pretty good job at BPO, and a lot of those clients wanted websites built, so naturally, this company was the one they’d contact. Now, you’d think it would be child’s play to “convert” those “leads”, right? In fact, any sales person would tell you they’re basically the human version of “sitting ducks” in terms of sales. And all this was BEFORE the financial crisis of 2008, mind you. Folks were happy to spend money on things that did not have a 100% guarantee in terms of success. So it stands to reason that this sales manager should have literally converted those leads as easily as saying “voila”, especially considering some of the clients were actually ASKING him, get this, ASKING him to build sites for them. But that was not the case.He couldn’t close those leads despite months and months of follow ups, phone calls, what have you. And so after an initial interview, they hired me. And within the space of TWO weeks, I got the first client. Small fry to be honest, I think the total order was about 1000 USD, but remember this company was in India. Calculate costs etc accordingly.Within the space of SIX months, this company had expanded to 40 plus employees, and was making between 25000-30000 USD a month. I left the company at that point (which in itself is another story, and one I’ll touch upon later), but those are the results. And if you're part of the "gang" that believes it was a "fluke" or that I "just connected" - well - I have this to say to you - THINK AGAIN, my friend. It was NOT coincidence - there is no such beast as coincidence in life. It's called doing what is normally NOT done - and literally "thinking your way to RIP-ROARING sales with minimal effort". It’s information that can be gleaned only from having BEEN IN THE TRENCHES. And I’ve been there, my friend. Oh yes, I HAVE.And now, I'm willing to share it with you, my friend. Make haste and order NOW! Very best, Rahul P.S. - Still "on the fence"? Well, if you're willing to go through the frustrations of not being able to make sales despite trying EVERYTHING possible - well - be my guest and ignore this book. But if you're ready to make the leap to the NEXT - and QUANTUM level in terms of sales, then wait NO longer, my friend. Click the order button NOW and watch a whole new world open up to you. P.P.S. - And if you believe that "you've already seen it all", well, you're sadly mistaken my friend. Conventional techniques will NOT, and HAVE NOT worked as well as what I tell you in the book does. Grab your copy now, and find out!

Book excerpt: You know them. But do you understand them? The Ten Commandments have become so familiar to us that we don't think about what they actually mean. They've been used by Christians throughout history as the basis for worship, confessions, prayer, even civil law. Are these ancient words still relevant for us today? Their outward simplicity hides their inward complexity. Jesus himself sums up the entire law in a pair of commandments: Love God with all your heart, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. Peter Leithart re-introduces the Ten Commandments. He shows us how they address every arena of human life, giving us a portrait of life under the lordship of Jesus, who is the heart and soul of the commandments.
