This book was released on 2020-02-11 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Liberty Watkins delivers flowers to the local auto shop owned by the Truax boys, who does she run into? Blade Truax. She hasn’t seen Blade in years, mainly because he’s been in prison serving a sentence based solely on the testimony of Libby’s sister, Mariam. Yes, Libby and Blade have history. In fact, that summer, right before he’d been charged with sexually assaulting her sister, Libby and Blade had been meeting secretly almost every day. And Libby had felt something for him—something major. She thought he’d felt it too. Was that why she still questioned her sister’s testimony, because she wanted so badly to believe in Blade? Or was it something else? Blade doesn’t trust women anymore, for obvious reasons, but he particularly doesn’t trust women with the last name Watkins. So, when Libby Watkins shows up at his family business, he isn’t happy. How dare she stand there pretending there had been nothing between them. Did she even remember that it was her he’d been waiting to meet that fateful night when his entire life went down the toilet? They should not be together. There is way too much pain down that road for any kind of redemption. But it looks like fate has other plans when, despite Blade’s objections, Libby is hired to be the auto shop’s new office assistant. Libby and Blade’s story had me in a melted puddle." - Forevermooremom ★★★★★ "I stalk this author for her releases so I guess it's the good and approved kind of stalking. I always love her characters and the story and I get a welcome relief from all of the bedroom details other authors feel they need to make their stories work.” – Teri ★★★★★ “With an engaging plot and complex characters, it was a sweet, at times heartbreaking story about life, redemption, hope, new beginnings and the possibility of finding true love.” - Yvonne ★★★★★ "What a great story. I enjoyed the characters and how trials, bitterness, forgiveness and love are worked out in a really believable story line." - Kindle Customer ★★★★★ "The story is sometimes light & funny, then thought provoking...no matter where you are, it pulls you deeper & won't let you walk away." - Norma Books in The Small Town Boys series: The Small Town Boy's Redemption The Small Town Boy's Secret Romance The Small Town Boy's Second Chance

Book excerpt: He’s a defenseman on the academy’s hockey team – a well-known player on and off the ice. It’s a reputation he wears proudly…flaunts, even. The only one he has to look out for is himself. No one expects anything else. Thanks to past mistakes, I have a whole lot of responsibilities outside of the academy, and have no choice but to put others in my life first. They count on me, but you know what? I’m lonely. I guess that’s why I got all tangled up in the guy whose only focus is on hockey – and fun. What I hadn’t meant to do, however, was fall head over heels for the player who only wanted one thing from me. Can you say been there done that? But I think, underneath it all, there’s a lot more to him than even he knows and maybe his choices aren’t his own. Maybe someone else is pulling the strings. Either way, when past mistakes catch up with me again, the team’s biggest player must decide whether to follow the path carved out for him and walk away from me, or shape his own future, and become the man he keeps well hidden.

Book The Dog Who Took Me Up a Mountain

Download or read book The Dog Who Took Me Up a Mountain written by Rick Crandall and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-10-08 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The uplifting story of two unlikely mountaineers: a man in late middle age and a fearless pint-sized pup who, together, scale Colorado's highest peaks. By the time life had finished hitting Rick Crandall from all sides, he was at the lowest point of his life, both personally and professionally. Depressed to find himself facing a mid-late-life age crisis and watching his finances crumble as the tech industry bubble burst, he hopes his future isn't headed downhill. It was at this critical juncture in their new marriage that his wife Pamela made an astute and life-changing suggestion: "Let's get a dog." So begins the story of Emme, a 200-pound Saint Bernard trapped in the body of 5-pound Australian terrier puppy. Soon, Emme and Rick hit the hiking trails around Aspen, Colorado. While she is groomed to be a show dog, it's soon obvious that her heart is in the hills and with Rick, who decides to add more challenging hikes to the mix. Before long, they are scaling Colorado's "fourteeners," peaks with altitudes of over 14,000 feet. On one magical day, Emme climbs to the top of four "fourteeners," a quarter of the sixteen such peaks she will complete during her life without once being carried on a trail or on the rocks on the way to a summit. In mountaineering Rick realizes he has found—in his late sixties—his life's new passion. This is where Emme has led him—out of the abyss and to the top of the mountain. She was never really walking behind: she was nudging him along until he found his stride. Even after Rick understood the glory of climbing, it was Emme still doing the leading, until Rick learned how to lead himself.

Millions of hikers use the trails every year during holiday breaks, on mandatory school trips, and for recreational hikes. Walking the Land offers the first scholarly exploration of this unique trail system. Featuring more than ten thousand kilometers of trails, marked with hundreds of thousands of colored blazes, the trail system crisscrosses Israeli-controlled territory, from the country's farthest borders to its densest metropolitan areas. The thousand-kilometer Israel National Trail crosses the country from north to south. Hiking, trails, and the ubiquitous three-striped trail blazes appear everywhere in Israeli popular culture; they are the subjects of news articles, radio programs, television shows, best-selling novels, government debates, and even national security speeches. Yet the trail system is almost completely unknown to the millions of foreign tourists who visit every year and has been largely unstudied by scholars of Israel. Walking the Land explores the many ways that Israel's hiking trails are significant to its history, national identity, and conservation efforts.

BACK TO ME Noah Ramsey has a great hockey career, a wonderful family, and a good best friend, but what he wants most is to be with the love of his life who walked away from him years ago. When he finds her at the airport, he realizes she's changed, and she's struggling with things she doesn't want to tell him about. Noah also realizes just how much she scarred him when she left. Meredith Quick always plans everything out. She chose her tennis career over love in order to better succeed, but her plan dissolves when an injury threatens her career and her fiancé leaves her. Struggling through pain and the uncertainty of her future, she realizes her first misstep was walking away from Noah. She impulsively decides to go back to him while she attempts to put her life back together. Reacquainting isn't easy when Noah doesn't quite trust Meredith to stay and Meredith struggles with overcoming the pain she's endured without him. Can they work through their issues and move forward, or will their past ruin things between them forever? BECAUSE IT'S YOU Marc Polinski is known for having fun, always smiling, and being a third wheel for his friends, Noah and Meredith. A rare one night stand at a Halloween party and running into the woman again sets Marc on a path of no return. He can’t walk away from her, even if he wanted to, and he absolutely doesn’t want to do that. Elizabeth Boyd hasn’t dated in a long time and if it wasn’t for her sister-in-law, she wouldn’t have been pushed toward the seemingly bad idea of Marc Polinski. She’s not sure she wants to date, but she can’t seem to turn Marc down either. Little by little, she lets Marc wiggle past all of her defenses. Their relationship is rocky from the start, and with both of them having demons and secrets, things between them are a struggle. Will they be able to overcome their pasts, let each other in, and start building a life together or will they find they were doomed from the start? US AT FIRST Ian Rhett is seventeen when he meets Sydney. She's gorgeous, blushes easily, and has a southern accent. Ian can't help but talk to her and get to know her while she's in town. When Sydney goes home, they keep in touch by texting and talking over of the phone, becoming closer and closer. Sydney Jarvis can't believe a chance encounter at sixteen led her to a guy she talks to every single day. Ian's her best friend, who is somehow more than just a friend. They're young, in love, and the one person they want most, they can't have. Not yet, at least. IT'S OUR TIME Ian Rhett has made mistakes when it comes to the only woman he's ever wanted, and all he wants is a chance to show her that he can be the man she needs him to be. He's determined to make things work between them and he's stubborn enough that he won't be giving up. Sydney Jarvis trusts Ian with her friendship and her body, but she made the mistake of trusting him with her heart once and she isn't so sure she should trust him again. She wants him in her life, and he'll be there one way or another, but she isn't sure she can let go of the past to move forward. Secrets are discovered that strain their relationship even more, but these two have never been able to stay away from one another. Will their history help hold them together as they work out their kinks as a couple or will it be the very thing that causes their relationship to end?

Download or read book Rebels in the Rockies written by Walter Earl Pittman and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-07-15 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Civil War in 1861 found Southerners a minority throughout the West. Early efforts to create military forces were quickly suppressed. Many returned to the South to fight while others remained where they were, forming a potentially disloyal population. Underground movements existed throughout the war in Colorado, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and even Idaho. Repeatedly betrayed and overwhelmed by Union forces and without communications with the South, these groups were ineffective. In southern New Mexico, Southerners, who were the majority, aligned themselves with the Confederacy. Four small companies of irregulars, one Hispanic, fought (effectively) as part of the abortive Confederate invasion force of 1861-2. The most famous of these, the "Brigands," were close in function to a modern special forces unit. In 1862 the Brigands were sent into Colorado to join up with a secret army of 600-1,000 men massing there, but were betrayed. Returning to Texas, the Brigands and the other irregulars were used for special operations in the West throughout the War; they also fought in the Louisiana-Arkansas campaigns of 1863-4.

A page-turning, sword-fighting fantasy adventure for middle grade and up. Book 1: Rebels of Halklyen A dark sorcerer, a corrupt king and a hidden village of rebels. Assassins are not always the bad guys. In Abbarkon, it is best to keep your head down and your guard up. As long as he can remember, 14-year-old Flint has done exactly that. He ignores both the whispers of a monster named Martokallu and the rumours of a rebel group assassinating high-born dukes. Those stories mean little to him as he washes dishes and scrubs floors. On the one day that Flint breaks his own rule to defend a friend, his master ends up dead. Accident or not, Flint is sentenced to death. Hearing of his exploits, the Hawks rescue him from the executioner and whisk him away to the hidden village of Halklyen. Experts with their blades and bows, the rebels are the true defenders of the kingdom. They give Flint a sword and teach him how to use it. Before long, Flint learns that the dark sorcerer, Martokallu is real. When the Hawks are forced into the open, Flint is ready to join the fight. Will the Hawks be strong enough to win against an army of Martokallu's Followers? Book 2: The God Sword The dwarves guard a secret. The Hawks must prove they are worthy. The Kingdom of Abbarkon is safe. There is a new king and Martokallu is dead. Or is he? If he returns, the Hawks will need the God Sword. In search of the fabled weapon, Flint and Fleta join the Hawks on a trek through the Dwarven Kingdom of Tsaralvia. Along the way, they discover an unsettling truth: the Protectors of the God Sword do not want them there and they will do everything in their power to stop them. If the Hawks hope to save Abbarkon, they must prove they are worthy of the blade. Book 3: The White Wolf The Hawks thought the war was over. A mad sorcerer, a barbarian horde and the elven army think otherwise. Thousands of barbarian warriors from the frozen land of Nairt'kun arrive in Abbarkon's north while an elven army prepares to attack from the south. Among the northern raiders is Venadis, a young slave girl. Her masters fear her beast-shifting magic and force her to wear an iron collar. Intent on freedom, she slips away from the blood-thirsty horde and with her healing powers, she earns a place in the Hawks. When Flint, Fleta and the others head south on a mission to assassinate the elven emperor, she goes with them. The elves must be stopped. Will the Hawks get there in time to change the course of the war? Mother and son authors, Paula Baker and Aidan Davies team up to tell the action-packed adventures of the Hawks. Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Christopher Paolini's Eragon, J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter, Darren Shan's Demonata, and John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice.
