Most manuscripts deal with lentic aquatic resources. This is not surprising since Mexican limnology followed the general study trend of that from temperate limnology. Despite this, we must emphasize that lotic resources in Mexico are quite important both locally and regionally. This does not mean that rivers are not under limnological research in Mexico, just that their study has only recently begun. It is the intention of the volume to stimulate a larger section of limnologists to further research in this field. It is to be hoped that policy-framing governmental authorities in Mexico will benefit from it, and consider some of the aspects described so that further damage to the epicontinental waterbodies can be halted, and remedial measures can be considered in the future.

This is a story of how he managed to gain entry to this country illegally on many occasions, why he did it and what he did while here. In writing the book my intention was, in large part, to shed some light on the immigration issue, since it is a topic being hotly debated in Congress and across the country at the present time. In doing so, I also address U.S.-Mexican relations over the years and Jorges heritage. He is a Mestizo, which means he has the blood of the Spanish, the Mayans and other indigenous peoples of Mexico in him. He now lives in Playa del Carmen and takes tourists on guided tours of Mayan temples, among other things. He is also a poet.
