Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intuition and transformation expert Penney Peirce helps you understand how a profound shift in perception can result in personal and societal transformation. She shows you how to develop the new “attention skills” that will allow you to thrive in the new Intuition Age. Building on the first two books in the Peirce’s Transformation series, Leap of Perception, with a foreword by Martha Beck, is a comprehensive guide to understanding—and navigating—the “paradigm shift.” The Information Age is accelerating to a point where life will soon make a “leap” into the Intuition Age, where the abilities of the analytical left brain balance with the vast intuitive wisdom and visionary capacity of the right brain. The resulting reality will function by different rules, and we’ll become a new kind of human being. We’ll live in a vast present moment, closer to the speed of light, aware of much more than we ever were before. You will learn to materialize the situations—and outcomes—you want, resolve conflict in relationships, expand your creativity, reduce exhaustion and anxiety from multitasking, ease fear caused by the transformation process, work with the collective unconscious, and develop new skills like telepathy, clairvoyance, applied empathy, rapid healing, and more.

This book was released on 2021-10-25 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early 20th century, tanned skin was associated with good health. However, people began to protect themselves against potential overexposure to avoid sunburns. Around 1945, the first sunscreen products became available. In the years to follow, a vast number of different sunscreen filters and frameworks regulating filter substances and preparations, and methods characterizing sunscreen products were developed. The perception regarding the tasks of sunscreen products changed several times – initially it was promoted as a lifestyle product, then as a skin cancer preventive means, and more recently also for anti-aging. Different purposes and the widespread use of these products have led to myriad studies and a wealth of information. In this volume, the editors present a current collection of information analyzing and discussing issues related to sunscreen products and their use. These include challenges regarding the ideal sunscreen product including filter selection and formulation issues, measurement methods, performance characterization, safety, and regulatory issues. Further papers address topics related to the use of sunscreen products in everyday life, in vulnerable cohorts and outdoor workers. Controversial topics such as environmental effects of sunscreen products and the risks and benefits of UV radiation in the context of skin cancer, vitamin D and cardiovascular and metabolic health are also covered.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Breaking the Spell: An Exploration of Human Perception examines how people have become largely disconnected from a living, energetic universe through social conditioning. Over generations humanity has lost much of its creative spirit, imagination, and perceptual faculties. In this book the author addresses how we should 'break the spell' of our conditioned perceptions and learn to manage and develop our emotional, mental, and physical energies. Through such chapters as Managing One's Energy, Being Vigilant, and Stepping Away, the author explains in very simple language the necessity for each person to regain their focus, inner calm, and to observe the chaotic impacts that surround them. The author also discusses how a person can refine their perceptions through inner intent. The book also contains an inspiring collection of thoughts; and an Appendix on the misunderstandings of modern day spirituality. In these distracting times it is imperative that each person learns to empower themselves by learning to harness and develop their personal energies. This timely book explains just how to 'break the spell' of our hypnotic world. , ,

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Odyssey in Learning and Perception documents a fifty-year intellectual expedition in the areas of learning and perception—always with an eye to combining them in a theory of perceptual learning and development, a theory that may be broadly applicable to humans and nonhumans, young and old. In the field of psychology, beginning in the 1950s, Eleanor J. Gibson nearly single-handedly developed the field of perceptual learning with a series of brilliant studies that culminated in the seminal work, Perceptual Learning and Development. An Odyssey in Learning and Perception brings together Gibson's scientific papers, including difficult-to-find or previously unpublished work, along with classic studies in perception and action. Gibson introduces each paper to show why the research was undertaken and concludes each section with comments linking the findings to later developments. A personal essay touches on the questions and concerns that guided her research.

By historicizing and institutionalizing esports, the contributors analyze the rapid growth of esports and its implications in culture and digital economy. Dal Yong Jin curates a discussion as to why esports has become a global phenomenon. From games such as Spacewar to Starcraft to Overwatch, a key theme, distinguishing this collection from others, is a potential shift of esports from online to mobile gaming. The book addresses why many global game players and fans play and enjoy online and mobile games in professional game competitions, and therefore, they investigate the manner in which the transfer to, from and between online and mobile gaming culture is occurring in a specific subset of global youth. The remaining focus identifies the major platforms used to enjoy esports, including broadcasting and smartphones. By analyzing these unexamined or less-discussed agendas, this book sheds light on the current debates on the growth of global esports culture.

Book Workshops in Perception

Download or read book Workshops in Perception written by R. P. Power and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-03-27 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1981, Workshops in Perception is designed to enable students to devise their own experiments in sensory processes or perception. The thirty workshops include over a hundred different possible student projects covering the full range of the senses and interactions among them. The topics range from simple perimetry to the perception of language and social situations. In addition to more traditional topics such as illusions, adaptation and after-effects, they include lifespan perceptual development, musical illusions, and even a consumer-oriented study of road atlases. Each of the ten major sections has a general introduction to the topic with suggestions for reading. Each workshop has a more specific introduction to its topic, and an experiment outlined. A typical outline will suggest more independent variables than a student can handle, and it is up to the student to select the variables he considers important and to choose the appropriate levels of the variables. Although many suggestions are made regarding the actual running of each workshop, deciding precisely how to carry out the experiment is left up to the student. Pilot work and consultation with the tutor is encouraged. Suggestions for the form of the analysis are made, but again the details are left to the student. Several alternatives to the main workshop are outlined briefly, and these are suited to the more adventurous or advanced student. Thus the book is suited to students with a wide range of ability.

Book Machine Understanding

Download or read book Machine Understanding written by Zbigniew Les and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-01 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book discusses machine understanding (MU). This new branch of classic machine perception research focuses on perception that leads to understanding and is based on the categories of sensory objects. In this approach the visual and non-visual knowledge, in the form of visual and non-visual concepts, is used in the complex reasoning process that leads to understanding. The book presents selected new concepts, such as perceptual transformations, within the machine understanding framework, and uses perceptual transformations to solve perceptual problems (visual intelligence tests) during understanding, where understanding is regarded as an ability to solve complex visual problems described in the authors’ previous books. Thanks to the uniqueness of the research topics covered, the book appeals to researchers from a wide range of disciplines, especially computer science, cognitive science and philosophy.
