Download or read book K C Cop written by Bob Hartman and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-03-31 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These short stories are actual events in which I was personally involved. They occurred between 1982 and 1995 while I was serving as a police officer and detective in the bomb and arson unit, homicide unit, and burglary and auto theft units with KCPD. These incidents are taken from my memory of the events as they took place. They are not, in any way, meant to hurt or cause discredit to anyone or anyplace described or resembled in these stories. I wish to make it known that my personal comments in each story may be a little on the redneck side, but they are not meant to be racist or sexist, but humorous. Even though most police officers’ humor is sometimes considered sick and different from that of other people, we use this humor as a tool to handle the many mental stresses we deal with each day.

You were really in a refugee camp? among other questions, I could have paid for a house in full from that money. Ever since I could remember I always wanted to come to the United States. This country was not just a dream for me; it was a reality that I wanted to accomplish before I reached age 25. The decision was easy knowing what I wanted since age 11, but leaving elderly parents behind was very difficult. However, I had parents who understood that I could not accomplish what I wanted to be, to become a writer in a country where if you were not a member of the Communist Party, your chances for success was minimal. I wanted to write things that did not please those who was part of the Communist Inquisition. I dared to escape from the poverty, the hypocrisy and oppression that were all around us. I was willing to pay the price of isolation, starvation or anything that would help me to come to America. And this is my story.

He delves into the emotional side of why Vinegar Hill, a 20-acre-tract, was deemed an unbearable slum, and had to be destroyed immediately in 1963. Everything wrong with Charlottesville was blamed on the innocent inhabitants of the "Hill." When three notorious hoodlums killed a UVA student, and Gabe Owens informed on them, most of the City Council and the UVA President swung into action. They masterminded a plan to demolish the homes and businesses of all Blacks on the "Hill," for the crimes of one or two people. The above were helped along by the actions of three "racist" police officers who had murdered William Griot, to keep him from divulging the secret that they were actually Blacks. This novel is intriguing, mysterious, spiritual, and down-home soulful all at once. In this novel, James enters the mind of the reader from page one, and does not let him/her go.

In this Volume I; he chronicles his first twenty-three years. From birth, through the early days, then through adolescence and the rough teenage years, up until when he graduates from college, Silvio examines why he made certain decisions along the way and how those decisions effected the trajectory of his life’s path. In Volume II, Silvio takes a very introspective journey through his adult life, after college. He shares his experiences in the professional world, as well as his very personal adventures in faith, family, friendship, or as Silvio refers to it; brotherhood, and of course; love. He ends Volume II at age thirty-three, a very pivotal point in his life when he found himself at yet another impasse both professionally and romantically. This memoir pays constant tribute to those who impacted Silvio amidst those first thirty-three years. From many family members, to friends, teachers, coaches and pastors, Silvio details very specific memories that took place with those influential individuals. How much better of a place would the world be if we all not only looked for the positives in the experiences we’ve shared with others, but we took the time to document those experiences and told people what they meant to us and what we learned from them?
