When you increase vibration, so do they. When you raise frequency, so do they. When you improve, so do they. When you vibrate at a faster speed, when you make corrections of earthly errors, so to speak, they benefit and there is a collective sigh of relief in the heavens. Death of the body is one form of ascension. It is a process, not a static state, and it is a rather effective and efficient one we might add, because one form of density is shed at the moment of death of the body and the spirit is free to soar and to vibrate more efficiently. Many of you on Earth are now learning to do this within the bodily framework, and we spirits are pleased with your work. We are proud of you. You are continuing a work that we understand because we did the best we could during our own earthly lives, and we love to see the work carried on. Things are the way they are. And that's about the best we can do in the way of analyzing them. What had meaning for us only has energy now and, undiluted by our own false meaning-giving, it is pure energy. It is very relaxing to realize we don't have to do anything with words or events. Except observe. Just notice. This state doesn't do much for our accounting skills or our golf games, but those could be relearned if we return to Earth and put the effort into it. It is always a choice.

A broad spectrum of disciplines including psychology, philosophy, theology, and religious studies speak about the challenges we face in encountering the Other vis- -vis our receptivity, openness, and capacity to entertain the stranger in our midst. Through constructive critical exchange, Psychology and the Other engages such perspectives on the Other from various subdisciplines within psychology and related disciplines. The volume uses the language of the Other as a vehicle for rethinking aspects of psychological processes, especially within the therapeutic context. As a group, the contributors demonstrate that the language of the Other may be more fitting than the egocentric language frequently employed in psychology. They also embrace the challenge to create new theories and practices that are more ethically attuned to the dynamic realities of psychological functioning. The book is organized into three sections. The first deals with foundational philosophical concerns and provides an introduction to the project of "thinking Otherwise." The second section brings these fundamental philosophical concerns to bear on the therapeutic situation, especially in the realm of relational psychoanalysis. The final section of the book addresses concrete psychological situations in which the Other figures prominently and where the power of thinking Otherwise is most visibly demonstrated.

The features of this skepticism were concisely delineated by James Madison in the 37th Federalist as a recognition of the complexity of political matters, the limitations of human reason, and the shortcomings of language. The position was first articulated by Cicero who connected it with the idea of a mixed or republican constitution developed by trial and error over generations. Cicero was influential in the world of David Hume, Edmund Burke, and Madison. The skeptical/constitutional connection found its most articulate recent advocate in Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter and underlay his advocacy of judicial restraint. Current events have revived interest in the primacy of the legislative branch in balancing interests and rights, in the States as laboratories for democracy, and in an experimental approach to the solution of social problems in what might be called a reopening of the American mind. The five central chapters explore the skeptical/constitutional connection and the spirit of moderation in these political thinkers. Without an appreciation of this tradition of avoiding dogmatism, people will continue to demand simple answers to complex problems. The book is not, however, primarily a tract for the times but a reflection on the on-going search for a more civil world.
