Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analyzing power behavior and the isospin-dependence of the cross sections for near-threshold 13C(/rvec p/, .pi./sup +-/) and 12C(/rvec p/, .pi.) reactions are compared with expectations from pion production measurements in free two-nucleon collisions. The general agreement for (/rvec p/, .pi.) suggests that the stable analyzing power pattern observed for (/rvec p/, .pi./sup /minus//) continuum transitions may reflect the as yet unmeasured free /rvec p/n .-->. pp.pi./sup /minus// behavior. We also discuss constraints imposed by quasifree /rvec N/N .-->. NN.pi. expectations on the interpretation of anomalous (/rvec p/, .pi.+) results for two strongly populated states at high excitation in /sup 13,14/C. 21 refs., 3 figs.

Book Yet Another Way to Measure Gamma

Download or read book Yet Another Way to Measure Gamma written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We show that the CKM phase 2[beta]+P[gamma] can be extracted from measurement of the time dependent rates in the decays[bar B][sup 0][yields] D[sup (*)[+-]] M[sup[-+]], where M= a[sub 0], [pi](1300), b[sub 1], a[sub 2], [pi][sub 2], [rho][sub 3]. These channels have a large asymmetry between decays of[bar B][sup 0] and B[sup 0] into the same final state. Even though the branching ratios are small, their sensitivity to[gamma] can be competitive with decays into D[sup (*)] and ([pi], [rho], a[sub 1]).

Book On the Physical Relevance of the Study of Gamma Gamma Pi Pi at Small T and Large Q2

Download or read book On the Physical Relevance of the Study of Gamma Gamma Pi Pi at Small T and Large Q2 written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We discuss the relevance of a dedicated measurement of exclusive production of a pair of neutral pions in a hard [gamma]*[gamma] scattering at small momentum transfer. In this case, the virtuality of one photon provides us with a hard scale in the process, enabling us to perform a QCD calculation of this reaction rate using the concept of Transition Distribution Amplitudes (TDA). Those are related by sum rules to the pion axial form factor F{sub A}{sup [pi]} and, as a direct consequence, a cross-section measurement of this process at intense beam electron-positron colliders such as CLEO, KEK-B and PEP-II, or Super-B would provide us with a unique measurement of the neutral pion axial form factor F{sub A}{sup [pi]0} at small scale. We believe that our models for the photon to meson transition distribution amplitudes are sufficiently constrained to give reasonable orders of magnitude for the estimated cross sections. Cross sections are large enough for quantitative studies to be performed at high luminosity ee− colliders. After verifying the scaling and the [phi] independence of the cross section, one should be able to measure these new hadronic matrix elements, and thus open a new gate to the understanding of the hadronic structure. In particular, we argued here that the study of [gamma]*[gamma] 2![pi]°{pi}° in the TDA regime could provide with a unique experimental measurement of the {pi}° axial form factor.

Book Measurement of the Gamma Gamma to Eta c Transition Form Factor

Download or read book Measurement of the Gamma Gamma to Eta c Transition Form Factor written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors study the reaction ee− 2!ee− [eta]{sub c}, [eta]{sub c} 2!K{sub S}K{sup ±}[pi]{sup {-+}} and obtain [eta]{sub c} mass and width values 2982.2 ± 0.4 ± 1.6 MeV/c2 and 31.7 ± 1.2 ± 0.8 MeV, respectively. They find [Lambda]([eta]{sub c} 2![gamma][gamma])[Beta]([eta]{sub c} 2!K{bar K}[pi]) = 0.374 ± 0.009 {+-} 0.031 keV, and measure the [gamma][gamma]* 2![eta]{sub c} transition form factor in the momentum transfer range from 2 to 50 GeV2. The analysis is based on 469 fb−1 of integrated luminosity collected at PEP-II with the BABAR detector at e+e− center-of-mass energies near 10.6 GeV.

Book Measurement of the Polarization Parameter for the Reaction pi sup p Yields pi n Between 1 03 and 1 79 GeV c

Download or read book Measurement of the Polarization Parameter for the Reaction pi sup p Yields pi n Between 1 03 and 1 79 GeV c written by and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From 2nd international conference on elementary particles; Aixen- Provence, France (6 Sep 1973). Measurements of the polarization parameter for the reaction pi −p yields pi /sup o/n were made at the five momenta 1.03, 1.245, 1.44, 1.5 and 1.79 GeV/c. A polarized target was used, with polarizations achieved ranging from 48 to 57%. Salient features of the experiment were the use of neutron counters for time-of-flight measurements as well as angular information and the use of optical spark chambers, seven to eight radiation lengths thick, for the detection of the gamma rays from the decay of the pi /sup o/. The center-ofmass angular range covered by the 20 neutron counters was typically --.78

Book Measurement of Gamma in B to D K and B to D K Decays with a Dalitz Analysis of D to Ks Pi Pi

This book was released on 2005 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa CP-violating phase {gamma} with a Dalitz plot analysis of neutral D-meson decays to the K{sub S}{sup 0} {pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup +} final state from B{sup {-+}} {yields} D{sup (*)}K{sup {-+}} and B{sup {-+}} {yields} DK*{sup {-+}} decays, using a sample of 227 million B{bar B} pairs collected by the BABAR detector. We measure {gamma} = (67 {+-} 28 {+-} 13 {+-} 11){sup o}, where the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty and the third reflects the Dalitz model uncertainty. This result suffers from a two-fold ambiguity. The contribution to the Dalitz model uncertainty due to the description of the {pi}{pi} S-wave in D{sup 0} {yields} K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup +}, evaluated using a K-matrix formalism, is found to be 3{sup o}.

Book An Analysis Of Gamma P P Pi sup Pi sup Using The CLAS Detector

Download or read book An Analysis Of Gamma P P Pi sup Pi sup Using The CLAS Detector written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two charged pion final states are studied for GeV photons incident on protons. The data come from Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility using the CLAS detector. A tagged photon beam of 0.5-2.4 GeV/c was produced through bremsstrahlung radiation and was incident on a liquid H[sub 2] target. This analysis looks at the reaction [gamma]p [yields] p[pi][sup +][pi][sup -] using a partial wave analyis to identify intermediate baryon resonances. Total cross section is compared to previous experiments and preliminary differential cross sections for intermediate baryon resonance quantum numbers are shown.

This book was released on 1973 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sample of ~70,000 fitted events of the reaction pi /sup -/p yields pi /sup -/ i/sup -/ pi /sup +/p at 25 and 40 GeV/c was obtained with the CERN-WEP Boson Spectrometer at the Serpukhov Accelerator. A partial-wave analysis shows that: A/sub 1/ and A/sup 3/ cannot be described by a Breit--Wigner amplitude; the A/sub 2/ can be well described by a Breit--Wigner amplitude; although A/sup 1/, A/ sup 3/, and A/sup 2/ have different properties, the e nergy dependence of their production cross section is similar.
