Book excerpt: Are we on the brink of a theological war between Conservative Protestant Christianity and the new Charismatic Protestant Christian movement known as the New Apostolic Reformation, (NAR)? Are they as demonic as some well known pastors say? A very debated question. This is a book that must be read by every ex-Catholic that perhaps has second thoughts. Reading this book is assurance the decision was right. And let us not forget those Prosperity preachers who constantly ask for money. This book exposes them even to their very core beliefs which are shocking and unbelievable.

Book World Religions and Cults Volume 1

Download or read book World Religions and Cults Volume 1 written by Bodie Hodge and published by New Leaf Publishing Group. This book was released on 2015-08-13 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Religions in today’s culture seem to be multiplying. Have you ever wondered why certain religions believe and practice what they do? Or how they view the Bible? This volume delves into these and other engaging questions, such as: How can a Christian witness to people in these religions? Do these other religions believe in creation and a Creator? How do we deal with these religions from a biblical authority perspective? Many religions and cults discussed in this first volume openly affirm that the Bible is true, but then something gets in their way. And there is a common factor every time—man’s fallible opinions. In one way or another the Bible gets demoted, reinterpreted, or completely ignored. Man’s ideas are used to throw the Bible’s clear teaching out the window while false teachings are promoted. This book is a must for laymen, church leaders, teachers, and students to understand the trends in our culture and around the world where certain religions dominate, helping you discern truth and guard your faith. When you understand a religion’s origins and teachings, you are in a better position to know how to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ as you take the good news to those in false religions.

Download or read book The Cult of the Saints written by Peter Brown and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2014-11-12 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new edition of the “brilliantly original and highly sophisticated” study of saint worship after the fall of the Roman Empire (Library Journal). In this groundbreaking work, Peter Brown explores how the worship of saints and their corporeal remains became central to religious life in Western Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire. During this period, earthly remnants served as a heavenly connection, and their veneration is a fascinating window into the cultural mood of a region in transition. Brown challenges the long-held two-tier idea of religion that separated the religious practices of the sophisticated elites from those of the superstitious masses, instead arguing that the cult of the saints crossed boundaries and played a dynamic part in both the Christian faith and the larger world of late antiquity. He shows how men and women living in harsh and sometimes barbaric times relied upon the holy dead to obtain justice, forgiveness, and power, and how a single sainted hair could inspire great thinkers and great artists. An essential text by one of the foremost scholars of European history, this expanded edition includes a new preface from Brown, which presents new ideas based on subsequent scholarship. “Informative…demonstrates once again Brown’s genius for sharing with his readers the fruits of not only his own painstaking and meticulous scholarship but also his penetrating understanding of the evolution of Western culture as a whole.”—Religious Studies

Book The roman Catholic Church Cult Vs Spirit Led Catholicism

Download or read book The roman Catholic Church Cult Vs Spirit Led Catholicism written by Francis C Pompei and published by . This book was released on 2021-03-12 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sex abuse, pedophilia, cover-ups, corruption in the hierarchy, several Popes having illegitimate children, Bishops and Priests guilty of sex abuse of adults, rampant homosexual orgies in Vatican City, schisms, crusades, inquisitions, corrupt banking practices, and the horrific suffering caused throughout history and present day, are the result of Powers, Principalities, and Spirits from the kingdom of darkness that have entered and infected the 'Roman' Catholic Church. The underlying issue is that the Evil that has infected the 'Roman' Catholic Church is the same Evil that affects governments and all religions and institutions when unbridled power is appropriated in the hands of one or a few, instead of from, by, and of God. Evil has enslaved human nature to Power, Money, Sex, and Hedonism This book is not an attack on the Catholic Church, but to expose the systemic Evil that has infected the Catholic Church for centuries because of the 'Roman' empire's influence. It is also an invitation to reform by the wisdom of the Holy Spirit and 'What to do' in the meantime for the faithful as part of the 'Remnant' promised by Jesus for the end times. Jesus gave us the answer and the way through the whole mess, and that is the Holy Spirit. Who then is the Holy Spirit and how do we experience the Spirit's unconditional love, wisdom, guidance, and power? "The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you ALL things and will remind you of everything I have told you." (John 14:26) THE 'ROMAN' CATHOLIC CHURCH: Like all humans, as the Church grew, it was tempted by Original Sin to appropriate power and authority to itself, to be like God and the sole dispensers of the divine. - Whether knowing it or not the Roman Empire imposed their political and government structure on Christianity, placing the Holy Spirit under the umbrella of the Church. - Gradually, Christianity became more political to appease both the spiritual and political needs of the people. This kind of reasoning opened the door for Evil, as it did in the Garden of Eden, for authority, power, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit to only be in the hands of men who occupied appointed offices. Only a bishop could discern the Holy Spirit. Only a priest could anoint and preside at Eucharist and hear Confessions. Only deacons and priests could preach, perform marriages, and bless. Now the gifts of the Holy Spirit were no longer given to whomever the Spirit chose, but only to these who held the government appointed offices- the pope, local bishops, pastors, and local clergy. - THE RESULT: Leadership and Clergy In the 'Roman' Church had the office and authority, but many lacked the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Book Catholic Cults and Devotions

Download or read book Catholic Cults and Devotions written by Michael P. Carroll and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 1989 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Imagine a heart which has been ripped from a man's body, wrapped with thorns, pierced with a knife, and then placed on the man's chest; or a group of people who believe that wearing a small rectangle of wool next to their skin ensures that they will go to heaven - as long as it is brown wool and worn continuously. Although psychoanalysts have long investigated similar ideas and beliefs, they have ignored popular Catholicism, even though behaviour such as this occurs over and over again in the history of Catholic cults and devotions.
