Book excerpt: This book presents the current coil winding methods, their associated technologies and the associated automation techniques. From the introduction as a forming joining process, over the physical properties of coils, the semifinished products (wire, coil body, insulation) are introduced. In the process chain, different winding methods are used for magnet wire winding. Finally, the automation of these processes is described.

Book The Mechanics of Mechanical Watches and Clocks

Download or read book The Mechanics of Mechanical Watches and Clocks written by Ruxu Du and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-09-21 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Mechanics of Mechanical Watches and Clocks" presents historical views and mathematical models of mechanical watches and clocks. Although now over six hundred years old, mechanical watches and clocks are still popular luxury items that fascinate many people around the world. However few have examined the theory of how they work as presented in this book. The illustrations and computer animations are unique and have never been published before. It will be of significant interest to researchers in mechanical engineering, watchmakers and clockmakers, as well as people who have an engineering background and are interested in mechanical watches and clocks. It will also inspire people in other fields of science and technology, such as mechanical engineering and electronics engineering, to advance their designs. Professor Ruxu Du works at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China. Assistant Professor Longhan Xie works at the South China University of Technology, China.

Book Viscoelastic Winding Mechanics

Download or read book Viscoelastic Winding Mechanics written by American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Winter Annual Meeting and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The viscoelastic analysis of tape systems composed of rate-dependent materials is presented. Histories for winding, winding-pause, and winding-pause-unwinding are considered. The winding problem is reduced to determining the appropriate Green's function by numerical solution of a Volterra integral equation of the second kind. This Green's function and integral superposition permits the evaluation of the stress and displacement fields in the tape system for any winding history. Viscoelastic unwinding is treated by the superposition of two-states -- one determined from the initial condition of the tape when unwinding begins and the second state given in terms of an arbitrary external pressure evaluated by solving an integral equation. Numerical results are presented for several histories and representative material properties.

Book The Clock of Ages

Download or read book The Clock of Ages written by John J. Medina and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1997-08-13 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anyone who has watched a wrinkle slowly gouge their face like a strip mine, or has been disturbed by a loss of memory, has uncomfortably confronted the human ageing process. The inexorable march of time on our bodies begs an important question: why do we have to grow old? Written in everyday language, The Clock of Ages takes us on a tour of the ageing human body - all from a research scientist's point of view. From the deliberate creation of organisms that live three times their natural span to the isolation of human genes that may allow us to do the same, The Clock of Ages also examines the latest discoveries in geriatric genetics. Sprinkled throughout the pages are descriptions of the aging of many historical figures, such as Florence Nightingale, Jane Austen, Bonaparte and Casanova. These stories underscore the common bond that unites us all: they aged, even as we do. The Clock of Ages tells you why.

Book Fundamentals of Mechanics of Robotic Manipulation

Download or read book Fundamentals of Mechanics of Robotic Manipulation written by Marco Ceccarelli and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-03-30 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book explores the fundamental issues of robot mechanics for both the analysis and design of manipulations, manipulators and grippers, taking into account a central role of mechanics and mechanical structures in the development and use of robotic systems with mechatronic design. It examines manipulations that can be performed by robotic manipulators. The contents of the book are kept at a fairly practical level with the aim to teach how to model, simulate, and operate robotic mechanical systems. The chapters have been written and organized in a way that they can be red even separately, so that they can be used separately for different courses and purposes. The introduction illustrates motivations and historical developments of robotic mechanical systems. Chapter 2 describes the analysis and design of manipulations by automatic machinery and robots; chapter 3 deals with the mechanics of serial-chain manipulators with the aim to propose algorithms for analysis, simulation, and design purposes; chapter 4 introduces the mechanics of parallel manipulators; chapter 5 addresses the attention to mechanical grippers and related mechanics of grasping.

Book Intelligent Control in Energy Systems

Download or read book Intelligent Control in Energy Systems written by Anastasios Dounis and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-08-26 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The editors of this Special Issue titled “Intelligent Control in Energy Systems” have attempted to create a book containing original technical articles addressing various elements of intelligent control in energy systems. In response to our call for papers, we received 60 submissions. Of those submissions, 27 were published and 33 were rejected. In this book, we offer the 27 accepted technical articles as well as one editorial. Authors from 15 countries (China, Netherlands, Spain, Tunisia, United Sates of America, Korea, Brazil, Egypt, Denmark, Indonesia, Oman, Canada, Algeria, Mexico, and the Czech Republic) elaborate on several aspects of intelligent control in energy systems. The book covers a broad range of topics including fuzzy PID in automotive fuel cell and MPPT tracking, neural networks for fuel cell control and dynamic optimization of energy management, adaptive control on power systems, hierarchical Petri Nets in microgrid management, model predictive control for electric vehicle battery and frequency regulation in HVAC systems, deep learning for power consumption forecasting, decision trees for wind systems, risk analysis for demand side management, finite state automata for HVAC control, robust μ-synthesis for microgrids, and neuro-fuzzy systems in energy storage.
