Book excerpt: The determination of minor elements in zinc, lead, and copper sulphide concentrates is described. The procedure involves the dissolution of the sulphide concentrate by fusion with sodium peroxide, acidification, with nitric acid, and measurement of the elements by atomic-absorption spectrophotometry. The method of standard additions is used to eliminate interference. The procedure is applicable to the analysis of ten elements at concentrations varying from 50 to 1000 ppm in the samples, with an accuracy of between 2 and 4 per cent.
