Download or read book The Simple Tax System written by Daniel V. Carbaugh and published by Dorrance Publishing Company. This book was released on 2018-01-02 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: April 15th is just another day. The NEW201* TAX System is renamed Simple Tax System: no annual tax day, no tax forms, no withholding tax, no corporate tax, no back taxes penalties, no tax files to preserve for years past, no separate tax system for businesses, no intimidation, and, NO IRS! We should be searching for the simple, easily understood answer for funding essential services of the federal government. STOP taxing INCOME! Use the Simple Tax System. It's Fair. It's Simple. It WILL Work! About the Author Daniel V. Carbaugh, BA, MS was born in south-central Pennsylvania in 1942. He graduated from high school in 1960, did a hitch in the U.S. Marine Corps and then, too soon, found himself back in his hometown in 1965 looking for a job. Thanks to skills recently acquired from his military service (and a little luck) Dan soon found his way to a forty-two year career with Westinghouse Electronic Systems in Baltimore. Along the way Dan earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and a graduate degree in Engineering Management from the Johns Hopkins University. Dan and his family endured twenty plus years as expatriates in Europe, South-east Asia, South America, and North Africa. He retired from engineering management in 2007 and moved with his wife to South-west Florida. Dan's interest in tax reform came as a result of caring about fixing the federal tax code so that he could finally understand it. Dan's personal website is TheSimpleTaxSystem.com and his tax reform website is NoMoreIRS.com

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone knows that the current tax system is unfair. Some of the richest people in America pay no tax, while a huge share of the tax burden falls on the rest of us. A mere glance at the tax code confirms that it is far too complex, with volumes of rules that no ordinary person could possibly comprehend. What is to be done? Some conservatives have called for a so-called flat tax. But a flat tax is not necessarily a simple tax, and "flat" means "more" for most taxpayers: a rise in middle-class taxes to finance tax cuts for the rich. Is there another choice? In clear, easy-to-understand language, Edward J. McCaffery proposes a straightforward and fair alternative. A "fair not flat" tax that is consistent and progressive would tax spending, not income and savings. And if it were collected at its lower levels through a national sales tax, most people would not have to file a return. A supplemental tax on spending for the wealthiest individuals would make the national sales tax progressive. Under McCaffery's system, a family of four would pay no tax on their first $20,000 in spending, and 15 percent on the next $60,000. Only the few families who spend more than $80,000 a year would be subject to the supplemental tax. Necessities would be taxed less than ordinary and luxury items. No one would be taxed directly on savings. The estate and gift or so-called death tax would be abolished, for the simple reason that dead people don't spend. The "fair not flat" tax would fall on heirs when and as they spend their good fortune. Perhaps best of all, most Americans would not have to fill out tax returns. Simpler, more efficient, fairer, and more reflective of America's current social values, McCaffery's "fair not flat" tax could help get us out of the tax mess that politicians and special interests have gotten us into, improving the whole country in the process. Read Fair Not Flat to find out how. “In Fair Not Flat, Mr. McCaffery lays out the case for a consumption tax. He does so in a reader-friendly way, presenting his argument with very few footnotes, equations or technical terms. The consumption of the book, so to speak, is not at all taxing. And its argument is well worth pondering.”—Bruce Bartlett, Wall Street Journal

Book excerpt: Why are tax systems so complex? What are the causes of tax law complexity? What are the consequences? Why is tax simplification so difficult to achieve? These, and related questions, lie at the core of this volume on tax simplification featuring chapters by leading tax experts around the world. The quest for simplicity è^' or at least some move towards simplification è^' has been a fixation of governments and others for many years, but little appears to have been achieved. Tax simplification is the most widely quoted but the least widely observed of the usually stated goals of policy (equity and efficiency being the others). It has been used (and abused) as a primary justification for tax reform over the last century, and typically it is seen as è^-a good thingè^-- è^' to say that one is in favour of tax simplification is tantamount to stating that one is in favour of good as opposed to evil.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arguments about taxation are among the most heated- no other topic is as influential to the role of government and the distribution of costs and benefits in America. But while understanding of our tax system is of vital importance, the complexity can create confusion. Two of America's leading authorities on taxes, Leonard E. Burman and Joel Slemrod, bring clarity in this concise explanation of how our tax system works, how it affects people and businesses, and how it might be improved. The book explores what makes a tax system fair, simple, and efficient, why our system falls short, and whether the new tax law promises much, if any, improvement. Accessibly written and organized in a clear, question-and-answer format, the book describes the intricacies of the modern tax system in an easy-to-grasp manner. It has been revised and updated to both explain the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) in 2017, the most comprehensive reform of its income tax system since 1986, and to examine its likely effects on individuals, businesses, and society. Among the questions discussed are: How much more tax could the IRS collect with better enforcement? How do tax burdens vary around the world? Why do corporations pay so little tax, even though they earn trillions of dollars every year? What kind of tax system is most conducive to economic growth? And, can taxes be fair?

Wilfred Don observes that tax collectors from long ago were regarded as the lowest of the low as they charged and collected taxes from the poorest, who represented most of society. They kept large portions of taxes for themselves while contributing to the rulers. Today we call these lobbyists, who influence our lawmakers and leaders. The tax system in place today allows self-employed individuals to keep more of their money. By studying the tax code, you can: · lower your taxable income; · get tax breaks by investing in real estate; · make your money grow more than inflation. The author highlights how important it is to get corporate tax rates and realize capital gains instead of earning money and paying personal income tax rates. You must hold your wealth in corporations, equities, and real estate and avoid paying yourself ordinary income at all costs. Leverage the author’s decades of experience as a business owner to achieve your dreams with the insights in The Hole in the Code.

Book Simple Tax Reform The NEW201 TAX System

Download or read book Simple Tax Reform The NEW201 TAX System written by Publius II and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-05-22 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication describes the framework for a new US tax system, a tax system that affects the individual taxpayer and the business taxpayer. I call it the new Individual/business tax system. I call it that because it's new, it's about the individual's and business's obligation to pay a tax, and it's from beginning to end a complete system. However, to settle on a name, I've settled on the NEW201* TAX System. I'll explain the * later. I believe that reform of the old tax system, (the often referred to U.S. Tax Code), is not enough even if among its reformed features, it changes or eliminates the aggressive nature of the IRS. So I have crafted the NEW201* TAX System to radically change the IRS mission and strip away most of its para-police posture and policies. If adopted, no longer will we the people fear the IRS. This book is organized as follows: the foreword is followed by a presentation much like you would find in a conventional classroom or business meeting setting. If you've had enough after the slogging through the presentation, good for you. You can stop then. You'll have the information I want you to have. But I'm not going to let you off that easily. Following the presentation is a variety of explanations, opinions and ramblings built around notes associated with each presentation page. Well then, if we will no longer fear the IRS after we change over to the NEW201* TAX System, then who will we fear? The answer is, as it is, as it always has been-Congress. As believers fear God the Almighty, taxpayers will always fear those whom they are forced to sustain.
