Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows how easy it is to live as a child of the Most High God! It has nothing to do with any type of religion or tradition of men, but it is the true word of God. His simple plan or purpose to redeem man from hell. Man was incapable of delivering himself so God made all the provisions. Man has only to accept that which was done on his behalf at calvary. Under the law it was do and live, but now under grace it’s believe and live. Jesus has already finished the work in fulfilling the law that was against us. He made the way so we may walk therein and live. Acts 8:37…And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Romans 10:9-10…That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Book excerpt: The Gospel of Jesus Christ is Simple; But It's Not Simplistic! "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." John 5:39 Although The Simple Gospel is a compilation of articles and essays written by Jon Cardwell while serving as a missionary-pastor in remote bush Alaska (2002-2008), the hope behind this little book is to exhort earnest Bible reading, study and meditations among Christians in these dark times; and further, to encourage an eye upon the scriptures from a perspective that is gospel honoring, Christ exalting, and God glorifying. Jon has often said from the pulpit, "The gospel of Jesus Christ is simple; but it's not simplistic." In other words... The gospel is easy enough for a child to understand; nevertheless, the propositions of the gospel are eternal truths and, therefore, infinitely glorious. As fallen men, even those redeemed by God's grace in Jesus Christ, have a propensity toward sin and a tendency toward good works accomplished in the flesh, the only remedy for today's Christian is to stay rooted and grounded in gospel faith, drawing nearer to God in the revelation of Jesus Christ from the scriptures. The entire Bible is about the Person and work of Jesus Christ: who He is and what He has done, is doing, and will do, unto God's great glory. This treatise is something of a sequel to the bestseller, Christ and Him Crucified. WHAT YOU'LL FIND INSIDE It begins with "The Simple Gospel," explaining the Incarnation, Crucifixion, Resurrection, Ascension, and Restitution in Christ's return. Next is an exposition of Romans 3:21-27 in a chapter titled, "Propitiation through Faith." The third chapter, "The Sign of Jonah," may be a little edgy for some as it explains a Wednesday crucifixion from scriptural proofs. "The Shroud of Turin" is the fourth chapter, an article that expresses, from the scriptures, why the Turin shroud could not be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The fifth chapter, "The Chief End of Man," may step on a few toes as it not only provides a brief lesson in Biblical hermeneutics while presenting man's true and Biblical purpose, but it also presents the "felt needs" approach to church growth as unbiblical and logically unsound. "The Trouble with Traditions of Men" refutes some modern "Christian traditions" while presenting the importance of clinging to the truth of Christ crucified from the scriptures. Next, "The Mystery of God," presents the gospel of Jesus Christ through some oft overlooked prophetic scriptures in Genesis. "You Must Be Born Again," springing from Christ's comment to Nicodemus in John 3:3, presents the reality of regeneration in the soul saved by grace through faith. Finally, the book is capped off with "A Glimpse of Eternity." Artistic paintings and photographs have also been included in this work to aid you in understanding some of the points presented. Which none of the princes knew; for had they know it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory." To those at Rome he says, it is "the mystery which was kept secret since the world began; but is now, made manifest by the scriptures of the prophets." Struct blind on the road to Damascus, Saul returns from the desert, as the new man Paul. He tells the believers at Colossae: "Whereof, I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given to me for you, to fufil the word of God; even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints." The mystery, which Paul reveals wihin his letters, is the key to understanding every story, every parable, and the intent of God's every intervention into the lives of men. Those letters entice believers to search for the "mystery of his will;" no longer hidden, they now reveal the "mystery of godliness." Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus tells us that if one desires to be his disciple, they must "deny himself and take up his cross and follow me" (Mark 8:34). But what does it mean to take up your cross, and how can we do this? The apostle Paul said that he "desired to know nothing...except Jesus Christ and him crucified" (1 Corinthians 2:2) and elsewhere even claimed to "have been crucified with Christ" (Galatians 2:20). How can one join Paul and know Jesus in his Crucifixion? The answer is to take Jesus at his word. From the cross, Jesus spoke seven times. These sayings summarize the gospel and explain how we can know him in his Crucifixion. On the cross, Jesus was literally Dying to Tell You how his death fulfilled God's eternal plan for our redemption. Unlike other studies of the "last sayings" of Jesus from the cross, Dying to Tell You takes a new approach and views the sayings together as a whole, revealing how together they form the foundation to understanding the gospel of Jesus. Originally motivated to seek a resolution to the dilemma of which saying is the last (both Luke and John appear to report the last saying), Dying to Tell You establishes a new order for the sayings based on a detailed examination and integration of the four Crucifixion narratives contained in the Gospels. While each saying is individually examined, rather than handling them as isolated statements, Dying to Tell You demonstrates how these sayings comprise the final message of Jesus, his sermon on the cross. Along the way, Dying to Tell You also provides assurance that the Bible can be trusted and is a historically accurate resource; demonstrates that the cross is the centerpiece of redemptive history; and illustrates how Jesus and the Crucifixion serve to fulfill the scriptures and provide for the salvation of mankind. Dying to Tell You is nothing less than one disciple's spiritual awakening and quest to know "Jesus Christ and him crucified" through the sayings he made from the cross and gospel they proclaim.

Book excerpt: Have we minimized the message of the cross in an attempt to seem more relevant to an increasingly modern world? Instead of conforming to the image of Christ, have we tried to conform Christ to agree with our image, our lifestyle, and our culture? How does our understanding of truth and love affect our view of the Lord and ourselves? Does our life ultimately line up with the scripture? Do the ways we do our church line up with what Jesus had in mind when he established the church? Do we set the margins for how we live by the climate of our culture or from the scriptures?

This is a question that many individuals, even Christians, often ask and the answer is simple: the gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ and the way of salvation that is offered through Him. Yet in this simple answer lies profound truths as the gospel, far from being something that someone only needs to hear once, continues to be the central element in the life of the Christian. In these pages, McKinlay takes the reader on a journey through the meaning of the gospel so that believers can better understand what the gospel fully entails.

Book The Gospel of Christ and Him Crucified

Download or read book The Gospel of Christ and Him Crucified written by Jerry Beaird and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2022-04-04 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My desire in writing this book is to help those who want to know Jesus in a more personal and intimate way by building on the spiritual foundation of Christ and Him crucified. These spiritual truths are necessary for any spiritual growth and understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ. Don't just point to Jesus and simply tell me I need Him but show me how to actually grab hold of Him. In these few brief pages, I want to share with you about growing in spiritual maturity built upon the gospel foundation of Christ and Him crucified, so that may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the knowledge of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death (Philippians 3:11). Our foundation should be built on the gospel of Christ and Him crucified, taught by The Holy Spirit, through faith, so that God's work might be perfected in us by His grace. I hope that this book will bless you and instill a hunger and desire to know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The scriptures act like a mirror that reflects Christ back at us as the Holy Spirit reveals Christ to us. Unless we approach the Word of God in faith looking for Christ then there is nothing to reflect back at us, except what we see by our carnal unrenewed minds. But we with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Lord (2 Corinthians 3: 18). The Lord wants you to know Him. We have many things to say; today if you will hear His voice. In Christ The Son jerry

Book excerpt: In 1570, at the request of Edmund Grindal, Bishop of London, John Foxe preached a sermon at Paul's Cross, which was an open-air pulpit {on the grounds of St. Paul's Cathedral} of mostly timber with room for 3 or 4 inside it, set on stone steps with a lead-covered roof and a low surrounding wall. From here was preached much of the English Reformation, with sermons preached here usually printed and thus redistributed to a wider audience. This lofty exposition of the Protestant doctrine of redemption and attack on the doctrinal errors of the Papist Church was enlarged and published that year as A Sermon of Christ Crucified. "To know the crucified sacrifice of Christ's body to be a perfect deliverance of all his people, to be a full satisfaction once, and for ever, for all our sins - to be a free justification, redemption, and righteousness before God for ever, to all them that believe in him, without any other means or help adjoined to him - this is to know Christ Jesus crucified." Foxe.

  • Author : Klaas Schilder

  • Release : 2001-11
  • ISBN : 1589602552
  • Pages : 560 pages

Download or read book Christ Crucified written by Klaas Schilder and published by Sovereign Grace Publishers,. This book was released on 2001-11 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These superb works are without equal in modern literature. Schilder ''brings the reader into touch with the spiritual and temporal forces which converged during the Passion Week. He is careful to keep Christ central, and he blends in a masterful way this culmination of our Lord's earthly life with historical facts and psychological realities'' (Cyril Barber, The Minister's Library). Schilder was a noted Dutch scholar of the early twentieth century. The three volumes of this work were translated by Henry Zylstra. They first appeared in 1937. The three volumes cover three aspects of the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus Christ. They are entitled: Christ Crucified, Christ in His Suffering, and, Christ On Trial. In The Minister's Library, Cyril Barber states: ''Theologically accurate, abounds in suggestive insights, and provides exegetical illumination for a score of Easter sermons. It is a classic treatment on the passion of Christ. [It} deserves a place in every pastor's library. [The three volumes} cover the night of His betrayal to His condemnation . . . [it is] a learned, accurate treatment.'' That says a lot about this unique, very important work. It is simply indispensable to the understanding and feeling of the power of the passion of Christ. To put it into the words of the Apostle Paul, all should feel as he did, ''[Oh that I might] ''be found in Him . . . to know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, having been conformed to His death, if somehow I may attain to a resurrection out of the dead'' (Philippians 3:9-11). Through the guidance and inspiration of God the Holy Spirit Schilder has captured the drama and the pathos of Christ's ordeal, and yet also passes on to the reader the triumph and the exultation of Christ as He completes His voluntary submission to the Father's will: ''Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but You prepared a body for Me. You did not delight in burnt offering and sacrifices concerning sins. Then I said, Lo, I come in the heading of the Book it was written concerning Me, to do Your will, O God'' (Psalm 39:6-9; Heb. 10:5-7). No child of God is completely mature until he or she has gone to Gethsemane and followed the trail of Christ as He approached the hour when He must endure unspeakable humiliation, pain, and the suffering of momentary loss of the Father's presence with Him. It is no wonder that He sweat blood at the prospect, for He was not ignorant of what He must go through in order to provide salvation for His sheep: ''The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep'' (John 10:11). No one will better draw you down to the depths of this drama, a scene which only one Person could have endured, than Schilder. You will not be the same after you have followed Christ through these stirring looks that Schilder gives you - you will be a better Christian, by far. This is a Best Set in Print. Schilder was a man of many gifts, without any doubt. Anyone who has read his writings, even some of them, will readily acknowledge that he possessed the ability to look at various theological questions in different ways and to express his ideas in sometimes eloquent ways which were often fresh and new. 560 pages, blue hard cover

Book excerpt: Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.
