Book The Rayleigh Problem for a Dissociated Gas

Download or read book The Rayleigh Problem for a Dissociated Gas written by Franklin Kingston Moore and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rayleigh problems, in which dissociation kinetics are of significant effect, are analyzed, having in mind possible analogies to hypersonic boundary layers wit chemical nonequilibrium. The gas is imagined to be partly dissociated, initially in equilibrium, and bounded by a surface of some given degree of catalytic efficiency at the same temperature, and at rest. Then, a small change is specified to occur impulsively at the surface. The consequences of one such change, a surface temperature jump, are reviewed. Then, the problem of impulsive plate motion is treated, wherein viscous dissipation drives the gas out of chemical equilibrium, the wall temperature being held at its original level. certain implications of the study are discussed in reference to the theoretical and experimental study of hypersonic nonequilibrium boundary layers. Book Hypersonic Flow Research

Download or read book Hypersonic Flow Research written by F.R. Riddell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 769 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Astronautics and Rocketry, Volume 7: Hypersonic Flow Research compiles papers presented at a conference on hypersonics held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in August 1961. This book discusses the low Reynolds number effects, chemical kinetics effects, inviscid flow calculations, and experimental techniques relating to the problems in acquiring an understanding of hypersonic flow. The structure and composition of hypersonic wakes with attendant complex chemical kinetic effects is only briefly mentioned. This text consists of five parts. Parts A to C comprise of theoretical papers on the problems of calculating flow fields at hypersonic speeds. The experimental techniques that are of immediate practical interest in view of the difficulty of flight testing are discussed in Parts D and E. This publication is beneficial to engineers involved in advanced design problems.

Book Linearized Diffusion in a Relaxing Gas

Download or read book Linearized Diffusion in a Relaxing Gas written by P. M. Sforza and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The linearized model of a gas with diffusion processes and rate reaction is applied to onedimensional unsteady motion generated by initial non-uniformities of state and velocity. The time-dependent system resembles that of steady free mixing of jet or wake type, with two space coordinates. The time-wise character of the profiles of flow variables is studied analytically under two sets of conditions: (1) Zero mass-motion with state non-uniformity in slablike, cylindrical and spherical configurations; this corresponds to steady flow with a nondissipating step-function velocity profile. (2) Mass-motion with uniform temperature in slablike configuration; this corresponds to twodimensional viscous isothermal free mixing with thate variations of concentration and enthalpy.

Book Comprehensive Applied Mathematical Modeling in the Natural and Engineering Sciences

Download or read book Comprehensive Applied Mathematical Modeling in the Natural and Engineering Sciences written by David J. Wollkind and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-01 with total page 606 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text demonstrates the process of comprehensive applied mathematical modeling through the introduction of various case studies. The case studies are arranged in increasing order of complexity based on the mathematical methods required to analyze the models. The development of these methods is also included, providing a self-contained presentation. To reinforce and supplement the material introduced, original problem sets are offered involving case studies closely related to the ones presented. With this style, the text’s perspective, scope, and completeness of the subject matter are considered unique. Having grown out of four self-contained courses taught by the authors, this text will be of use in a two-semester sequence for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students, requiring rudimentary knowledge of advanced calculus and differential equations, along with a basic understanding of some simple physical and biological scientific principles.
