Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Miller Family: An Address Delivered Before the Miller Family Re-Union Association, at North Waldoboro, Maine, September 7, 1904 I would suggest that the recipients of this pamphlet carefully ex amine it, correct any errors that maybe detected therein, on blank leavesto be inserted in their proper places, and add such information thereto which will make the history of the family more interesting and com plete, with the object in view, that at some future time, the pamphlets be called in and another edition published to make as correct as possible a publication of this kind. As I have gone so far in the undertaking, I would further suggest that all pamphlets which have been corrected and to which any new or additional material has been added, be returned to me by July 1, 1910. Upon their receipt I will copy the added informa tion, and return the pamphlets to the senders. I have supplemented this address with a few sketches of members of different branches of the family, in the hope that their appearance at this time may incite the indifferent to action, and awaken renewed interest among those who have materially aided me in the past in gathering and furnishing material for a family history, and which I trust may be published in the not far distant future. If this end is at tained, I shall feel that my efforts, however imperfectly performed, will be a sufficient reward for the time and labor spent in the undertaking. Lewis's grandparents left Ballinasloe (Ireland) and settled in New Jersey in 1843, and then in Norwalk (Wisconsin). Their youngest son Lewis married Bertha Orpha Miller, the descendant of the British immigrant Obadiah Miller (b. 1645). Lewis and Bertha married in 1900 in Wisconsin. From the 1600-1800's, other Nolans, Millers, and other allied families lived in: Canada, Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Some later families also moved to California, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, North and South Carolina, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and elsewhere.
