Download or read book Essential Guide for Sistahs of Zion EGSZ written by Akua Yah and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-07-08 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spirituality is the human capacity to know YAH and experience YAH and the degree to which you reflect that knowledge and experience. To say you are spiritual and know that God is love, life, and light and when people encounter you and there is no love, life, and light, then how can you call yourself spiritual? No one but YAH can see what is in your heart, but we can judge the fruit of our tree. We can teach about how we should represent Christ on the outside from his word, but we cannot judge anyone who does not follow his word if we are not following it ourselves. YAHUSHA HA'MASHIACH (Jesus the Messiah) is coming back for a redeemed church-his bride-that he himself has washed clean and purchased through his sacrifice on the cross. We have to work on the inside and outside to truly reflect his nature and be that glorious bride.
Download or read book In The Company Of My Sistahs written by Angie Daniels and published by Kensington Publishing Corp.. This book was released on 2006-02-01 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From acclaimed author Angie Daniels comes an exciting new novel that asks: Exactly how much trouble can four sexy, sassy, and stubborn women get into when they spend a week in Jamaica together? The answer: Plenty. . . For years, Lisa Miller has been living the good life--and watching her sister, Renee, and their childhood friends search for happiness of their own, usually in the form of a man. Tired of standing by while they waste their time looking for love in all the wrong places, Lisa has planned a vacation in Jamaica with them. She has some bad news to break, but she hopes her own heartache will make a difference in the lives of the women she loves. . . Renee Moore is a twice-divorced romance writer and mother of two who plans to use her time in Jamaica sipping Rum Punch, sun-bathing, and finding that perfect fling. After all, the friends have agreed: what happens in Jamaica stays in Jamaica. Attorney Nadine Hill may have it together professionally, but personally, she's a mess. Maybe because she's been fighting her true desires for too long--desires that may include an attraction to women. The daughter of a Baptist minister, Kayla Sparks dreams of marrying a man of the church. When a handsome Reverend walks into her life, she thinks he is a gift from God. . . But his wife would probably disagree. Through laughter, tears--and a few squabbles--one by one these ladies will start to look at themselves, their lives, and their futures, in a whole new way.
Download or read book African American Vernacular English as a Literary Dialect written by Sophia Huber and published by Herbert Utz Verlag. This book was released on 2018-06-13 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knowledge about one’s linguistic background, especially when it is different from mainstream varieties, provides a basis for identity and self. Ancestral values can be upheld, celebrated, and rooted further in the consciousness of its speakers. In the case of African American Vernacular English (AAVE) the matter is not straightforward and, ultimately, the social implications its speakers still face today are unresolved. Through detailed analysis of the four building blocks phonology, morphology, syntax, and vocabulary, Sophia Huber tries to trace the development of AAVE as a literary dialect. By unearthing in what ways AAVE in its written form is different from the spoken variety, long established social stigmata and stereotypes which have been burned into the consciousness of the USA through a (initially) white dominated literary tradition will be exposed. Analysing fourteen novels and one short story featuring AAVE, it is the first linguistic study of this scope.

Download or read book SistahFaith written by and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-02-02 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ashamed No More Every woman needs a safe place to bleed...a quiet place to scream, and friends to dress her wounds. She needs the support of sistahs who won't cringe at the honest truth, who are willing to walk by her side, who will listen to her stories, and who will offer balm to heal her wounds. This collection of poignant, true stories honestly reflects the humiliation that countless women experience every day at the hands of people who are supposed to love them. Drawing from the biblical story of Tamar, who was raped and disgraced by her own brother, spiritual truths of hope, healing, and new beginnings are highlighted in every story. Among the women who have shared their stories of truth and triumph are Bonnie DeBarge of the famed Motown group the DeBarges, award-winning novelist Sharon Ewell Foster, and author Claudia Mair Burney. Most women endure in silence -- afraid to tell the truth, held captive by their disgrace. But here, in these pages, they have told the truth, they have lifted their skirts to show their scars, and most important of all -- they have found redemption, hope, and new life. Your Own SistahFaith Circle: In addition to sharing beautifully written stories and poems, this book shows you how to gather your own group of sistahs, and each chapter includes discussion questions that will help your gathering of sistahs journey past the shame, beyond rejection, and straight to the heart of God.

What Brothers Think, What Sistahs Know is the first book for African Americans that decodes the inscrutable ways of the opposite sex. In this funny, honest, provocative book, Millner and Chiles step across the great divide to create--once and for all--real understanding between sistahs and brothers. They give the real deal on: * The perfect date * Why brothers think all sistahs are angry * Why so many men could run down Michael Johnson in an effort to escape commitment * Whether it's fair for sistahs to scream when brothers chase white girls * Why good sex matters What Brothers Think, What Sistahs Know covers everything from first dates to lasting commitments, from myths and misunderstandings between brothas and sistahs to the kind of communication that fosters love and respect. It reveals, for the very first time, the motivations and fears coursing through that warm-blooded animal on the other side of the bed.

Download or read book Chick Lit written by Suzanne Ferriss and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the bestselling Bridget Jones's Diary that started the trend to the television sensation Sex and the Citythat captured it on screen, "chick lit" has become a major pop culture phenomenon. Banking on female audiences' identification with single, urban characters who struggle with the same life challenges, publishers have earned millions and even created separate imprints dedicated to the genre. Not surprisingly, some highbrow critics have dismissed chick lit as trashy fiction, but fans have argued that it is as empowering as it is entertaining. This is the first volume of its kind to examine the chick lit phenomenon from a variety of angles, accounting for both its popularity and the intense reactions-positive and negative-it has provoked. The contributors explore the characteristics that cause readers to attach the moniker "chick" to a particular book and what, if anything, distinguishes the category of chick lit from the works of Jane Austen on one end and Harlequin romance novels on the other. They critique the genre from a range of critical perspectives, considering its conflicted relationship with feminism and postfeminism, heterosexual romance, body image, and consumerism. The fourteen original essays gathered here also explore such trends and subgenres as "Sistah Lit," "Mommy Lit," and "Chick Lit Jr.," as well as regional variations. As the first book to consider the genre seriously, Chick Lit offers real insight into a new generation of women's fiction.
