Book Applied Text Mining

Download or read book Applied Text Mining written by Usman Qamar and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2024 with total page 505 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook covers the concepts, theories, and implementations of text mining and natural language processing (NLP). It covers both the theory and the practical implementation, and every concept is explained with simple and easy-to-understand examples. It consists of three parts. In Part 1 which consists of three chapters details about basic concepts and applications of text mining are provided, including eg sentiment analysis and opinion mining. It builds a strong foundation for the reader in order to understand the remaining parts. In the five chapters of Part 2, all the core concepts of text analytics like feature engineering, text classification, text clustering, text summarization, topic mapping, and text visualization are covered. Finally, in Part 3 there are three chapters covering deep-learning-based text mining, which is the dominating method applied to practically all text mining tasks nowadays. Various deep learning approaches to text mining are covered, including models for processing and parsing text, for lexical analysis, and for machine translation. All three parts include large parts of Python code that shows the implementation of the described concepts and approaches. The textbook was specifically written to enable the teaching of both basic and advanced concepts from one single book. The implementation of every text mining task is carefully explained, based Python as the programming language and Spacy and NLTK as Natural Language Processing libraries. The book is suitable for both undergraduate and graduate students in computer science and engineering.

Book Introduction to Data Mining for the Life Sciences

Download or read book Introduction to Data Mining for the Life Sciences written by Rob Sullivan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-07 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data mining provides a set of new techniques to integrate, synthesize, and analyze tdata, uncovering the hidden patterns that exist within. Traditionally, techniques such as kernel learning methods, pattern recognition, and data mining, have been the domain of researchers in areas such as artificial intelligence, but leveraging these tools, techniques, and concepts against your data asset to identify problems early, understand interactions that exist and highlight previously unrealized relationships through the combination of these different disciplines can provide significant value for the investigator and her organization.

Download or read book Argument Mining written by Mathilde Janier and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-12-12 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction to the linguistic concepts of argumentation relevant for argument mining, an important research and development activity which can be viewed as a highly complex form of information retrieval, requiring high-level natural language processing technology. While the first four chapters develop the linguistic and conceptual aspects of argument expression, the last four are devoted to their application to argument mining. These chapters investigate the facets of argument annotation, as well as argument mining system architectures and evaluation. How annotations may be used to develop linguistic data and how to train learning algorithms is outlined. A simple implementation is then proposed. The book ends with an analysis of non-verbal argumentative discourse. Argument Mining is an introductory book for engineers or students of linguistics, artificial intelligence and natural language processing. Most, if not all, the concepts of argumentation crucial for argument mining are carefully introduced and illustrated in a simple manner.

Book excerpt: Named to The Washington Post's 2011 List of Best Leadership Books In this fast-reading and illuminating expanded edition of the bestselling Leader's Checklist, world-renowned leadership expert Michael Useem deepens his examination of 15 mission-critical principles for leaders Based on the lessons from astonishing stories, solid research, and years of leadership development work with a wide array of companies and organizations in the United States and abroad, Useem presents today's leaders with 15 guiding principles that form the core of the Leader's Checklist, which will help you develop your ability to make good and timely decisions in unpredictable and stressful environments—for those moments when leadership really matters. To illustrate how the Leader's Checklist can assist leaders, Useem zeroes in on accounts of extraordinary leaders who rose to the challenge, including Laurence Golborne's role in the triumphant rescue of 33 miners in Chile, Joseph Pfeifer's remarkable heroism as the first FDNY Fire Chief to take command at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, and Union officer Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain's transformative actions after the Confederate army's surrender. He also explores the colossal failure of AIG, one of the greatest corporate collapses in business history. First published exclusively as an ebook—and now also available in print—this updated and expanded edition features a new preface by the author and three new Knowledge@Wharton interviews with Laurence Golborne, Chile's Minister of Mining, on leading the rescue operation of 33 miners trapped in the San José Mine; Joseph Pfeifer, New York City Fire Department's Chief of Counterterrorism and Emergency Preparedness, on being the first Battalion Chief to take command at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001; and the author on why he wrote The Leader's Checklist and what he has learned about the most vital items on the checklist from his recent leadership development work with more than a dozen companies and organizations.
