Download or read book Petroleum Geology of the Upper Jurassic Lower Cretaceous of East and North East Greenland written by Jon R. Ineson and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The exposed Jurassic succession in East and North-East Greenland has long been presented as an analogue for equivalent deeply buried strata on the Norwegian conjugate shelf and offshore North East Greenland. In particular, the Upper Jurassic marine mudstone succession is often ascribed source-rock potential as proven from coeval rocks on the Northwest European margin. Previous outcrop investigations have not convincingly confirmed this potential, however, and three boreholes were drilled between 2008 and 2010 to provide full coverage of the Upper Jurassic - Lower Cretaceous petroleum source-rock succession in eastern Greenland. The Blokely-1 borehole was drilled in 2008 in central Jameson Land to investigate the Middle Oxfordian - Lower Volgian Hareelv Formation, representing the lowermost part of the composite source-rock succession. The common aim of the collection of eight scientific papers in this bulletin, introduced by an account of the technical and logistic challenges of the drilling operation, is to document the significance of the Hareelv Formation in a petroleum geological context. Papers on the biostratigraphy, sedimentology, provenance and diagnesis establish the framework and geological history of the succession while companion papers on the source-rock potential, burial and exhumation history and igneous intrusive activity in the region contribute to an improved understanding of the petroleum geology of the Jameson Land Basin.

Download or read book Metallic Resources 1 written by Sophie Decrée and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-02-13 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metallic resources play a huge role in many fields: in the energy transition, the development of new technologies and the production and storage of green energy. Metallic Resources 1 presents various studies in notable European metallogenic regions or deposits that enable us to tackle the question of the concentration of metals, especially strategic metals, in various geodynamic settings. An understanding of the geological processes that lead to the formation of deposits and influence their concentrations in the Earth's crust is of the utmost importance when it comes to uncovering new mineral resources. This book puts forward various different methodological approaches necessary in the study of deposits of metallic resources, from field observations to microanalysis. A study of specific geo-politico-economic frameworks is also presented.

This book was released on 1980 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paleogeographic changes in the United States during Jurassic time are revealed by the distribution, succession, and differentiation of molluscan faunas; by gross stratigraphic changes; by the position, extent, and duration of unconformities; and by comparisons with Jurassic data elsewhere in North America.

Download or read book The Jurassic of North east Greenland written by Lars Stemmerik and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Jurassic sedimentary succession in East and North-East Greenland reflects deposition during the early stages of rifting between Greenland and Norway. Jurassic sediments are exposed over a distance of more than 600 km, from Jameson Land in the south to Store Koldewey in the north, and form one of the best-known exposed ancient rift successions. This collection of papers deals with stratigraphic and depositional aspects of the Middle-Upper Jurassic sediments from isolated and less well-known localities outside the main outcrop areas.
Download or read book Stratigraphy Sedimentology and Depositional Environments of the Coal bearing Jurassic Cretaceous Kootenay Group Alberta and British Columbia written by D. W. Gibson and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strata of the Kootenay Group are of economic interest because of their potential as important sources of thermal and metallurgical coal in Western Canada. This bulletin provides substantial new information and data on the Kootenay Group in the form of text, isopach maps and cross-sections, and numerous illustrations of lithofacies, lithofacies relationships, age, correlation, rank, distribution and continuity of coal seams, sedimentology, and the major environment of deposition in the Rocky Mountain Foothills and Front Ranges. A regional geological model is presented that will be of assistance in assessing the quality and potential of coal resources in the Kootenay Group in Alberta and British Columbia.
