Download or read book Reference Data on Atomic Physics and Atomic Processes written by Boris M. Smirnov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-09-03 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each scientist works with certain information and collects it in the course of prof- sional activity. In the same manner, the author collected data for atomic physics and atomic processes. This information was checked in the course of the author’s p- fessional activity and was published in the form of appendices to the corresponding books on atomic and plasma physics. Now it has been decided to publish these data separately. This book contains atomic data and useful information about atomic particles and atomic systems including molecules, nanoclusters, metals and condensed s- tems of elements. It also gives information about atomic processes and transport processes in gases and plasmas. In addition, the book deals with general concepts and simple models for these objects and processes. We give units and conversion factors for them as well as conversion factors for spread formulas of general physics and the physics of atoms, clusters and ionized gases since such formulas are used in professional practice by each scientist of this area.
Download or read book Swarms of Ions and Electrons in Gases written by W. Lindinger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our understanding of elementary processes in plasmas has been increasing dramatically over the last few years. The development of various swarm techniques, such as the temperature variable selected ion flow tube or the selected ion flow drift tube, has provided the prerequisite for detailed investigations into ion molecule reactions both in binary and three body collisions, and the mechanisms of many reactions are now understood quite satisfactorily. This information could not have been obtained without a detailed knowledge of the transport phenomena involved. Some of these, such as the internal-energy distribution of drifting ions, have only very recently been tackled both theoretically and experimentally; a consistent model is now being developed. As the interactions between the various branches of swarm research have become more and more intense, the most obvious thing to do was putting together a review on the present state of this subject, which is the aim of this book.
Download or read book The Kinetic Theory of Gases written by Leonard B. Loeb and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 746 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A pioneering text in its field, this comprehensive study is one of the most valuable texts and references available. The author explores the classical kinetic theory in the first four chapters, with discussions of the mechanical picture of a perfect gas, the mean free path, and the distribution of molecular velocities. Tbhe fifth chapter deals with the more accurate equations of state, or Van der Waals' equation, and later chapters examine viscosity, heat conduction, surface phenomena, and Browninan movements. The text surveys the application of quantum theory to the problem of specific heats and the contributions of kinetic theory to knowledge of electrical and magnetic properties of molecules, concluding with applications of the kinetic theory to the conduction of electricity in gases. 1934 edition.
Download or read book Fundamentals of Ionized Gases written by Boris M. Smirnov and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-09-19 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive and readily accessible work for studying the physics of ionized gases, based on "Physics of Ionized Gases". The focus remains on fundamentals rather than on the details required for interesting but difficult applications, such as magnetic confinement fusion, or the phenomena that occur with extremely high-intensity short-pulse lasers. However, this new work benefits from much rearranging of the subject matter within each topic, resulting in a more coherent structure. There are also some significant additions, many of which relate to clusters, while other enlarged sections include plasmas in the atmosphere and their applications. In each case, the emphasis is on a clear and unified understanding of the basic physics that underlies all plasma phenomena. Thus, there are chapters on plasma behavior from the viewpoint of atomic and molecular physics, as well as on the macroscopic phenomena involved in physical kinetics of plasmas and the transport of radiation and of charged particles within plasmas. With this grounding in the fundamental physics of plasmas, the notoriously difficult subjects of nonlinear phenomena and of instabilities in plasmas can then be treated with comprehensive clarity. The work is rounded off with appendices containing information and data of great importance and relevance that are not easily found in other books. Valuable reading for graduate and PhD physics students, and a reference for researchers in low-temperature ionized gases-plasma processing, edge region fusion plasma physics, and atmospheric plasmas.

Download or read book Atomic Particles and Atom Systems written by Boris M. Smirnov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-10 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents physical units and widely used physical formulas, which are given together with conversion factors in various units. It includes frequently used atomic spectra and data for atoms, ions and molecules, as well as potential curves for diatomic molecules, and provides numerical parameters for transport phenomena in gases and plasmas. Further, the rate constants of a number of processes in atmospheric ionized air have been added to this second edition of the book. The numerical data has been selected from the information on atoms, atomic systems, atomic processes and models for atomic physics in this area, and the numerical parameters of atoms, ions and atom systems are included in periodical tables of elements.

Download or read book Ion Molecule Reactions written by J. Franklin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a few faint stirrings of interest in ion-molecule reactions during the early days of mass spectrometry, the subject was almost completely neglected for many years. There was a renascence of interest in the subject following pioneering experiments by Tal'roze in Russia and independently by Steven son and Schissler and Field, Franklin, and Lampe in this country. Since that time, interest in the subject has continued to grow and the number of papers published to expand almost exponentially during the past 15 years. The result is a body of literature that is now almost beyond any single individual's capacity for encompassing in his reading and research activities. Thus, it seemed timely to prepare a book giving in some detail a comprehen sive review of the field. Ideally, such a book would be written by one or possibly two authors. Unfortunately, the sheer bulk and variety of the studies of ion-molecule reactions has made it impractical for a single person to prepare a book on the subject in a time that would permit it to be issued before the material covered was obsolete. Consequently, the only practical, although surely not the ideal, solution is to issue a multiauthor volume. The present book represents our best efforts to accomplish this goal. We have secured from 18 authors material representing the most advanced work in the field and the resulting compilation is presented herein.
