This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As mobile devices continue becoming a larger part of our lives, the development of location acquisition technologies to track moving objects have focused the minds of researchers on issues ranging from longitude and latitude coordinates, speed, direction, and timestamping, as part of parameters needed to calculate the positional information and locations of objects, in terms of time and position in the form of trajectory streams. Recently, recent advances have facilitated various urban applications such as smart transportation and mobile delivery services.Unlike other books on spatial databases, mobile computing, data mining, or computing with spatial trajectories, this book is focused on smart transportation applications. This book is a good reference for advanced undergraduates, graduate students, researchers, and system developers working on transportation systems.

Download or read book Graphics Recognition Achievements Challenges and Evolution written by Jean-Marc Ogier and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-06-20 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains refereed and improved papers presented at the 8th IAPR Workshop on Graphics Recognition (GREC 2009), held in La Rochelle, France, July 22–23, 2009. The GREC workshops provide an excellent opportunity for researchersand practitionersat all levels of experience to meet colleaguesand to share new ideas and knowledge about graphics recognition methods. Graphics recognition is a sub?eld of document image analysis that deals with graphical entities in engineering drawings, sketches, maps, architectural plans, musical scores, mathematical notation, tables, diagrams, etc. GREC 2009 continued the tradition of past workshops held in the Penn State University, USA (GREC 1995, LNCS Volume 1072, Springer Verlag, 1996); Nancy, France (GREC 1997, LNCS Volume 1389, Springer Verlag, 1998); Jaipur, India (GREC 1999, LNCS Volume 1941, Springer Verlag, 2000); Kingston, Canada (GREC 2001, LNCS Volume 2390, Springer Verlag, 2002); Barcelona, Spain (GREC 2003, LNCS Volume 3088, Springer Verlag, 2004); Hong Kong, China (GREC 2005, LNCS Volume 3926, Springer Verlag, 2006); and (GREC 2007, LNCS Volume 5046, Springer Verlag, 2008). The programof GREC 2009 was organized in a single-track 2-day workshop. It comprised several sessions dedicated to speci?c topics. For each session, there was an invited presentation describing the state of the art and stating the open questions for the session’s topic, followed by a number of short presentations thatcontributedbyproposingsolutionstosomeofthequestionsorbypresenting results ofthe speaker’swork. Download or read book Paranormal Encounters on Britain s Roads written by Peter A. McCue and published by The History Press. This book was released on 2018-02-19 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this detailed book, Dr Peter McCue reflects on the enormous range of paranormal phenomena to have been reported along Britain's roads, and examines the theory that certain areas seem to be hotspots for such occurrences, such as the A75 and B721 roads in southern Scotland, and the Blue Bell Hill area in Kent. He delves into the sightings of apparitional vehicles; encounters with 'colliding apparitions'; 'phantom hitch-hikers'; out-of-place big cats; phantom black dogs; UFOs; 'missing time' (strange memory gaps); vehicle interferences (such as mysterious breakdowns); and incidents in which drivers and passengers seem to have been translocated in space or time. This thorough book debates the evidence and theories in a critical but open-minded way, and is a welcome addition to the genre.
Download or read book The Making of the African Road written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2017-02-06 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Making of the African Road offers an account of the long-distance road in Africa. Being a latecomer to automobility and far from saturated mass mobility, the African road continues to be open for diverging interpretations and creative appropriations. The road regime on the continent is thus still under construction, and it is made in more than one sense: physically, socially, politically, morally and cosmologically. The contributions to this volume provide first-hand anthropological insights into the infrastructural, economic, historical as well as experiential dimensions of the emerging orders of the African road. Contributors are: Kurt Beck, Amiel Bize, Michael Bürge, Luca Ciabarri, Gabriel Klaeger, Mark Lamont, Tilman Musch, Michael Stasik, Rami Wadelnour.
