Based in part on the author's own life, and reading as stylized fiction, "Stifle" kidnaps the reader from the first page, then holds them hostage as they embark on a journey to bi polar hill country, where Violet Cussins is holed up in her room, contemplating suicide. Once a "good apple", but now bitter as bile and rotten to the core, we see the events that have blighted her soul, and brought her to suicidal desperation. Shockingly graphic, compellingly written, "Stifle" is book of sadness and madness that will haunt. Illustrated by L. E. Mae with ethereal sketches, and told with caustic nostagia, "Stifle" is a gripping, gutty book that has "BEST SELLER" written into it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INTRODUCTION My name is David Albert Francis. However, I am known in the music world as “Panama” Francis, a name that was given to me by Roy Eldridge when I joined his band in 1939. I was born in Miami, Florida, on December 21, 1918, four days short of becoming a Christmas present to my parents. I must tell you that I am a stutterer. Sometime, when I get excited or try to make a point, my voice goes up about two octaves. I come across to some people as being angry but, believe me, this [what?] is how I get the words to flow. My facial expression might appear to you to be an angry expression. What is happening is that I am concentrating on getting the words to come out, without interruptions. I am sick now from twenty years of life on the board, riding on a bus for hours on end, eating unhealthy (and sometimes unsanitary?) food, and traveling 300 to 500 miles at a time without a bathroom break. The current health of bodies of my fellow musicians and I bear witness to the pain and suffering we experienced on the road. I am among many, many musicians who are paying now for these deplorable conditions on the road. We have serious health ailments that are directly attributable to what we experienced on the road and have negatively impacted the very days of our lives when we should be reaping the benefits of our long years of hard work. We are paying the price.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate Change Education: Reimagining the Future with Alternative Forms of Storytelling offers innovative approaches to teaching about climate change through storytelling forms that appeal to today’s students—climate fiction and protest poetry, fiction and documentary films, video games and social media. The stories are used as exemplars, from exploring space debris to urban design planning to fast fashion, and they provide entry points for investigating particular aspects of climate science, including the local and global impacts of a warming planet. Each chapter provides analyses and strategies for fostering climate (and space) literacy through knowledge, empathy, and agency. Contributors from around the world encourage educators to answer students’ calls for comprehensive K–12 climate education by aligning pedagogy with real-world challenges in order to prepare students who understand the myriad injustices of the climate crisis and feel empowered to confront them. They share their own stories and urge educators to join the growing, hopeful movement for action, classroom by classroom.
