Book European Cases of the Reincarnation Type

Download or read book European Cases of the Reincarnation Type written by Ian Stevenson, M.D. and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-09-02 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many cultures accept that a person may die and then come back to life in another form, but Westerners have traditionally rejected the idea. Recently, however, surveys conducted in Europe indicate a substantial increase in the number of Europeans who believe in reincarnation, and numerous claims of reincarnation have been reported. This book examines particular cases in Europe that are suggestive of reincarnation. The first section provides a brief history of the belief in reincarnation among Europeans. The second section considers eight cases from the first third of the twentieth century that were not independently investigated, but were reported and sometimes published by the persons concerned. The third section covers 32 cases from the second half of the twentieth century that were investigated by the author. Many of these cases involved either children who exhibited unusual behavior attributed to a previous life, or adults who experienced recurrent or vivid dreams attributed to a previous life. In the fourth section, the author compares European cases suggestive of reincarnation with those of other countries and cultures.

Book The Long Trajectory

Download or read book The Long Trajectory written by Eric M. Weiss and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-09 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title says it all. Eric Weiss is going for the gold. I'm watching and believing. -Michael Murphy, Cofounder of Esalen Institute Author of The Future of the Body As I read Eric Weiss' The Long Trajectory, I am often lifted beyond understanding into ecstasy. Integrating the physical, transphysical, and spiritual dimensions, Weiss offers a metaphysical model that heals the past and opens the door to a new future for humanity. -Dr. Christopher M. Bache, Youngstown State University Author of Dark Night, Early Dawn What happens to us after we die? Do we cease to exist? Do we survive bodily death? Do we live again in a new body? Without answers to these questions, we cannot know who and what we really are. In The Long Trajectory, author and philosopher Eric Weiss explores these fundamental questions. Inspired by the philosophies of Alfred North Whitehead and Sri Aurobindo, Weiss develops a new metaphysical system he calls "transphysical process metaphysics." It rethinks space, time, matter/energy, consciousness, and personality in ways consistent with the findings of science, while providing a coherent explanation for the survival of the personality beyond death and how it can reincarnate in a new body.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Tucker, in a follow-up to his book Life Before Life, explores American cases of young children who report memories of previous lives in the New York Times bestseller, Return to Life. A first-person account of Jim Tucker's experiences with a number of extraordinary children with memories of past lives, Return to Life focuses mostly on American cases, presenting each family's story and describing his investigation. His goal is to determine what happened—what the child has said, how the parents have reacted, whether the child's statements match the life of a particular deceased person, and whether the child could have learned such information through normal means. Tucker has found cases that provide persuasive evidence that some children do, in fact, possess memories of previous lives. Among others, readers will meet a boy who describes a previous life on a small island. When Tucker takes him to that island, he finds that some details eerily match the boy's statements and some do not. Another boy points to a photograph from the 1930s and says he used to be one of the men in it. Once the laborious efforts to identify that man are successful, many of the child's numerous memories are found to match the details of his life. Soon after his second birthday, a third boy begins expressing memories of being a World War II pilot who is eventually identified. Thought-provoking and captivating, Return to Life urges its readers to think about life and death and reincarnation, and reflect about their own consciousness and spirituality.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of reincarnation has been around for thousands of years, and is a part of many religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. In addition to these religious beliefs, many people believe it offers an explanation for the mysteries of life. There are children that claim to remember previous lives as adults or even animals. These claimed memories might affect the development of the child and be incorporated into the child's personality. This book presents an in-depth look at Dr. Stevenson's forty years studying children who claim to remember previous lives. It is an informative, professional read that dispels common misconceptions about reincarnation and offers an open-minded perspective. It provides an overview of the history of the belief in and evidence for reincarnation, with new material relating to birthmarks and birth defects, independent replication studies, and recent developments in genetic study. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you lived before?Suddenly the idea of reincarnation has produced a wave of resonance in modern society and struck a chord. This book documents the growing public acceptance of the possibility that all of us will live again after we finish our present 'go-around' on the planet Earth. The ancient concept of reincarnation and past lives has not only re-emerged into our modern consciousness, but seems to have become a more natural and accepted part of our world view. Some studies show that twenty-five percent of people in modern western countries now agree that reincarnation is not only possible, but a reality. The implications of this are enormous.Imagine a population that has been released from the fear of death. Suddenly, we have all the time in the world - eternity, in fact! Life now takes on a new dimension of meaning. We realize that this is not all there is and we also understand that we are more than our physical bodies and because we are more than our physical bodies, we can access that which is beyond the physical. Our potential is virtually unlimited.Freedom from the fear of death is a kind of universal freedom that can flow across all aspects of life and living. Knowing that we are not mere physical lumps of biological matter, but indestructible souls constructed of pure consciousness is a magnificent vision for humanity.Knowing that we are 'souls' means that we can live out our lives from that basic understanding. It is the ultimate empowerment. No doubt many will remain sceptical about the possibility of reincarnation. But it seems this is a concept and a phenomenon that is not going away. Those amazing headlines in the media just keep coming. Every day more people - average, ordinary everyday people - are discovering that they have an undeniable connection to something larger, something infinite and something absolutely amazing.Table of Contents Bentreshyt - A Priestess of Isis The Reawakening of Marty Martyn Past Lives on Other Planets The Interesting Case of Sherrie Lea Laird and Marilyn Life on Mars Group Reincarnation The Druze The Genius Connection The Science of Reincarnation

Book excerpt: A wildly imaginative novel about a man who is reincarnated over ten thousand lifetimes to be with his one true love: Death herself. “Tales of gods and men akin to Neil Gaiman’s Sandman as penned by a kindred spirit of Douglas Adams.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review) First we live. Then we die. And then . . . we get another try? Ten thousand tries, to be exact. Ten thousand lives to “get it right.” Answer all the Big Questions. Achieve Wisdom. And Become One with Everything. Milo has had 9,995 chances so far and has just five more lives to earn a place in the cosmic soul. If he doesn’t make the cut, oblivion awaits. But all Milo really wants is to fall forever into the arms of Death. Or Suzie, as he calls her. More than just Milo’s lover throughout his countless layovers in the Afterlife, Suzie is literally his reason for living—as he dives into one new existence after another, praying for the day he’ll never have to leave her side again. But Reincarnation Blues is more than a great love story: Every journey from cradle to grave offers Milo more pieces of the great cosmic puzzle—if only he can piece them together in time to finally understand what it means to be part of something bigger than infinity. As darkly enchanting as the works of Neil Gaiman and as wisely hilarious as Kurt Vonnegut’s, Michael Poore’s Reincarnation Blues is the story of everything that makes life profound, beautiful, absurd, and heartbreaking. Because it’s more than Milo and Suzie’s story. It’s your story, too. Praise for Reincarnation Blues “The most fun you’ll have reading about a man who has been killed by both catapult and car accident.”—NPR “This book made me laugh out loud. And then a page later, it made me sob. Reminiscent of Tom Robbins and Christopher Moore, Poore finds humor in the dark absurdities of life.”—Chicago Review of Books “Charming . . . surprisingly light and uplifting . . . It reads like a writer having fun.”—New York Journal of Books

Book Reincarnation in America

Download or read book Reincarnation in America written by Lee Irwin and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reincarnation in America: An Esoteric History surveys the complex history of reincarnation theories across multiple fields of discourse in a pre-American context, ranging from early Greek traditions to Medieval Christian theories, Renaissance esotericism, and European Kabbalah, all of which had adherents that brought those theories to America. Rebirth theories are shown in all these groups to be highly complex and often disjunctive with mainstream religions even though members of conventional religions frequently affirm the possibility of rebirth. As a history of an idea, reincarnation theory is a current, vital belief pattern that cuts across a wide spectrum of social, cultural, and scientific domains in a long, complex history not reducible to any specific religious or theoretical explanation. This book is cross-disciplinary and multicultural, linking religious studies perspectives with science based research; it draws upon many distinct disciplines and avoids reduction of reincarnation to any specific theory. The underlying thesis is to demonstrate the complexity of reincarnation theories; what is unique is the historical overview and the gradual shift away from religious theories of rebirth to new theories that are therapeutic and trans-traditional.

Book Reincarnation

  • Author : Rev. Irving Cooper
  • Publisher : Book Tree
  • Release : 2007-04
  • ISBN : 1585092959
  • Pages : 137 pages

Download or read book Reincarnation written by Rev. Irving Cooper and published by Book Tree. This book was released on 2007-04 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reincarnation is the idea and some would say fact that after we die we return and live other lives. The reason for this cycle is that the world offers us the chance to grow and learn based on the many physical challenges it offers. When we have learned and progressed enough, through numerous lives, there will be no more need to return. This book covers the various cultures that accept the idea, and what it really means to us, as individuals. Those who are steeped in pure logic reject the idea due to the lack of strong scientific evidence. They fail to realize that one cannot present spiritual proofs in a laboratory. Matter itself and the material world can show physical evidence but spirit and matter are two separate things. So where is the proof for reincarnation? One good answer, and a great starting point, is to open this book. Spiritual proof exists for those who can comprehend it.
