  • ISBN : 3662100185

Download or read book Statistical Mechanics written by E.H. Lieb and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Statistical Physics one of the ambitious goals is to derive rigorously, from statistical mechanics, the thermodynamic properties of models with realistic forces. Elliott Lieb is a mathematical physicist who meets the challenge of statistical mechanics head on, taking nothing for granted and not being content until the purported consequences have been shown, by rigorous analysis, to follow from the premises. The present volume contains a selection of his contributions to the field, in particular papers dealing with general properties of Coulomb systems, phase transitions in systems with a continuous symmetry, lattice crystals, and entropy inequalities. It also includes work on classical thermodynamics, a discipline that, despite many claims to the contrary, is logically independent of statistical mechanics and deserves a rigorous and unambiguous foundation of its own. The articles in this volume have been carefully annotated by the editors.

Book Particle Physics

    Book Details:
  • Author : Eugene Kennedy
  • Publisher : BoD – Books on Demand
  • Release : 2012-04-20
  • ISBN : 9535104810
  • Pages : 126 pages

Download or read book Particle Physics written by Eugene Kennedy and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-04-20 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stimulated by the Large Hadron Collider and the search for the elusive Higgs Boson, interest in particle physics continues at a high level among scientists and the general public. This book includes theoretical aspects, with chapters outlining the generation model and a charged Higgs boson model as alternative scenarios to the Standard Model. An introduction is provided to postulated axion photon interactions and associated photon dispersion in magnetized media. The complexity of particle physics research requiring the synergistic combination of theory, hardware and computation is described in terms of the e-science paradigm. The book concludes with a chapter tackling potential radiation hazards associated with extremely weakly interacting neutrinos if produced in copious amounts with future high-energy muon-collider facilities.

Book Basic Properties of III V Devices Understanding Mysterious Trapping Phenomena

Download or read book Basic Properties of III V Devices Understanding Mysterious Trapping Phenomena written by Kompa, Günter and published by kassel university press GmbH. This book was released on 2014 with total page 762 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trapping effects in III-V devices pose a great challenge to any microwave device modeler. Understanding their physical origins is of prime importance to create physics-related reliable device models. The treatment of trapping phenomena is commonly beyond the classical higher-education level of communication engineers. This book provides any basic material needed to understand trapping effects occurring primarily in GaAs and GaN power HEMT devices. As the text material covers interdisciplinary topics such as crystal defects and localized charges, trap centers and trap dynamics, deep-level transient spectroscopy, and trap centers in passivation layers, the book will be of interest to graduate students of electrical engineering, communication engineering, and physics as well as materials, device, and circuit engineers in research and industry.

Book High Speed Heterostructure Devices

Download or read book High Speed Heterostructure Devices written by Patrick Roblin and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002-03-07 with total page 726 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuelled by rapid growth in communications technology, silicon heterostructures and related high-speed semiconductors are spearheading the drive toward smaller, faster and lower power devices. High-Speed Heterostructure Devices is a textbook on modern high-speed semiconductor devices intended for both graduate students and practising engineers. This book is concerned with the underlying physics of heterostructures as well as some of the most recent techniques for modeling and simulating these devices. Emphasis is placed on heterostructure devices of the immediate future such as the MODFET, HBT and RTD. The principles of operation of other devices such as the Bloch Oscillator, RITD, Gunn diode, quantum cascade laser and SOI and LD MOSFETs are also introduced. Initially developed for a graduate course taught at Ohio State University, the book comes with a complete set of homework problems and a web link to MATLAB programs supporting the lecture material.

Book Solar Neutrinos

    Book Details:
  • Author : Raymond Davis, Jr.
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 2018-05-11
  • ISBN : 0429982445
  • Pages : 813 pages

Download or read book Solar Neutrinos written by Raymond Davis, Jr. and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-11 with total page 813 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A variety of evolutionary sequences of models for the solar interior has been computed, corresponding to variations in input data, to obtain some idea of the uncertainties involved in predicting a solar neutrino flux. It is concluded that the neutrino flux can be estimated to within a factor of 2, the primary uncertainty being the initial homogeneous solar composition; detailed results are given. With a preferred value of the heavy-element-to-hydrogen ratio Z/X = 0.028, the helium content necessary to fit a model to the observed solar luminosity is found to be Y = 0.27.
