Book excerpt: In the heart of Havenwood, a picturesque little town where the streets are lined with quaint cottages and ancient trees, secrets lurk behind every creaking door and shadowy alley. Despite its outward charm, Havenwood is a place where the past never truly stays buried, and the unusual often goes unnoticed—except by a group of young, sharp-eyed detectives who call themselves "The Seekers." These intrepid children, each with their own unique talents and quirks, have a remarkable gift for uncovering the mysteries that baffle even the most experienced adults. While others might be content with the simple joys of childhood, The Seekers are drawn to the thrill of the unknown, always on the lookout for the next puzzle to solve. Whether it’s a hidden message in a forgotten book or a strange figure seen only in the moonlight, nothing escapes their notice. Their latest adventure, however, would prove to be more challenging than anything they had faced before. A shocking crime has rocked the peaceful community of Havenwood, leaving everyone on edge. The townspeople whisper in hushed tones, fearing the unknown as rumors spread like wildfire. It’s a mystery that defies logic, with clues that seem to lead nowhere, and an urgency that presses upon The Seekers to solve it before it’s too late. As they delve deeper into the investigation, The Seekers begin to realize that this case is unlike any other. The stakes are higher, the danger more real, and the line between friend and foe blurrier than ever. But with each twist and turn, they also learn valuable lessons about trust, loyalty, and the true meaning of bravery. For in Havenwood, courage isn't measured by size or age, but by the willingness to stand by your friends when the world seems darkest. The closer The Seekers get to the truth, the more they understand that the greatest mysteries aren't just about catching a culprit—they're about understanding the people around you, and the secrets that bind a community together. In the end, they discover that friendship is the strongest clue of all, leading them to a conclusion that will change Havenwood forever. Welcome to a world where the smallest sleuths tackle the biggest mysteries with heart and determination. Welcome to "The Seekers," where adventure, danger, and the bonds of friendship intertwine in a story you won't soon forget.

Book excerpt: THE TRUTH IS SCARIER THAN FICTION Keri Wolf has joined the crew of The Seekers, a show that searches for paranormal phenomena, as they explore a supposedly haunted old inn on the road between Philadelphia and Harrisburg. The place is famous for its warm welcome—and infamous for being the site of an ax murder rampage in the 1920s. They’ve barely begun when a very real dead body is discovered in the basement. As a nonfiction author, Keri is supposed to be the rational one, but she can’t explain a terrifying apparition that seems to be both a threat and a warning. Former detective Joe Dunhill knows what she’s going through—the strange gift of being able to see and talk to the dead is a struggle he shares. A new member of the FBI’s Krewe of Hunters, he’s on the team investigating the disturbing death. The town is steeped in old-fashioned superstition, and the deeper Joe and Keri plunge into the dark secrets of the inn, the closer they get to a devastating truth. Will a bloody history be repeated? Or can the spirits of the past reach out to stop a killer?

Download or read book The Scroll Seekers written by W. Milton Timmons and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-12-07 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This historical novel recounts the second-century adventures of the patriarch Bishop Irenaeus, from the little Roman colony of Lugdunum, as he collects and evaluates all the scrolls that would eventually become the New Testament. An enormous amount of research on the origins of the Bible has accumulated over the last few decades, and the purpose of this book is to bring that material to life through dramatization. The skeptical philosopher Demetrios and the four bodyguards are fictitious. But Irenaeus and his book Against Heresy, the status of the church, the details of Roman life, and all the scrolls collected by our characters are factual.

Book excerpt: "A fantastic high-stakes adventure on a ghost ship sailing forever into eternity, where every soul is (literally) worth fighting for—what's not to love?" —Rin Chupeco, author of The Bone Witch and The Girl from the Well, on The Soul Keepers There are worse things than death. The Harbinger is lost, sunk to the bottom of an otherworldly sea. Every soul that ever died and was protected within its hold has been lost along with it. But at least that precious cargo is out of reach of the demon Urcena and her army of soul-devouring monsters. For now. The soul keepers are broken, scattered, and barely clinging to existence without their ship or any way to collect or protect the souls of the newly dead. If they are to have any hope of stopping Urcena's horrifying plans to destroy the fragile balance between living and dead, they will first have to survive long enough to locate the ghost of one of their own, who sacrificed himself to save the rest of the crew. Devon Taylor's cinematic and pulse-pounding duology comes to a thunderous conclusion in The Ghost Seekers. Praise for The Soul Keepers: "This pirate thriller starts off running and doesn’t stop ... This series starter will please teens who enjoy the ghostly tales and dark sarcasm of Neil Gaiman and Ransom Riggs." —School Library Journal
Download or read book THE TRUTH SEEKERS written by R. Glenn Brown and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-03 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first half of the book features Viktor Gorgachuk. Born in the USSR, his Orthodox parents keep his birth a secret by bribing the midwife. When Viktor is four, he is left at a remote monastery for eight years. Here he is educated and then released to his parents at twelve years of age. About this time, the midwife reveals the secret birth to the KGB, who begin a search for Viktor. The parents secretly leave Viktor with a family of Pentecostals and flee to Vladivostok where they are discovered by the KGB. Refusing to divulge Viktor's location, they are killed. Five years later, Viktor flees the USSR and immigrates to the United States. Viktor's escape from the KGB after the murder of his parents, and his adventures leading up to his immigration to America, is a riveting story. The second half follows Viktor in America. Here he becomes a leading pastor within Evangelicalism, which is seriously divided theologically. At one end of the divide are Pentecostals who believe supernatural spiritual gifts are active today and speaking in tongues is required evidence of Spirit baptism. At the other end are Cessationists who believe supernatural gifts of the Spirit ceased after the New Testament was completed. Pentecostal Pastor Viktor Gorgachuk becomes close friends with Cessationist Pastor Bill Ballard. They deplore the division within Evangelicalism. Both are committed to scripture as the ultimate authority for faith and practice. They agree to study each other's doctrine to determine what scripture says. Each agrees to follow scripture if the result of his search demands it. The interaction between two sincere preachers searching for truth is compelling. It's a story that thousands of evangelicals and others searching for spiritual reality can relate to. Join the Truth Seekers if you dare.

Download or read book Uranium Seekers written by Craig Evan Royce and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The, Uranium Seekers, saga began in 1976 when world-famous Hollywood, California photographer, Martin, was contracted to come to Utah and begin documenting, paying photographic tribute to, uranium miners, native Americans, and the Vanadium King uranium and vanadium mines on Temple Mountain, Emery County, Utah. The essence of the project was to pay tribute to the persons who traversed Zane Grey's and John Ford's great western expanse in search of uranium ore, one rock at a time, from before Madame Curies trips to the, then, present, and to remind the world's public that uranium was, and still is, used to kill, not humanity, rather cancer. I harbored the hope that by going back to the first uranium rocks the nuclear industry would re-evaluate the physical structure of nuclear reactors, one cubic yard at a time. Nuclear reactors, when built, witness Fukushima Daiichi, are still being created with too much haste. Like the uranium miners themselves, it's the hands of the humanity who cast the cement forms in which the reactors rest which determines safety. I also, rather naively, hoped when uranium's harmonous utilization was embraced its destructive military reality, throughout the world, would melt. Even with the support of the fine Beverly Hills, California literary agent, Clyde M. Vandeburg of Vandeburg-Linkletter Associates who represented Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Barry Goldwater, and many others at the time, the national and international events at Three-Mile Island and Chernobyl put Uranium Seekers and Martins great photographs to bed for decades. However, recently I learned the Utah Historical Quarterly Unpublished Manuscripts from the Department of Community and Culture at the Utah State Archives had harbored some of the manuscript material for decades and the recent events at Fukushima Daiichi made uranium part of the international conversation once again, I decided to dust off Martin's work and snatches of the original material for Uranium Seekers.
