Book Partnership and Transformation

Download or read book Partnership and Transformation written by Leda Stott and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-11-24 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last 30 years, partnership has received growing attention across a range of sectors and disciplines. Widely used to describe a relationship in which different actors pool their resources, knowledge and skills to address common problems, partnership is currently presented as central to the achievement of more inclusive and sustainable development. Rejecting "one size fits all" approaches, and mindful of different understandings of the term, Partnership and Transformation: The Promise of Multi-stakeholder Collaboration in Context, which is designed to appeal to both academics and practitioners alike, argues that partnership must be understood in relation to specific contexts and the added value it may offer for individuals, organisations and wider society. It is further suggested that the transformational potential of partnership rests critically upon a move away from purely instrumental considerations of its worth to a deeper appreciation of its intrinsic value as a process based on interpersonal relationships. A stronger balance between pragmatic and reflective dimensions of partnership can, the author claims, enhance opportunities for meaningful deliberation and productive conflict and contribute to the systems change needed for a global citizenship that embraces human well-being and stewardship of the planet.

Book Renewing the Promise

Download or read book Renewing the Promise written by Julius Fondong and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2022-09-12 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: n this very riveting and well-researched essay, Julius Fondong ruminates on the continued relevance of the promises and principles that underpinned the creation of the post-colonial Cameroon nation-state, sixty years after unification in 1961. Renewing the Promise: A Treatise on the Refoundation of the Cameroon Nation chronicles Cameroon's experiment in statehood; an experiment, which according to the author, sprung out of a desire and a promise to forge a new nation through the fusion of two territories with contrasting historical experiences and colonial legacies. Writing from the vantage position of a policy analyst, a governance expert, and a conflict management practitioner, Fondong contends that a combination of policy inconsistencies, imperial arrogance, institution capture, leadership deficiencies and the brazen travesties of the nation's foundational principles and promises has led to violent internal dissent, decreased state capacity for public service delivery and a development gridlock. So, what can be done to re-align the nation to its founding promises and save it from possible disintegration? Fondong proposes an overarching, governance-based praxis for the re-engineering of the Cameroon nation from the bottom up. His proposed remedy is predicated on the principles of decentralized governance, the redistribution of power in a manner that addresses the right to self-determination of Anglophone Cameroonians, enhanced public service delivery and a strategic shift from a transactional to a transformational leadership paradigm. Renewing the Promise is a thought-provoking and captivating political essay, written with exhilarating passion and prototypical clarity. It can serve as a blueprint for a much-needed reform of Cameroon's governance architecture.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You can change your life in just seven minutes a day . . . A soft message for a hard time, The Promise of Love, Sex, and Intimacy is a simple yet profound solution to the cause of all human discontent: the lack of intimacy, especially sexual intimacy. Even amidst the plethora of techniques now available for so-called enlightenment—from meditation and visualization to intensive prayer retreats or obsessive exercise regimens— the need for intimacy has been left unsatisfied. Requiring just seven minutes a day, the practice taught in this book—called “Your Seven-Minute Wonder”—answers that need by opening the body and psyche to gratifying levels of personal and sexual intimacy. It is the practical means that allows you to tangibly realize your ideals and inherent perfection. Renowned teacher Mark Whitwell, who has spent a lifetime studying the secrets of life with the great masters, has seen through to the heart of their understanding, and created a simple way for readers to acquire it for themselves. “Your Seven-Minute Wonder” is a physical practice— a combination of healthful breathing sustained by synchronistic body movement. Its purpose is to be uplifting and totally functional: a dynamic interflow of “inspiration” or inhalation (receptivity), with the “expression” or exhalation (strength). This in-and-out breathing cycle, which Mark carefully delineates, activates the deep male-female polarity within each of us, regardless of gender. The practice is effortless for everyone, and practitioners report that their well-being, vitality, sexuality, self-awareness, and true desires are awakened immediately and dramatically. It restores health and dignity, and sex becomes utterly relevant to a graceful life. Further, as you become receptive to your breath—the basis of all human function—you become responsive to money, power, and collaboration of all sorts. The Promise of Love, Sex, and Intimacy is a wise, powerful, and easy-to-follow roadmap to a practice that can be life-changing: one that promises to open you up to an entirely new level of human understanding.
