The first line--The History of the Lord's Recovery--contains chapters 2 through 5 of Fellowship concerning the Urgent Need of the Vital Groups, which are in volume 3 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1991–1992. These chapters contain fellowship concerning the practice of the group meetings in the God-ordained way, the practice of the vital groups with much consideration, prayer, and labor, and practical fellowship concerning the group meetings. The second line--Words for New Believers--continues with chapters 15 through 18 of Basic Principles of the Experience of Life, which are in volume 3 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1963. The chapters in this section speak of dealing with the Spirit, the anointing, and transformation. The third line--Maturing in Life--contains chapters 1 through 4 of The Way to Practice the Lord's Present Move, which are in volume 5 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1985. These chapters speak of the need of the present world, the divine truths in the Lord's recovery, and the blessing on the Lord's recovery, and of going by rising up by being filled with the consummated Spirit essentially and economically. They further speak of the Word and the Spirit for the meetings and of our need to be experienced in the Word and filled with the Spirit for the increase and the meetings. The fourth line--The High Peak of the Divine Revelation--continues with chapters 3 through 6 of The History of God in His Union with Man, which are in volume 4 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1991–1992. These chapters focus on God's history in time through His restoration of the judged universe and creation of man, through His saving of man from his fall, through His working on His saints from Abel to Noah and His judging of the world from Cain to Babel, and through His working on His elect from Abraham to Joseph.

According to God’s salvation, to repent is to turn from the things outside of God to God Himself, because the central thought of God’s salvation is that God Himself wants to come into man to be his life and nature. Then out of this life and nature there will be a result, that is, the excellent fruit borne of the Holy Spirit as the issue of the operation of God after He has entered into man. If we draw near to God, treasure Him, and live before Him in this way, we will live out His virtues by living in another realm, a realm in which the life of God is being expressed through us. In this issue we also include the last six messages of the Crystallization- study of Revelation held in the winter of 1999 in Long Beach, California. Message Seven strongly indicates that spiritual warfare is a necessity, as seen by the vision of the war in heaven and the war at Armageddon. God wants His creature man to deal with His fallen creature Satan; for this, the human will must stand with the divine will. The burden of Message Eight is that all the saints in the Lord’s recovery would be perfected in this age to reign with Christ in the kingdom of a thousand years in the next age. Messages Nine, Ten, Eleven, and Twelve conclude the training with the vision of the New Jerusalem as the ultimate consummation of several wonderful items. It is the consummation of the divine economy, of the divine building, of the divine romance, of the new covenant of grace, of the new creation, of the mingling of the Triune God with the tripartite man, and of the Triune God as our entrance, constitution, existence, enjoyment, living, and expression. The following six messages are from the Crystallization-study of the Gospel of Matthew given during the winter training in December 2000 in Anaheim, California. The following four statements express the main points of the burden: 1) God’s intention in regenerating us is to bring us under His heavenly rule, 2) the reality of the kingdom of the heavens is Christ as the life-giving Spirit ruling within us, 3) to live in the reality of the kingdom we need to live out the indwelling Christ as our subjective righteousness, and 4) we need to deny the self, take up the cross, and lose the soul-life for the building of the church in the reality of the kingdom. In the next few issues of The Ministry, we will include some important matters of fellowship which were given during the winter training of 2000. The fellowship concerning the burden for migration to London, England is presented in this issue.

Book excerpt: This issue of The Ministry of the Word contains the first seven messages given during the Fall 2019 term of the full-time training in Anaheim, California. The general subject of this series of messages is “The Christian Life. ”A Christian is one with Christ and belongs to Christ, has Christ’s life and nature, and lives by Christ and lives Christ. The Christian life is a life in which the believers live Christ and magnify Christ—the One who has the unique, eternal life and who is the center of the Divine Trinity and the embodiment of the Triune God. God desires that the divine life and the human life be joined to become one life; this oneness is a union in life. The Christian life is not an exchanged life—the exchange of a lower life for a higher one—but a grafted life—the grafting of the redeemed human life into the divine life and the mingling of the human life with the divine life. Through this grafting, we are united, mingled, and incorporated with Christ to become in Him an enlarged, universal, divine and human incorporation—the Body of Christ, which consummates the New Jerusalem. We need to increase in the excellency of the knowledge of the all-inclusive, unsearchably rich Christ, who wants to live His life in us. Christ is the will-of-God-man, the unique One who seeks the Father’s will, the One who lives in the reality of the kingdom of the heavens, the reality-of-God-man, a man under authority, the One who was obedient unto death, and the Triune God-man. The genuine Christian life is a life filled with the processed and consummated Triune God. The Triune God, processed and consummated in the divine economy, is the contents of the Christian life. In order to understand what the Christian life is, we need to see a vision of the all-inclusive indwelling Spirit as the consummation of the processed and consummated Triune God. We need to realize that the Triune God has been processed and consummated to be the all-inclusive indwelling Spirit. The normal Christian life depends upon our knowing and experiencing the all-inclusive indwelling Spirit as breath. The consummated Spirit as the breath is everything to us in living the Christian life; only the breath, the Spirit, can be a Christian. The Triune God in Christ is life to us by shining in our hearts. In the Bible there is a close, inseparable connection between light and life. If we want to grow in life, we need more of the light of life. The gospel is the gospel of the glory of God, which shines in the human heart, begetting life through regeneration in our spirit. The more we exercise our spirit to contact Christ who is life, the more light we receive. Then as light shines through the Word, fellowship, and ministry, spontaneously more life comes forth. This is the cycle of the Christian life in the experience and growth in life. The illumination of the knowledge of the glory of God is in the face of Jesus Christ; this indicates that the gospel of the glory of Christ is a lovely person in whose face we can see the glory of God. Through the illumination of the gospel of the glory of Christ, the Christ of glory as the excellent treasure is received by the believers; now the shining reality of Christ, the embodiment and expression of the Triune God, is the treasure within us. The Spirit of reality guides us into all the divine reality, which is the Triune God and His word. Through the Spirit, the reality of the Triune God is transmitted into us; thus, the reality into which the Spirit guides us is the reality of the Triune God. As the Spirit of reality guides us into the divine reality by transmitting this reality into us, the divine reality—the processed and consummated Triune God—becomes the constituent of our being. The Christian life comes out of such a constituting work of the Spirit. The Spirit has been commissioned by the Godhead in His Trinity to come to function by applying what God the Son, Christ, has accomplished according to what God the Father has planned in His economy. The New Testament reveals various functions of the all-inclusive Spirit in the Christian life. The all-inclusive Spirit gives life to the believers; sanctifies the believers, saturating all the inward parts of their being with God’s nature of holiness; renews the believers; transforms the believers; searches and reveals to the believers all things concerning Christ as the depths of God; becomes the joy in the believers for the kingdom of God; and becomes the essence for the organic building up of the Body of Christ, which building up is the total function of the all-inclusive Spirit dwelling in all of us. To live the Christian life, we need to have a vision of the seven aspects of Christ’s person and work in His all-inclusive death. In His all-inclusive death Christ was the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world; died as a man in the flesh, causing sin to be condemned in the flesh by God; was the last Adam, causing the old man to be crucified; was the Firstborn of all creation, terminating the old creation; was the reality of the bronze serpent, destroying the devil, who has the might of death; died as the Peacemaker; and died as a grain of wheat falling into the ground for the release of the divine life to produce many grains. These messages, given at a crucial time in the Lord’s recovery, unveil the practice of the new way which the Lord gave to the churches through Brother Lee’s ministry and practical leading. In the message which we include here, Brother Lee emphasizes our need to carry out the begetting, nourishing, and teaching in the meetings in the believers’ homes. To carry out the new way, we must no longer build up the big meetings of the church, which have the clergy-laity system as their root. This truly involves a spiritual warfare, so we must struggle every step of the way, especially in prayer, to participate in the fighting service in God’s economy. The subsequent six messages are from the second half of the Living Stream Ministry’s Summer Training of 1997, entitled The Crucial Contents of God’s New Testament Ministry. This training, which followed immediately after our brother’s departure, was a thorough review of the contents of the New Testament ministry, which he brought to us over many years. On the occasion of Brother Lee’s departure, we can consider all that the Lord has unveiled to us, all the truths which were recovered for us through our brother’s faithful ministry, to bring us into the Lord’s recovery and into the experience of Christ and the reality of the Body of Christ for God’s eternal economy to consummate the New Jerusalem. The local churches raised up under this ministry will speak these things, teach these things, write these things, and live these things until we meet the Lord. Last, we include an encouraging report on the spread of the ministry through the marketing of our publications in Christian bookstores. We also report on the work to produce the Recovery Version of the New Testament in the Russian language, which is now in its fifth and final year. A letter from the co-workers in the former Soviet Union brings us up to date on the Lord’s move there in the first training for the responsible brothers and the recent winter training held in Moscow, and letters from Berlin, Germany report on the progress in publishing and distributing books by Watchman Nee in the German language.

Book excerpt: In this issue of The Ministry we include the final six messages from the Spring 2002 International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones held in Anaheim, California. The general subject of the training was knowing the Body. Three messages were on the specific topic of knowing the Body—the building up of the Body, and the last three messages were practical fellowship concerning the functioning of the elders. Under the topic of knowing the Body--the building up of the Body, the first message emphasizes that as we grow up into Christ, the Head, in all things, our function will come out from the Head for the building up of the Body of Christ. The second message points out what the living and service of the Body of Christ is. The living of the Body of Christ includes: 1) taking Christ as its Head, life, content, principal object, center, and goal, 2) having the Spirit as its essence and reality and taking the Spirit as its secret and effectiveness, 3) taking the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ as its regulation, and 4) taking life and the Body as the principle. The service of the Body of Christ is living, organic, and particular, with each member receiving a particular burden from the Lord to fulfill his own service. The third message reveals the divine commission according to the heavenly vision for the increase and building up of the Body.
