Book Nitro Compounds and Their Derivatives in Organic Synthesis

Download or read book Nitro Compounds and Their Derivatives in Organic Synthesis written by Nagatoshi Nishiwaki and published by . This book was released on 2020-09-16 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nitro chemistry plays an important role in organic synthesis to construct new frameworks. This is due to the diverse properties of the nitro group. The strong electron-withdrawing ability of the nitro group reduces the electron density of the scaffold, facilitating reactions with nucleophiles or electron transfer. In addition, the -hydrogen of the nitro group is highly acidic, giving a stable anion, which facilitates reactions with both electrophilic and nucleophilic reagents. In addition, the nitro group also serves as a good leaving group, which facilitates transformation to a wide variety of functional groups. Despite the substantial contributions of many researchers, nitro chemistry is still an exciting and challenging research area. This book brings together recent original research and review articles contributed by an international team of leading experts and pioneers in organic synthesis using nitro groups. It is sure to provide useful information and promising insights for researchers.

The high reactivity of nitroalkenes makes them particularly suitable for the synthesis of biologically active compounds such as alkaloids, antibiotics, prostaglandins and biocides, etc. Nitroalkenes is a unique and up-to-date analysis written for all chemists working in organic synthesis and chemical technology. The fascinating versatility of these compounds makes this book particularly relevant to researchers in the pharmaceutical, aerospace and explosives industries.

Book Catalytic Reductive Carbonylation of Organic Nitro Compounds

Download or read book Catalytic Reductive Carbonylation of Organic Nitro Compounds written by S. Cenini and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About eight years ago, the catalytic carbonylation of organic nitro compounds was a research field developed enough to justify a rather long review on this subject. Now, we feel that the scientific results and new achievements in this field, very important even from an industrial point of view, require a book in order to be adequately presented. The competition between the catalytic carbonylation of organic nitro compounds and other chemical routes for the synthesis of a variety of organic compounds has not yet come to an end, but many progresses have been done in the former field. We also like to emphasize that this type of research does not only involve relevant industrial problems to be solved, but it opens a research field where the academic interests (mechanism of the reactions, isolation of the intermediates in the catalytic cycles, synthesis of model compounds and so on) can find a lot of opportunities.

Book Biodegradation of Nitroaromatic Compounds

Download or read book Biodegradation of Nitroaromatic Compounds written by Jim C. Spain and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past five years increased awareness of environmental contamination by nitroaromatic compounds has led to a dramatic increase in research on their biodegradation. The resulting discoveries have markedly extended our understanding of degradation mecha nisms and pathways in bacteria and fungi. Futhermore, this new basic knowledge promises the development of field applications of biodegradation systems for nitroaromatic com pounds. In May of 1994, an International Symposium on the Biodegradation of Nitro aromatic Compounds was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. This symposium brought together the scientists at the frontiers of research into the biodegradation of nitro aromatic compounds. The invited speakers were asked to review their area of expertise and write a critical, comprehensive synthesis of their work and related work by others. This book is the result of their efforts. The emphasis of the reviews is on basic research in biodegradation and biotransfor mation. Therefore, the reactions of nitroaromatic compounds in plants, animals, bacteria, fungi, soil, and even nonbiological systems are considered. The goal of the work is to provide the reader with an appreciation of the tremendous range of possibilities for metabolism of aromatic nitro compounds and the experimental approaches used to understand them. This volume should be of interest to biochemists, microbiologists, engineers, toxicologists, and anyone interested in the behavior of synthetic chemicals in the environment or in living systems. Furthermore, a variety of commercial applications can be envisioned for some of the reactions described here.
