Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson take on the case of Mr Avery Quill, whose daughter has mysteriously disappeared. The investigation has hardly begun when her body is discovered, and Mr Quill is himself murdered in the same manner. The killer leaves visiting cards, emblazoned with the head of the Gorgon, at the scenes of his crimes, and Holmes connects these to a strange club known as 'The One Hundred per Cent Society'. He learns little there, except that the members are all outcasts from noble families. The following morning a visitor arrives at Baker Street, to tell Holmes and Watson that the Society has a sinister purpose and that its leader has identified them as an obstacle to his plans which must be removed. Thus begins a battle with a new and merciless adversary, whose madness and thirst for revenge threaten to bring about the deaths of an apparently unconnected group of people. The Great Detective pits his skills against an enemy whose very appearance is uncertain.

Download or read book Secrets Of The People Whisperer written by Perry Wood and published by Random House. This book was released on 2008-09-04 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1990 Perry Wood shelved his music career to breed, break in and train horses. 'All my work with horses,' he says, 'has been about exploring deeper communication, learning to understand and influence another being for the mutual benefit of both parties. As time went on I realised that more communication was happening below the surface than people normally noticed. I started to apply these observations to the people who came to me to learn, at which point it was suggested that what I was doing with the horses and people would be transformational if it was brought into corporations.' He was right, it is! 'What I bring to this work is not only my learning from years of horse whispering and people-training but also the non-judgemental spiritual essence of unconditional love that is present in everything.'In Secrets of the People Whisperer, Perry Wood shows with unique simplicity how to listen to yourself, how to listen to others and - once you've mastered these skills - how to set goals and turn your life into a stunning success story.
Download or read book Popular Government in the United States written by Charles Shang Hyneman and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political theory consists in clarification of language and concepts, in description and analysis of institutions and behavior, and in appraisal and evaluation of political events. Hynemans theory is not one of the behavioral or functional varieties that rely on special language and concepts drawn from other disciplines than political science. It emphasizes a central concern of both conventional and behavioral theory: the distribution of "power," or what proportion of people have influence over what aspects of government. The main task of political theory, Hyneman thinks, is clarification of the values served by and sustaining American democracy. This task gives meaning and direction to analysis of the elements of democracy and to empirical research on the processes of democracy. In this sense political science is not "value-free"; it is most useful in pursuit of the implications of basic beliefs and ideals. Hynemans emphasis on popular control, electoral politics, and equality of influence tends to challenge both of the "pluralist" and "ruling elite" schools-though it should be clear that he is not engaged in a scholastic debate. The freedom of his analysis, ranging from specific reference to the professional controversies of his day is one of its strengths and a probable source of originality. He connects it explicitly to the literature of political science at critical points, as it existed when originally published in 1968.
