Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various models have been developed to address the ordinary hadronic physics that occurs in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. These include string-based fragmentation models such as the LUND model, and its extensions in FRITIOF, which assume that excited hadrons behave as a chain of color dipoles that move like one-dimensional relativistic strings. Interactions are introduced via multiple small momentum exchanges between the color dipoles of two overlapping strings. Other nondynamical models are the dual-parton model, in which the strings are formed by soft gluon exchange between the valence partons of the colliding hadrons. The quark-gluon string model, also based on the dual parton model, has been developed to study soft parton collisions, and includes rescattering. The strings in the above models are in fact one-dimensional constructions in momentum space, and string evolution is carried out in this space. We have developed a real-time dynamical model for studying the inclusive properties of hadronic collisions in three-dimensions. The model is based on the Nambu-Goto string description of hadrons supplemented by extensions to incorporate the basic features of the parton model, together with a hadronization mechanism. The advantage of having a fully dynamical model is the possibility to explore the detailed time evolution of the hadronic matter. Furthermore, since the model is fully three dimensional, all of the transverse degrees of freedom are available to the evolving system. The model has been successfully applied to the study of high-energy ee−, pp, [mu]p, and [mu]A collisions. These calculations have been used to fix all of the parameters present in the model. For all of the calculations presented here, the model parameters have been held fixed at their predetermined values.

Book A Dynamical Picture of Hadron hadron Collisions with the String parton Model

Download or read book A Dynamical Picture of Hadron hadron Collisions with the String parton Model written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We introduce a dynamical model for the description of hadron-hadron collisions at relativistic energies. The model is based on classical Nambu-Goto strings. The string motion is performed in unrestricted four-dimensional space-time. The string endpoints are interpreted as partons which carry energy and momentum. We study ee−, e -- p, and p -- p collisions at various center of mass energies. The three basic features of our model are as follows. An ensemble of strings with different endpoint dynamics is used to approximately reproduce the valence quark structure functions. We introduce an adiabatic hadronization mechanism for string breakup via q{bar q} pair production. The interaction between strings is formulated in terms of a quark-quark scattering amplitude and exchange. This model will be used to describe relativistic heavy-ion collisions in future work. 28 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab.

Book Introduction To High energy Heavy ion Collisions

Download or read book Introduction To High energy Heavy ion Collisions written by Cheuk-yin Wong and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-09-30 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written primarily for researchers and graduate students who are new in this emerging field, this book develops the necessary tools so that readers can follow the latest advances in this subject. Readers are first guided to examine the basic informations on nucleon-nucleon collisions and the use of the nucleus as an arena to study the interaction of one nucleon with another. A good survey of the relation between nucleon-nucleon and nucleus-nucleus collisions provides the proper comparison to study phenomena involving the more exotic quark-gluon plasma. Properties of the quark-gluon plasma and signatures for its detection are discussed to aid future searches and exploration for this exotic matter. Recent experimental findings are summarised.

Book Introduction to Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics

Download or read book Introduction to Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics written by Jerzy Bartke and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to cover the fascinating field of physics of relativistic heavy ions, mainly from the experimentalist's point of view. After the introductory chapter on quantum chromodynamics, basic properties of atomic nuclei, sources of relativistic nuclei, and typical detector set-ups are described in three subsequent chapters. Experimental facts on collisions of relativistic heavy ions are systematically presented in 15 consecutive chapters, starting from the simplest features like cross sections, multiplicities, and spectra of secondary particles and going to more involved characteristics like correlations, various relatively rare processes, and newly discovered features: collective flow, high pT suppression and jet quenching. Some entirely new topics are included, such as the difference between neutron and proton radii in nuclei, heavy hypernuclei, and electromagnetic effects on secondary particle spectra.Phenomenological approaches and related simple models are discussed in parallel with the presentation of experimental data. Near the end of the book, recent ideas about the new state of matter created in collisions of ultrarelativistic nuclei are discussed. In the final chapter, some predictions are given for nuclear collisions in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), now in construction at the site of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva. Finally, the appendix gives us basic notions of relativistic kinematics, and lists the main international conferences related to this field. A concise reference book on physics of relativistic heavy ions, it shows the present status of this field.

Book Ultra relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions in a Multi string Model

Download or read book Ultra relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions in a Multi string Model written by and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a model for ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions based on color string formation and subsequent independent string fragmentation. Strings are formed due to color exchange between quarks at each individual nucleon nucleon collision. The fragmentation is treated as in ee− or lepton nucleon scattering. Calculation for pp, pA, and AA were carried out using the Monte Carlo code VENUS for Very Energetic Nuclear Scattering (version 1.0). 20 refs., 6 figs.

Book Phenomenology Of Ultra relativistic Heavy ion Collisions

Download or read book Phenomenology Of Ultra relativistic Heavy ion Collisions written by Wojciech Florkowski and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2010-03-24 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an introduction to main ideas used in the physics of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The links between basic theoretical concepts (discussed gradually from the elementary to more advanced level) and the results of experiments are outlined, so that experimentalists may learn more about the foundations of the models used by them to fit and interpret the data, while theoreticians may learn more about how different theoretical ideas are used in practical applications. The main task of the book is to collect the available information and establish a uniform picture of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The properties of hot and dense matter implied by this picture are discussed comprehensively. In particular, the issues concerning the formation of the quark-gluon plasma in present and future heavy-ion experiments are addressed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ladies and Gentlemen, dear colleagues, Welcome in Bodrum to the NASion Hot and Dense Nuclear Matter! Welcome also to Mrs. Governor Dr. Lale AYTAMAN. We are very honored, that you, Governor of the Mugla-State, came here to greet us. We are particularly grateful to you that you offered help and assured us to do everything that we can enjoy two safe weeks in Bodrum, in this wonderful area of your country. I have chosen Bodrum as the place for our NASI because I like this historic region where many cultures meet (e. g. , Oriental and European (Greek, Roman) culture) and where you find numerous places which played a role in ancient science and in early Christianity- I mention Milet (Thales) and Ephesus (Apostle Paulus), both of which are close by. Our NASI will exhibit the most recent developments in high energy heavy ion physics. The meeting is both a school and a conference: A school, because there are very many advanced students, who frequently are themselves already top researchers, attending the lectures of distinguished scientists and leading researchers. It is also a conference because new material, new results of this exciting and wonderful field - our field - high energy heavy ion physics will be presented. It is the topic of hot and dense nuclear matter, which we are focusing on.
