This book was released on with total page 547 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within a few years of SIOP's founding, other organizations emerged, reflecting an expanding interest in specialized areas of I-O Psychology. The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), now known as the Association for Talent Development (ATD), was founded in 1944. It focused on the professional development of trainers and facilitators, emphasizing the need for psychological principles in training programs. This organization served as a vital resource for I-O psychologists whose work intersected with training and development. Another critical player in the post-war era was the International Association for Applied Psychology (IAAP), established in 1920 but revitalized after the war. This organization sought to promote the application of psychological principles across different cultural and organizational contexts, thereby positioning I-O Psychology on a global stage. The IAAP facilitated international research collaborations and conferences that allowed practitioners to share insights drawn from various cultural perspectives, thereby enriching the field. The establishment and growth of these professional organizations sparked a proliferation of research and scholarship in I-O Psychology. They provided the infrastructure for professional certifications and guidelines that defined competencies and ethical standards within the discipline. Among the foremost initiatives was the introduction of certification programs that validated the expertise of I-O psychologists, ensuring that practitioners met the discipline’s evolving professional standards.

Book Emotional Intelligence For Business

Book excerpt: All people have different personalities, different desires, different needs, and different ways to show their emotions. It all takes patience and cleverness to maneuver through this – particularly if they intend to succeed in life. It is here that emotional intelligence is relevant. Emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize individual feelings, understand what they narrate, and know-how those around them affect the emotions. It also requires the comprehension of others: It allows people to manage relationships more effectively because they understand how the human feeling is. People with high emotional intelligence typically excel in the majority of the tasks they do. Because they're the ones, most individuals want on their side. It gets answered when people with high emotional intelligence send an email. They do get it when they need help. Since they make others feel comfortable, they go through life much better than people who get angry or upset easily.

Book Emotional Intelligence As a leadership Strategy to Make Leaders Great

Download or read book Emotional Intelligence As a leadership Strategy to Make Leaders Great written by Dr. Whitney Stevens and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2011-12-16 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, University of Phoenix, language: English, abstract: Twenty successful leaders in the United States participated in the study to explore the extent to which emotional intelligence supports leadership potential and success. Competent managers with strong leadership skills are scarce (Cafolla, 2008). According to Goleman (2001), EQ might predict up to 90% of the variance in leadership effectiveness by uncovering strong positive effects of leadership commitment and effectiveness that support strong influences on leadership effectiveness. This modified Delphi study extended research on the emotional intelligence competencies to explore future possibilities of improving leadership success at mid- to high-level management tiers. The results of this study provide evidence to support emotional intelligence and leadership potential, validating the need for EQ as a leadership strategy. The Delphi study results recommended training to increase EQ in leaders and asserted that leaders with high levels of EQ are likely to improve overall organizational results, reduce turnover, reduce fraud and low performance, improve moral, and make organizations a better place to work.

Book Applied EI

  • Author : Tim Sparrow
  • Publisher : John Wiley & Sons
  • Release : 2009-10-15
  • ISBN : 0470687517
  • Pages : 376 pages

Download or read book Applied EI written by Tim Sparrow and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-10-15 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A decade on from its birth, emotional intelligence is attracting more attention than ever before. Why? Because of its proven connection to performance. Tomorrow's leaders will have to be facilitators who work collaboratively to help others develop their potential, and this will require emotionally intelligent skills and attitudes. Against this landscape, Applied EI provides the tools and advice needed to develop and manage a relationship with yourself and create positive relationships with others - the twin cornerstones of emotional intelligence. We're all capable of acting with emotional intelligence. Most of us don't, because internal interferences - misguided beliefs and attitudes learnt in childhood - get in the way. Countering this, Applied EI attaches unique importance to the role of attitudes in developing and applying emotional intelligence. Tim Sparrow and Amanda Knight stress that EI isn't a synonym for personality; it's about managing personality. That's why knowing how to put EI into practice is essential. And that's why reducing EI to a single number or score misses the point, and serves only to give us another measure by which to judge ourselves and others. Anyone interested in performance improvement today needs to be interested in emotional intelligence. Applied EI shows how our attitudes underpin our EI, explores how to develop emotionally intelligence attitudes, and lays out tactics for applying them in practice. It discusses what is needed at individual, team and leadership development levels, and considers what it means to be an EI practitioner. Its practical approach and unique perspective make it a must-read for anyone involved in the field of personal development.

Download or read book EQ iQ written by Melba J. Duncan and published by Open Hand Press. This book was released on 2021-03 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's competitive market, hiring managers are looking for one skill trait above all else: Emotional Intelligence (EI). This highly-anticipated, breakthrough book from industry leader Melba J. Duncan applies Emotional Intelligence best-practices to the Executive Support profession. EQ/IQ is recommended for Executive Assistants, C-Suite Assistants on the path to Chief-of-Staff, Administrative Assistant professionals, Human Resource professionals, and the Executives they support. The Executive Assistant role has some inherent characteristics that are distinct from other roles. The role is both broader and less well-defined than other positions. It also typically has higher visibility and impact because the Executive Assistant is often supporting a significant player in the organization. Additionally, the individual qualities of the Assistant come into sharper focus because the Executive Assistant is supporting Executives on a personal level, not just how they function in their roles. All of this requires increased levels of high-performance skills, sensitivity, flexibility, and resilience. The Executive Assistant must remain steady and calm in moments of chaos and conflict, must engage the unexpected with grace and resourcefulness, and must develop and communicate a clear sense of boundaries.EQ/IQ helps readers in reframing priorities; manage 'into', rather than 'from'; effectively articulate career visions; and enhance one's personal and corporate contribution. Written with contributions from noted career path influencers, the book includes an EQ/IQ developement webinar offer.
