Book Specific Heat of Copper in the Interval 0 to 50 C

Download or read book Specific Heat of Copper in the Interval 0 to 50 C written by D. R. Harper and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-02 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Specific Heat of Copper in the Interval 0° to 50° C: With a Note on Vacuum-Jacketed Calorimeters Apology is hardly necessary for another paper on the specific heat of copper, notwithstanding the large number of determina tions which have already been published. One who has need of employing a figure for this quantity and turns to tables of physical constants for it finds a discordance that is somewhat discouraging. For example, in one. Of these the few results quoted which cover a common temperature interval show discrepancies of 2 per cent and those which are not in the same interval can not be reduced to a basis of comparison because the temperature coefficients there indicated 1 vary by 60 per cent of the larger or over 100 per cent of the, smaller. Book Electrical Resistance and Critical Ranges of Pure Iron Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electrical Resistance and Critical Ranges of Pure Iron Classic Reprint written by G. K. Burgess and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-10-13 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Resistance and Critical Ranges of Pure Iron Whether or not either or both of these critical ranges, A2 and A3, are to be considered an allotropic point will depend on the definition of allotropy, about which there does not yet appear to be agreement. The reversible thermal and electrical behavior at A2 appears to be somewhat similar to that of a pure substance at its melting point, while at A3 there is a progressive change with temperature of the electrical and thermal properties which are not reversible, the reaction taking place at a higher temperature on heating than on cooling. The A3 change is certainly associated with recrystallization, while no crystallographic change has as yet been found at A2, which is also the temperature associated with the abrupt, reversible change of iron from the ferro-magnetic to the para-magnetic states. Book Copper Alloys

Download or read book Copper Alloys written by Luca Collini and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-03-07 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Copper has been used for thousands of years. In the centuries, both handicraft and industry have taken advantage of its easy castability and remarkable ductility combined with good mechanical and corrosion resistance. Although its mechanical properties are now well known, the simple f.c.c. structure still makes copper a model material for basic studies of deformation and damage mechanism in metals. On the other hand, its increasing use in many industrial sectors stimulates the development of high-performance and high-efficiency copper-based alloys. After an introduction to classification and casting, this book presents modern techniques and trends in processing copper alloys, such as the developing of lead-free alloys and the role of severe plastic deformation in improving its tensile and fatigue strength. Finally, in a specific section, archaeometallurgy techniques are applied to ancient copper alloys. The book is addressed to engineering professionals, manufacturers and materials scientists.

Book Instruments and Measurements

Download or read book Instruments and Measurements written by Helge Von Koch and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Instruments and Measurements: Chemical Analysis, Electric Quantities, Nucleonics and Process Control, Volume I covers the proceedings of the Fifth International Instruments and Measurements Conference, held in Stockholm, Sweden on September 13-16, 1960. Separating 120 lectures into 49 chapters, this book is divided into five sections. The first section discusses the advances in automatic process control instrumentation, including developments in pneumatic, electropneumatic, and electrohydraulic control. This section deals also with the stability, optimization, and use of fast digital computer for process control applications. The subsequent two sections consider the physical methods of chemical analysis and nuclear instrumentation. These sections survey the developments in gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and quadrupole mass filter for chemical analysis. These topics are followed by discussions on some structural and analytical applications of high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance. The remaining sections explore the measurements of electric and magnetic quantities, as well as the reactor control. These sections are devoted to X-ray methods, UV spectroscopy, turbidimeter, and infrared techniques. Analytical chemists, process and instrumentation engineers, and researchers in instruments, chemical analysis, and process control fields will find this book invaluable.

Book Fundamentals of Electric Propulsion

Download or read book Fundamentals of Electric Propulsion written by Dan M. Goebel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-12-22 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout most of the twentieth century, electric propulsion was considered the technology of the future. Now, the future has arrived. This important new book explains the fundamentals of electric propulsion for spacecraft and describes in detail the physics and characteristics of the two major electric thrusters in use today, ion and Hall thrusters. The authors provide an introduction to plasma physics in order to allow readers to understand the models and derivations used in determining electric thruster performance. They then go on to present detailed explanations of: Thruster principles Ion thruster plasma generators and accelerator grids Hollow cathodes Hall thrusters Ion and Hall thruster plumes Flight ion and Hall thrusters Based largely on research and development performed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and complemented with scores of tables, figures, homework problems, and references, Fundamentals of Electric Propulsion: Ion and Hall Thrusters is an indispensable textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students who are preparing to enter the aerospace industry. It also serves as an equally valuable resource for professional engineers already at work in the field.
