Book Romance Scamming an Internet Journey Through a Mine Field of Deception

Download or read book Romance Scamming an Internet Journey Through a Mine Field of Deception written by Donald M. Ferguson and published by . This book was released on 2020-04-05 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells a bazaar story of romance scamming, deceit, lies, betrayal, and theft that takes place every day around the world through the medium of the internet. This book is mostly composed of emails with dates and "times" from the beginning of the story to the end. This romance story came out of the clouds when all the necessary conditions were placed for a scam to work & happened in the internet. The romantic fraud happened spontaneously. When it was found that the parties could not meet, a request was made to have the money returned ($710.00), but there was no answer from Vicky, and eventually she terminated her email address, and could not be reached.

Book Holomorphic Functions in the Plane and n dimensional Space

Download or read book Holomorphic Functions in the Plane and n dimensional Space written by Klaus Gürlebeck and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-23 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex analysis nowadays has higher-dimensional analoga: the algebra of complex numbers is replaced then by the non-commutative algebra of real quaternions or by Clifford algebras. During the last 30 years the so-called quaternionic and Clifford or hypercomplex analysis successfully developed to a powerful theory with many applications in analysis, engineering and mathematical physics. This textbook introduces both to classical and higher-dimensional results based on a uniform notion of holomorphy. Historical remarks, lots of examples, figures and exercises accompany each chapter.

Book Control Theory in the Plane

Download or read book Control Theory in the Plane written by Otomar Hájek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-03-20 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An important scienti?c innovation rarely makes its way by gradually winning over and converting its opponents. . . What does happen is that its opponents die out and that the growing generation is familiarised with the idea from the beginning. (Max Planck, 1936) Humans have always attempted to in?uence their environment. Indeed, it seems likely that the understanding of aspects of this environment, and its control, whether by trial-and-error or by actual study and analysis, are crucial to the very process of civilisation. As an illustration, boats and ships were used even in pre-history for ?shing, tra- port, discovery, and trade. Small sailing craft are controlled primarily by working the main-sheet and rudder in conjunction. Once mastered, further experimentation (see e. g. the ?fth chapter of the Kon Tiki Expedition, with an entertaining account of the possible use of multiple movable centerboards on a sailing raft) led to a - sic change: keeled hulls and corresponding rigging, which made sailing against the wind possible. This was a relatively recent feature: even the far-voyaging Vikings relied primarily on beachable ships and recourse to oars. It was probably crucial in the west-to-east settlement of Oceania, from Taiwan to Easter Island. A 20th century development is the self-steering device, which regulates boat travel au- matically under mildly varying wind conditions; but this has had a much smaller social impact.

Book Plane Finite Elements for Two Dimensional Problems

Download or read book Plane Finite Elements for Two Dimensional Problems written by Andreas Öchsner and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended as a study aid for the finite element method. Based on the free computer algebra system Maxima, we offer routines to symbolically or numerically solve problems from the context of two-dimensional problems. For this rather advanced topic, classical ‘hand calculations’ are difficult to perform and the incorporation of a computer algebra system is a convenient approach to handle, for example, larger matrix operations. The mechanical theories focus on the classical two-dimensional structural elements, i.e., plane elements, thin or classical plates, and thick or shear deformable plate elements. The use of a computer algebra system and the incorporated functions, e.g., for matrix operations, allows to focus more on the methodology of the finite element method and not on standard procedures. Furthermore, we offer a graphical user interface (GUI) to facilitate the model definition. Thus, the user may enter the required definitions in a source code manner directly in wxMaxima or use the GUI which is able to execute wxMaxime to perform the calculations.

Book Elliptic Partial Differential Equations and Quasiconformal Mappings in the Plane PMS 48

Download or read book Elliptic Partial Differential Equations and Quasiconformal Mappings in the Plane PMS 48 written by Kari Astala and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2009-01-18 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the most recent developments in the theory of planar quasiconformal mappings with a particular focus on the interactions with partial differential equations and nonlinear analysis. It gives a thorough and modern approach to the classical theory and presents important and compelling applications across a spectrum of mathematics: dynamical systems, singular integral operators, inverse problems, the geometry of mappings, and the calculus of variations. It also gives an account of recent advances in harmonic analysis and their applications in the geometric theory of mappings. The book explains that the existence, regularity, and singular set structures for second-order divergence-type equations--the most important class of PDEs in applications--are determined by the mathematics underpinning the geometry, structure, and dimension of fractal sets; moduli spaces of Riemann surfaces; and conformal dynamical systems. These topics are inextricably linked by the theory of quasiconformal mappings. Further, the interplay between them allows the authors to extend classical results to more general settings for wider applicability, providing new and often optimal answers to questions of existence, regularity, and geometric properties of solutions to nonlinear systems in both elliptic and degenerate elliptic settings.

Book Periodic Differential Equations in the Plane

Download or read book Periodic Differential Equations in the Plane written by Rafael Ortega and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-05-06 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Periodic differential equations appear in many contexts such as in the theory of nonlinear oscillators, in celestial mechanics, or in population dynamics with seasonal effects. The most traditional approach to study these equations is based on the introduction of small parameters, but the search of nonlocal results leads to the application of several topological tools. Examples are fixed point theorems, degree theory, or bifurcation theory. These well-known methods are valid for equations of arbitrary dimension and they are mainly employed to prove the existence of periodic solutions. Following the approach initiated by Massera, this book presents some more delicate techniques whose validity is restricted to two dimensions. These typically produce additional dynamical information such as the instability of periodic solutions, the convergence of all solutions to periodic solutions, or connections between the number of harmonic and subharmonic solutions. The qualitative study of periodic planar equations leads naturally to a class of discrete dynamical systems generated by homeomorphisms or embeddings of the plane. To study these maps, Brouwer introduced the notion of a translation arc, somehow mimicking the notion of an orbit in continuous dynamical systems. The study of the properties of these translation arcs is full of intuition and often leads to "non-rigorous proofs". In the book, complete proofs following ideas developed by Brown are presented and the final conclusion is the Arc Translation Lemma, a counterpart of the Poincaré–Bendixson theorem for discrete dynamical systems. Applications to differential equations and discussions on the topology of the plane are the two themes that alternate throughout the five chapters of the book.

Book Bifurcations of Planar Vector Fields and Hilbert s Sixteenth Problem

Download or read book Bifurcations of Planar Vector Fields and Hilbert s Sixteenth Problem written by Robert Roussarie and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-05-19 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a coherent, exhaustive and progressive way, this book presents the tools for studying local bifurcations of limit cycles in families of planar vector fields. A systematic introduction is given to such methods as division of an analytic family of functions in its ideal of coefficients, and asymptotic expansion of non-differentiable return maps and desingularisation. The exposition moves from classical analytic geometric methods applied to regular limit periodic sets to more recent tools for singular limit sets. The methods can be applied to theoretical problems such as Hilbert's 16th problem, but also for the purpose of establishing bifurcation diagrams of specific families as well as explicit computations. - - - The book as a whole is a well-balanced exposition that can be recommended to all those who want to gain a thorough understanding and proficiency in the recently developed methods. The book, reflecting the current state of the art, can also be used for teaching special courses. (Mathematical Reviews)

Book Harmonic Mappings in the Plane

Download or read book Harmonic Mappings in the Plane written by Peter Duren and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-03-29 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Harmonic mappings in the plane are univalent complex-valued harmonic functions of a complex variable. Conformal mappings are a special case where the real and imaginary parts are conjugate harmonic functions, satisfying the Cauchy-Riemann equations. Harmonic mappings were studied classically by differential geometers because they provide isothermal (or conformal) parameters for minimal surfaces. More recently they have been actively investigated by complex analysts as generalizations of univalent analytic functions, or conformal mappings. Many classical results of geometric function theory extend to harmonic mappings, but basic questions remain unresolved. This book is the first comprehensive account of the theory of planar harmonic mappings, treating both the generalizations of univalent analytic functions and the connections with minimal surfaces. Essentially self-contained, the book contains background material in complex analysis and a full development of the classical theory of minimal surfaces, including the Weierstrass-Enneper representation. It is designed to introduce non-specialists to a beautiful area of complex analysis and geometry.

Book Optimal Interconnection Trees in the Plane

Download or read book Optimal Interconnection Trees in the Plane written by Marcus Brazil and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-04-13 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores fundamental aspects of geometric network optimisation with applications to a variety of real world problems. It presents, for the first time in the literature, a cohesive mathematical framework within which the properties of such optimal interconnection networks can be understood across a wide range of metrics and cost functions. The book makes use of this mathematical theory to develop efficient algorithms for constructing such networks, with an emphasis on exact solutions. Marcus Brazil and Martin Zachariasen focus principally on the geometric structure of optimal interconnection networks, also known as Steiner trees, in the plane. They show readers how an understanding of this structure can lead to practical exact algorithms for constructing such trees. The book also details numerous breakthroughs in this area over the past 20 years, features clearly written proofs, and is supported by 135 colour and 15 black and white figures. It will help graduate students, working mathematicians, engineers and computer scientists to understand the principles required for designing interconnection networks in the plane that are as cost efficient as possible.
