Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We desire simplicity in our existence; but how do we reach it in a world that thrives on complexity? What has humankind done with the simplicity of life? Life is what it is; there is no way to truly define it. The human species has taken this state of simplicity and made it very complicated. This complexity, which we deem as being a true reality, is only a man-made construction. Every moment of life is, by true definition, the first, and the last of our human existence. Throughout most of human history we've been divided-stuck in structured behavior patterns and belief systems and confined to the stark cultural boundaries of a manmade world. This has led to feelings of confusion and loneliness, a constant sense of lacking as we search for something more. The development of this world and the universe is dependent on what we think, what we desire and what we decide. For the majority of humans, life comes and goes without ever seeing the open door in front of them. Now, more than ever, individuals are feeling the need to leave their old ways behind and recognize the universal intelligence that has always been our birthright. Simplicity of Life is an exploration into self-awareness and human existence as a whole with ideas and insights that challenge the outdated belief systems of yore, and offers alternative ways of thinking that will allow anyone to tap into a larger and more universal consciousness. An increase in awareness has begun to pave the way toward unity. There is no teacher or student in life. We are all just walking each other home.

Book excerpt: Why is it, from the time we're born and throughout our lives, we never question who we are? Where did we come from? Why are we here? Is there an afterlife? Is this it? We only pause in a tragedy or when we realize life is ending in our later years. Amazing! We have absolutely no control and can be gone in a blink of an eye. Our day-to-day lives are so focused on what we do that it totally abandons the real questions we should be asking. Why? I wrote this book to show what God has revealed to me through my life struggles. The understanding of who my Father truly is and how simple life can be. I always thought, if there's a God, and I live my best, then why is there so much suffering? Why do so many people not believe in God? If he's our Father, then why isn't he here living among us? Think about that! If you truly believe that you were created to have life, then why isn't he living with us? There must be a reason. These questions are valid if you believe in God. Would you leave your children? Would you? Why? What he revealed to me is so simple! My passion is to reach those who want the peace and joy I experienced. I pray this touches your heart and brings you to a closer relationship to your loving Creator, who happens to be your Father and loves you like no other! He continually calls. We just have to answer!

  • Pages : 256 pages

Download or read book Soulful Simplicity written by Courtney Carver and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017-12-26 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Courtney Carver shows us the power of simplicity to improve our health, build more meaningful relationships, and relieve stress in our professional and personal lives. We are often on a quest for more—we give in to pressure every day to work more, own more, and do more. For Carver, this constant striving had to come to a stop when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Stress was like gasoline on the fire of symptoms, and it became clear that she needed to root out the physical and psychological clutter that were the source of her debt and discontent. In this book, she shows us how to pursue practical minimalism so we can create more with less—more space, more time, and even more love. Carver invites us to look at the big picture, discover what's most important to us, and reclaim lightness and ease by getting rid of all the excess things.

Book The Laws of Simplicity

    Book Details:
  • Author : John Maeda
  • Publisher : MIT Press
  • Release : 2006-07-07
  • ISBN : 0262260956
  • Pages : 129 pages

Download or read book The Laws of Simplicity written by John Maeda and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2006-07-07 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ten laws of simplicity for business, technology, and design that teach us how to need less but get more. Finally, we are learning that simplicity equals sanity. We're rebelling against technology that's too complicated, DVD players with too many menus, and software accompanied by 75-megabyte "read me" manuals. The iPod's clean gadgetry has made simplicity hip. But sometimes we find ourselves caught up in the simplicity paradox: we want something that's simple and easy to use, but also does all the complex things we might ever want it to do. In The Laws of Simplicity, John Maeda offers ten laws for balancing simplicity and complexity in business, technology, and design—guidelines for needing less and actually getting more. Maeda—a professor in MIT's Media Lab and a world-renowned graphic designer—explores the question of how we can redefine the notion of "improved" so that it doesn't always mean something more, something added on. Maeda's first law of simplicity is "Reduce." It's not necessarily beneficial to add technology features just because we can. And the features that we do have must be organized (Law 2) in a sensible hierarchy so users aren't distracted by features and functions they don't need. But simplicity is not less just for the sake of less. Skip ahead to Law 9: "Failure: Accept the fact that some things can never be made simple." Maeda's concise guide to simplicity in the digital age shows us how this idea can be a cornerstone of organizations and their products—how it can drive both business and technology. We can learn to simplify without sacrificing comfort and meaning, and we can achieve the balance described in Law 10. This law, which Maeda calls "The One," tells us: "Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious, and adding the meaningful."

Book Life Is Messy

Download or read book Life Is Messy written by Matthew Kelly and published by Blue Sparrow. This book was released on 2021-08-15 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is messy. It isn't a color-within-the-lines exercise. It's a wild and outrageous invitation full of uncertain outcomes. The mess of life is both inevitable and unexpected. It is filled with delightful mysteries and frustrating predicaments. In our disposable culture, we throw broken things away. So, what will we do with broken people, broken relationships, broken institutions, broken families, and of course, our very own broken selves? We are all broken and wounded. This book is about putting our lives back together, and allowing ourselves to be put back together, when life doesn't turn out as we expected it to. Based on his own heart-wrenching personal journals, Matthew Kelly shares how the worst three years of his life affected him, by exploring this question: Can someone who has been broken be healed and become more beautiful and more lovable than ever before? The answer will fill you with hope. There has never been a more urgent need for us to attend to what is happening within us. This is quite simply the right book at the right time.

Book Celebration of Discipline

Download or read book Celebration of Discipline written by Richard J. Foster and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 1988-10-05 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the twenty years since its publication, Celebration of Discipline has helped over a million seekers discover a richer spiritual life infused with joy, peace, and a deeper understanding of God. For this special twentieth anniversary edition, Richard J. Foster has added an introduction, in which he shares the story of how this beloved and enduring spiritual guidebook came to be. Hailed by many as the best modern book on Christian spirituality, Celebration of Discipline explores the "classic Disciplines," or central spiritual practices, of the Christian faith. Along the way, Foster shows that it is only by and through these practices that the true path to spiritual growth can be found. Dividing the Disciplines into three movements of the Spirit, Foster shows how each of these areas contribute to a balanced spiritual life. The inward Disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting, and study, offer avenues of personal examination and change. The outward Disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission, and service, help prepare us to make the world a better place. The corporate Disciplines of confession, worship, guidance, and celebration, bring us nearer to one another and to God. Foster provides a wealth of examples demonstrating how these Disciplines can become part of our daily activities-and how they can help us shed our superficial habits and "bring the abundance of God into our lives." He offers crucial new insights on simplicity, demonstrating how the biblical view of simplicity, properly understood and applied, brings joy and balance to our inward and outward lives and "sets us free to enjoy the provision of God as a gift that can be shared with others." The discussion of celebration, often the most neglected of the Disciplines, shows its critical importance, for it stands at the heart of the way to Christ. Celebration of Discipline will help motivate Christians everywhere to embark on a journey of prayer and spiritual growth.

Book Timeless Simplicity

Download or read book Timeless Simplicity written by John Lane and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A delightful book, celebrating the wonders of simplicity and minimalism in a noisy, overwhelming world. Our planet was once teeming with all kinds of life, but our grandchildren will inherit one with less than 20 per cent of its early forests still in tact, and thousands of plant and animal species extinct. Sooner or later, a more frugal lifestyle is not only desirable, but will soon be imperative. Life at the moment isn't what it should be – technological and economic progress has resulted in a delusion that material solutions will solve emotional problems, but a simpler lifestyle leaves space for spiritual renewal. This is a book about simplicity – not destitution, parsimoniousness or self-denial, but the restoration of wealth in the midst of an affluence in which we are starving the spirit. There are many advantages to living a less cluttered, less stressful life than that which has become the norm in the overcrowded and manic-paced consuming nations. Written by painter, writer and educator John Lane, Timeless Simplicity is an ode to having less and enjoying more. More time to pursue creativity, eat good food, relax with your family – and to just be yourself!
