Download or read book The Cosmography of Paradise written by Alessandro Scafi and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Cosmography of Paradise: The Other World from Ancient Mesopotamia to Medieval Europe considers the general theme of paradise from various comparative perspectives. The focus has been on the way the relationship between 'the other world' and the structure of the whole cosmos has been viewed in different ages and traditions around the Mediterranean basin, spanning from the ancient Near East to medieval Europe. Scholars coming from different fields discuss in this volume the various ways the relationship between paradise and the general features of the universe has been viewed within their own field of work. The historical formation of the notion of paradise, defined as a perfect state beyond time and space, relied heavily upon a variety of temporally and culturally conditioned concepts of the physical cosmos as a finite and imperfect realm. It is precisely the emphasis on cosmography that allows the discussion of several traditions: Sumerian, ancient Iranian, Greek, Jewish, early Christian, Gnostic, Byzantine, Islamic, Scandinavian, and Latin Western.
Download or read book Emmanuel s Book written by Pat Rodegast and published by Bantam. This book was released on 2011-03-23 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the revealing underground classic, a work that stands beside the "Seth" books as a delightful and invaluable guide to our inner spirit and our outer world. Emmanuel speaks to us through Pat Rodegast and shares his wisdom and insights on all aspects of life. Beautifully written and illustrated, Emmanuel's Book I is to be treasured, enjoyed and passed on to a friend. Emmanuel says: "The gifts I wish to give you are my deepest love, the safety of truth, the wisdom of the universe and the reality of God . . . . The issue of whether there is a Greater Reality or not, for me at least, has been settled. I know that there is. So I will speak to you from the knowing that I possess." Ram Dass, in the introduction, says: "Being with Emmanuel one comes to appreciate the vast evolutionary context in which our lives are being lived . . . And at each moment we are at just the right place in the journey. As Emmanuel points out, 'Who you are is a necessary step to being who you will be.'"
Download or read book Encyclopedia of Cosmology Routledge Revivals written by Norriss S. Hetherington and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-08 with total page 709 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Encyclopedia of Cosmology, first published in 1993, recounts the history, philosophical assumptions, methodological ambiguities, and human struggles that have influenced the various responses to the basic questions of cosmology through the ages, as well as referencing important scientific theories. Just as the recognition of social conventions in other cultures can lead to a more productive perspective on our own behaviour, so too a study of the cosmologies of other times and places can enable us recognise elements of our own cosmology that might otherwise pass as inevitable developments. Apart from modern natural science, therefore, this volume incorporates brief treatments of Native American, Cave-Dweller, Chinese, Egyptian, Islamic, Megalithic, Mesopotamian, Greek, Medieval and Copernican cosmology, leading to an appreciation of cosmology as an intellectual creation, not merely a collection of facts. It is a valuable reference tool for any student or academic with an interest in the history of science and cosmology specifically.
Download or read book The Christian Writer s Manual of Style written by Robert Hudson and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2016-08-30 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The standard style guide of the Christian publishing industry, The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style, 4th Edition, compiled by veteran Zondervan editor Robert Hudson, contains clear guidance on style questions related to religious writing, including many topics not addressed in other references or online. Nearly half of this fourth revision is made up of new material, including information about turning blogs into books, the effects of digital media on writing, “adverbial doubles,” “vanishing accents,” word-choice strategies, endorser guidelines, and much more. It also contains an all-new “Word List” which makes up more than a third of the book. The most needful information remains—entries on capitalization, abbreviation, citations, fictional dialogue, and more—but it has all been updated to keep pace with changes in English language usage. This fourth edition also corresponds with The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th Edition (2010), though it isn’t afraid to chart new territory where that reference is unhelpful on issues of religious writing. Comprehensive yet easy-to-use, The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style, 4th Edition, is a go-to resource for Christian authors, pastors, teachers, copy writers, editors, proofreaders, publishing and ministry professionals, executive assistants, and students—anyone who writes or edits as a part of their work or study—and for grammar aficionados everywhere.

This book was released on 2021-03-25T00:00:00Z with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not a textbook of religion, but rather the results of 10 years of research that led me to discover that the story of the biblical creation is true. This story comes to us from the papyrus and the author attributes all manifestations to the divine will. Putting God's name in evidence, and scientifically rendering each verse, I found myself with a scientific scheme similar to the Model of String, developed by the Italian physicist Gabriele Veneziano. This restitution of the biblical scheme of creation, I called it "the Universal Cosmological Model". At first I knew nothing about cosmology or astronomy. My curiosity to find out why the biblical scheme of creation was thrown away by scientists led me to research this story in depth. It made me discover that all the great structures that scientists have discovered and continue to discover about the universe have already been revealed in this biblical scheme of creation. In this first part, namely the introduction to the pre-Big-bang, we wanted to prepare scientists to understand the biblical language and non-scientists to understand the scientific language. This took us up to the fifth chapter. The discovery of structure from before Big-bang to Big-bang begins from chapter VI. I leave it to those in the field to judge for themselves the results of my research, which is spread over the other volumes of the collection of books "The Verses of the Scholars".
