As the owls grew, so did the treesand so did their happy owl community. The nights were filled with the sound of hoots and flapping wings as owls visited each others trees, family to family. All was well in the forest until, one day, things changed. One morning, the owls wake to find a bunch of strange equipment in their forest. The sound of hoots is replaced by the loud sound of hammers and saws. Then, the worst thing possible happens: a tree is cut down! A family of owls flees their home and hoots their goodbyes, but they are only the first of many to be forced to leave. The owl forest has been chosen as the site of a new housing development. Before houses are built, the trees must go. Will the owls be forced to leave the place theyve called home for generations? If they do leave, where will they go? Sometimes, humans dont give any thought to these questions, but its about time we did!

The Marble Man has a very real fire in his belly and eats the sand-wich is there (by the fist full) and then belches out the finest Marbles, Major Mabel has ever seen. The old Hoot Owl started much of this with this brain teaser, “Major Mabel may have lost her Marbles, but Mabel may not miss her marbles!” Though I am sure Mabel surely would.

Book Sudden Change

Download or read book Sudden Change written by Jerry Glover and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2007-12 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Alabama, football is king. It dominates many aspects of life in the southern state. For Jerry Glover, the former head student manager for the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide, life was rolling along at a strong and desirable clip despite some of his deceptive and potentially destructive actions. But as coach Paul "Bear" Bryant taught him and the other members of the football team, you need to be ready for any quick change in your life's direction, like you would for a fumble or an interception on the gridiron. His father's illness made Glover take an inward look at his own life and where it was headed as Jesus Christ entered his world in a dynamic and supernatural way. After forty-four years of denying and hiding, Glover witnessed what he needed to see-that those who play properly win. As Glover puts himself under center in this play-by-play account of his life, he challenges and inspires you to do the same so that you, too, can know the rewards of living your life the right way, without denial or delusions and affirming a powerful and transformative commitment to God.

Book excerpt: From her seat above the world, the goddess watched a rotting sea of boiling flesh spill from the dark corners of her lands, gathering and melding into a horrid beast with a single purpose, to drown her lands in suffering. The goddess leaned forward in her seat, looking down on her world, moving her vision back and forth along the endless, ever forking stream of time, searching intensely for a break in her protections. A place this creature could have exploited to get past her veil and onto Alta, hoping she would be able to seal it, preventing what was coming. She found nothing. This darkness would make it past her defenses. She had to accept that and focus on what to do next. What could she do to save her world? The answer came quickly, closely followed by a commingling of anger and disappointment. What she had to do was clear; she would need to act from within the veil. It was the only way to save Alta. It was also impossible. By her own law, the goddess couldn’t intervene directly in matters that were within the veil. Leaving her no choice. She needed a surrogate. A creature that would wield a fraction of her divinity and be reborn in her world to stand against this darkness. It was her only choice. It also made her sick to think of. In a flash, she conceived of a better idea. One that wouldn’t put her power into unworthy hands. Her vision switched to a world barren of magic and gods to find what she needed. Her sight settled on a nameless mortal. A mortal whose hands were drenched in blood and whose mind was broken beyond repair. His life was meaningless, and his soul would be damned in any just world, making him perfect. The goddess sat back in her throne and put her plans into motion. The trial of Alta had begun.
