Book The Ministry Myth of the First Lady

Download or read book The Ministry Myth of the First Lady written by Clifford E. Turner and published by . This book was released on 2006-04 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The First Lady is one of the most vital, yet obscure roles in the church. Some see the First Lady as a big-hat wearing, non-stop shopping, St. John wearing, looking-good-but-no-substance woman behind the man of God. Others see the First Lady as a call, a position, and a place of authority that God ordained to fulfill kingdom purposes. God has always entrusted women with power, influence, and purpose. Every woman in ministry, whether a First Lady, Pastor, or deaconess, needs to gain insight and training concerning her call. The Ministry (& Myth) of the First Lady clearly define the attributes necessary for every woman in ministry to be one that "excellest them all" (Proverbs 31:29).

Book Myth and reality of the missionary family

Download or read book Myth and reality of the missionary family written by Isobel Reid and published by African Books Collective. This book was released on 2024-06-03 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Isobel Reid offers a concise account of the origins, establishment, and some internal dynamics of the Livingstonia Mission, in particular those impacting missionary families as seen through the eyes of a young missionary couple at its Bandawe station. This study not only demonstrates a general awareness of the roie and initiative of the people of Northern Malawi, among whom and with whom the Scottish missionaries lived and worked, but also of the specific importance of interpersonal relationships between Scottish and Malawian women - as in the case of Marie Martin and her Tonga women friends. Race as the primary dividing line was thus subverted by mutual gender awareness. From 1978 Isobel Reid, a qualified nurse/midwife, with her doctor husband and young family lived for 18 months on Ekwendeni CCPA Mission Station before transferring to Mzuzu where Dr. Reid was in charge of St John's Roman Catholic Mission Hospital for four further years. A consequent academic interest in mission history resulted in an MTh (Edinburgh 1999) which provided the basis for this book.

Book Boys will be Boys and Other Myths

Download or read book Boys will be Boys and Other Myths written by Will Moore and published by SCM Press. This book was released on 2022-07-28 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, we have exalted and theologised about men like Adam or David to the point where we have become oblivious to the fact that they are far from perfect role models for Christian manhood. Failing to read scripture properly, we have used it to shape a distorted understanding of masculinity. Stretching from issues of violence, emotional and sexual abuse, the desire for power, homophobia, and the suppression of emotions, Will Moore draws from scholarship, personal stories, and popular culture to offer an honest and accessible insight into the toxic myths which frame how w e read scripture. Only when we expose these myths, he argues, can we start to see the authentic men staring straight back at us from the pages of our bibles, and be able to reshape the way in which we produce Christian men today, tackling the violence that is being done by men to themselves and others.

Book Church Myths or Biblical Truth Questions to Ponder

Download or read book Church Myths or Biblical Truth Questions to Ponder written by Rejeaner Joy and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-02-08 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As believers, we know we are to study the Bible, memorize it, and obey it. But does the Bible say what we think it says? There are many phrases that sound like they come from the Bible, but are they right? Are they scriptural? Are they part of God's plan for His church? Or are they culturally induced beliefs and practices that have been developed out of traditions of men and are contrary to God's expressed directions? The writer invites you to examine a little closer your beliefs as we examine some familiar statements of questions to determine if they are church myths or biblical truths. The purpose of this book is to examine some beliefs that are widespread throughout the institutional church as biblical truths; statements such as "Come as you are;" "Once saved, always saved;" and "Christians cannot live under a curse," and many others.

Book Spirit of A First Lady

    Book Details:
  • Author : Zena Campbell
  • Publisher : Page Publishing Inc
  • Release : 2022-06-30
  • ISBN : 1662451202
  • Pages : 123 pages

Download or read book Spirit of A First Lady written by Zena Campbell and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-06-30 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To every married man of the cloth that’s in high office of a bishop, pastor, or apostle, that has a church building or a place of worship, the title of First Lady automatically becomes a part of her life, whether they have the right spirit or not. When you search the word First Lady, you will find that the only definition is the wife of the president of the United States. In most denominations, pastor’s wives are First Ladies in the church world. It sounds distinguished and looks glamorous, but all it means is you are the wife of a leader of an organization. Being a married couple, you are one, so that means his load becomes your load and his hurts becomes your hurt and so on. Being in ministry and being the wife of a pastor is a very serious position in the body of Christ; you must be supportive in every way, working diligently for the kingdom of God. I’ve seen, met, and fellowshipped with many of them and came to the realization that the characteristics of a First Lady (wife of a pastor) must be spiritual. Some First Ladies sit like trophies on a shelf, looking beautiful, shinning like a diamond, but as she began to sit and look like a queen, without the love and spirit of God living on the inside of her heart, dust will begin to land on the surface of her heart clogging up her ears, blinding up her eyes, and showing fourth what the Bible calls the spirit of darkness. As you begin to read and meditate on the spirit of a First Lady, you will see how having the spirit of God living inside you makes the difference in dealing with people who the word of God call souls weather there in or out of the church. You will also see that underneath that exquisite hat is a radiant smile, a heart full of praise, and a never-ending blessing.

Book 49 Myths about China

Download or read book 49 Myths about China written by Marte Kjær Galtung and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-11-13 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communism is dead in China. “China Inc.” is buying up the world. China has the United States over a barrel. The Chinese are just copycats. China is an environmental baddie, China is colonizing Africa. Mao was a monster. The end of the Communist regime is near. The 21st century belongs to China. Or does it? Marte Kjær Galtung and Stig Stenslie highlight 49 prevalent myths about China’s past, present, and future and weigh their truth or fiction. Leading an enlightening and entertaining tour, the authors debunk widespread “knowledge” about Chinese culture, society, politics, and economy. In some cases, Chinese themselves encourage mistaken impressions. But many of these myths are really about how we Westerners see ourselves, inasmuch as China or the Chinese people are depicted as what we are not. Western perceptions of the empire in the East have for centuries oscillated between sinophilia and sinophobia, influenced by historical changes in the West as much as by events in China. This timely and provocative book offers an engaging and compelling window on a rising power we often misunderstand.
