Book The Photography of Coloured Red Objects Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Photography of Coloured Red Objects Classic Reprint written by Ce Kenneth Mees and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-21 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Photography of Coloured Red Objects This book represents an attempt to put clearly the theory underlying the photography of coloured objects, and the application of that theory to those branches of practice which are of the most immediate importance. The need for such a book has been impressed upon me by my daily correspondence, and I have hopes that it may serve as a kind of text-book of the subject for many of my friends. While not employing purely scientific nomenclature and phraseology, I have made no attempt to be "practical," believing as I do, that the application of an ounce of accurate knowledge is worth a ton of unreasoning practice. I have also made no pretence as to being unbiassed, I have frankly discussed the products of my own firm, but I hope that the loss of generalisation caused by this procedure will be compensated by the advantage to be gained from definite information. It would not be possible, for instance, usefully to discuss the distribution of sensitiveness in "red-sensitive plates," whereas it is quite possible to discuss the distribution of sensitiveness in any particular plate. I am also likely to be biassed in argument, but I have not allowed myself to be consciously biassed, and have tried to be as fair as possible. I am very much obliged to many friends for the services chronicled below. Chapter VI. on "Photography for Reproduction," was written by Mr. A. J. Newton. • Author : Marc Ebner

Download or read book Color Constancy written by Marc Ebner and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-06-05 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A human observer is able to recognize the color of objects irrespective of the light used to illuminate them. This is called color constancy. A digital camera uses a sensor to measure the reflected light, meaning that the measured color at each pixel varies according to the color of the illuminant. Therefore, the resulting colors may not be the same as the colors that were perceived by the observer. Obtaining color constant descriptors from image pixels is not only important for digital photography, but also valuable for computer vision, color-based automatic object recognition, and color image processing in general. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of color constancy, describing all the major color constancy algorithms, as well as presenting cutting edge research in the area of color image processing. Beginning with an in-depth look at the human visual system, Ebner goes on to: examine the theory of color image formation, color reproduction and different color spaces; discuss algorithms for color constancy under both uniform and non-uniform illuminants; describe methods for shadow removal and shadow attenuation in digital images; evaluate the various algorithms for object recognition and color constancy and compare this to data obtained from experimental psychology; set out the different algorithms as pseudo code in an appendix at the end of the book. Color Constancy is an ideal reference for practising engineers, computer scientists and researchers working in the area of digital color image processing. It may also be useful for biologists or scientists in general who are interested in computational theories of the visual brain and bio-inspired engineering systems.

Book Heinrich Hertz Classical Physicist Modern Philosopher

Download or read book Heinrich Hertz Classical Physicist Modern Philosopher written by D. Baird and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-01-31 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sub-title of this symposium is accurate and, in a curious way, promises more than it states: Classical Physicist, Modem Philosopher. Heinrich Hertz, as the con summate experimentalist of 19th century technique and as brilliant clarifying critic of physical theory of his time, achieved one of the fulfilments but at the same time opened one of the transition points of classical physics. Thus, in his 'popular' lecture 'On the Relations Between Light and Electricity' at Heidelberg in the Fall of 1889, Hertz identified the ether as henceforth the most fundamental problem of physics, as the conceptual mystery but also the key to understanding mass, electric ity, and gravity. Of Hertz's demonstration of electric waves, Helmholtz told the Physical Society of Berlin: "Gentlemen! I have to communicate to you today the most important physical discovery of the century. " Hertz, philosophizing in his direct, lucid, pithy style, once wrote "We have to imagine". Perhaps this is metaphysics on the horizon? In the early pages of his Principles of Mechanics, we read A doubt which makes an impression on our mind cannot be removed by calling it metaphysical: every thoughtful mind as such has needs which scientific men are accustomed to denote as metaphysical. (PM23) And at another place, concerning the terms 'force' and 'electricity' and the alleged mystery of their natures, Hertz wrote: We have an obscure feeling of this and want to have things cleared up.

This is what the reviewers had to say about Color Chemistry: 'Recommended as essential reading not only to color chemists in all stages of their careers, but to chemists unilaterally. They will find it interesting, informative, stimulating and very readable.' Dyes and Pigments 'By confining the discussion to topics of current technical importance and using a mechanistic organic approach, an informative overall balance is achieved...' Chemistry in Britain 'This book will stand as the definitive treatment of the subject for years to come...Professor Zollinger's important contribution to the scientific literature belongs in every serious collection.' Download or read book Classical Painting Atelier written by Juliette Aristides and published by Watson-Guptill. This book was released on 2008-04-01 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Want to paint more like Manet and less like Jackson Pollock? Students of art hailed Classical Drawing Atelier, Juliette Aristides’s first book, as a dynamic return to the atelier educational model. Ateliers, popular in the nineteenth century, teach emerging artists by pairing them with a master artist over a period of years. The educational process begins as students copy masterworks, then gradually progress to painting as their skills develop. The many artists at every level who learned from Classical Drawing Atelier have been clamoring for more of this sophisticated approach to teaching and learning. In Classical Painting Atelier, Aristides, a leader in the atelier movement, takes students step-by-step through the finest works of Old Masters and today’s most respected realist artists to reveal the principles of creating full-color realist still lifes, portraits, and figure paintings. Rich in tradition, yet practical for today’s artists, Classical Painting Atelier is ideal for serious art students seeking a timeless visual education.
