Book The Viable Map Workbook

Download or read book The Viable Map Workbook written by Steve Morlidge et al and published by Beyond Books Press. This book was released on 2023-03-31 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beyond Budgeting is an idea that has been around for nearly two decades, and many members of the community have written books about the concepts and how to put them into practice. It has become clear, however, that companies attracted to these ideas have sometimes struggled to implement Beyond Budgeting, often because they have not understood the subtlety or the full implications of the ideas and how to execute change. In addition, those of us leading the Beyond Budgeting movement want to have the biggest impact on the world that we possibly can. And to do this we need to find a way to help as many people as possible to join us in putting these ideas into practice, without investing as much time and effort as we have getting to grips with them. The Viable Map is based on an idea that we have worked with for a number of years that helps people to describe their current management model in terms that made it easy for them to see what they needed to do to bring it into line with Beyond Budgeting principles. The original ideas have been improved and extended to create a methodology that helps managers and leaders to better understand Beyond Budgeting at a practical level, to describe their existing model, diagnose what is wrong with it and design a better one. The key idea in the book is that an organisation’s management model must be coherent, in other words be a good ‘fit’ both the nature of the environment in which it operates and the qualities of its people. Thus, its management processes (as defined by the Beyond Budgeting process principles) must be more adaptive when the environment is unpredictable and have a more devolved culture (as defined by the Beyond Budgeting leadership principles). The map itself is a simple grid upon which people can plot their Management Model and the book provides detailed guidance on how to do with with reference to typical practices and methods and how to help ensure coherence, in principle and in practice. It also describes typical ‘patterns’ to look out for, good and bad, and some real-life examples. In summary it will help people translate interest in Beyond Budgeting ideas into practical action and provides a methodology to help guide and coach companies through the transition.

Book Visual Strategy

Download or read book Visual Strategy written by John M. Bryson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-07-28 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strategic planning becomes visual with strategy maps and the tools, techniques, and guidance for turning them into effective action. Developed as a companion workbook to John Bryson's best-selling Strategic Planning in Public and Nonprofit Organizations, Visual Strategy: A Workbook for Strategy Mapping in Public and Nonprofit Organizations, goes beyond making the case for good and effective strategic planning to making strategy visual through effective strategy mapping. Strategy mapping prevents groups of people from talking over one another and going around in circles. It helps people speak and be heard, produce lots of ideas and understand how they fit together, make use of causal reasoning, and clarify ultimately what they want to do in terms of mission, goals, strategies, and actions. Strategy mapping can join process and content in such a way that good ideas worth implementing are found and the agreements and comments needed to implement them are reached. The result is living strategic plans that act as useful guides to action. With detailed examples, actual strategy maps, process guidelines and hand-drawn illustrations, the book will help leaders, managers, students and other professionals see patterns across mission, goals, strategies and actions while helping to identify areas of alignment and misalignment and determine, real time, where elements are needed, missing or not useful in a strategic plan. For leaders and managers of public and nonprofit organizations, facilitators and consultants, professors and students of strategic planning, strategic management, strategic mapping, and public policy, professional development workshops focused on strategic planning and strategy mapping.

Book My Own Life Map

    Book Details:
  • Author : Gregory Tyree
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2013-07-10
  • ISBN : 9781490526683
  • Pages : 226 pages

Download or read book My Own Life Map written by Gregory Tyree and published by . This book was released on 2013-07-10 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was during a difficult time in my life that I realized that I needed an effective model of life-focusing to guide me in finding direction in their lives. It was on a week-long vacation in Myrtle Beach that these thoughts materialized into a workable life-focusing model. Later I named this new model "My Own Life Focus," which is an eleven-step process fleshed out in five stages. This program has been published in book form, including a companion workbook, as well as a CD Audio Book (in two volumes) and MP3 downloads at Amazon.com. By distributing a pilot edition of the book to various friends and colleagues who promised to give me honest feedback, I was able to produce a high-quality book that has helped many people focus their lives and find more significant success. I knew as I was writing My Own Life Focus that I would eventually write two more volumes to complete what I call the My Own Life System. The first of these is the book you are reading, My Own Life Map, which will be followed by the final book in the series, My Own Life Time. (Ironically, I began writing this second volume during another week-long vacation in Myrtle Beach a year later.) This trilogy is necessary for several reasons. First, My Own Life Focus is a very-involved process that helps you focus on the big picture of your life. It ultimately helps you answer the question, "What should I be doing with my life." Think of this first book as dealing with the goal of establishing an ultimate destination for your life. While you do not need to read My Own Life Focus before reading the present volume, I am confident that you will better understand and apply the principles in this book if you read My Own life Focus first. Second, coming to terms with and deciding on your final destination is not practical without some kind of map to direct your journey. It is one thing to know that you want to go from New York to San Francisco; it is quite another to know how to get there. My Own Life Map does just that. Like the first book, the title is self-descriptive. While My Own Life Focus helps you focus your life for more significant success, My Own Life Map helps you map-out your journey which began with life-focusing. Think of this current stage as life-mapping. Finally, there is even one more step beyond life-focusing and life-mapping; you must engage in life-management. That is what the third installment of this series, My Own Life Time, will help you with. Life-management has to do with the day-to-day strategies, tactics, and habits that are necessary for you to successfully navigate to your ultimate destination. So the My Own Life System consists of three processes:1. Life-Focusing (My own Life Focus)This is an eleven-step process to help you know who you want to be and what you want to do with your life.2. Life Mapping (My Own Life Map)This is an eight-step strategic planning model to help you map-out your journey. 3. Life-Management (My Own Life Time)This last volume is an implementation tool to help you in the day-to-day management of your time, talents, and treasure. If you have made a decision concerning who you are and what you want to do, roll up your sleeves and dig in to the exciting process of life-mapping!

Book The Routledge Companion to Art in the Public Realm

Download or read book The Routledge Companion to Art in the Public Realm written by Cameron Cartiere and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This multidisciplinary companion offers a comprehensive overview of the global arena of public art. It is organised around four distinct topics: activation, social justice, memory and identity, and ecology, with a final chapter mapping significant works of public and social practice art around the world between 2008 and 2018. The thematic approach brings into view similarities and differences in the recent globalisation of public art practices, while the multidisciplinary emphasis allows for a consideration of the complex outcomes and consequences of such practices, as they engage different disciplines and communities and affect a diversity of audiences beyond the existing 'art world'. The book will highlight an international selection of artist projects that illustrate the themes. This book will be of interest to scholars in contemporary art, art history, urban studies, and museum studies.
