Book Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Alloys High Temperature Phase Transformation

Download or read book Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Alloys High Temperature Phase Transformation written by Shuming Pan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of high temperature phase transition of rare earth permanent-magnet alloys is revealed by photographs taken by high voltage TEM. The relationship between the formation of nanocrystal and magnetic properties is discussed in detail, which effects alloys composition and preparation process. The experiment results verified some presumptions, and were valuable for subsequent scientific research and creating new permanent-magnet alloys. The publication is intended for researchers, engineers and managers in the field of material science, metallurgy, and physics. Prof. Shuming Pan is senior engineer of Beijing General Research Institute of Non-ferrous Metal.

Book Film Synthesized Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems

Download or read book Film Synthesized Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specific results of this research include five unique results. (1) The elucidation of the concept of a growth coherence region as being pivotal for the growth of textured polycrystalline films. This concept allows the prediction of what texture modes would be possible for any new system that may be discovered. (2) For the very first time it was demonstrated that pulsed laser deposition can be used to grow highly textured high coercivity rare earth transition metal films with magnetic properties comparable to the best sputtered films. (3) It was shown that the simultaneous use of sputtering and pulsed laser deposition methods can be used to grow nanophase dispersed films with special magnetic and other properties. (4) A new type of magnetoresistive magnetic memory element operable at room temperature was demonstrated for specially deposited La-manganite films when used in conjunction with another magnetic film element. (5) A method was invented whereby particulate free films of a great many substances can be deposited by pulsed laser deposition.

Book Handbook of Giant Magnetostrictive Materials

Download or read book Handbook of Giant Magnetostrictive Materials written by Göran Engdahl and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-10-20 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Giant Magnetostrictive Materials contains the knowledge that a mechanical or an electrical engineer needs when considering the use of magnetostrictive materials in a construction project. The book covers the physical origin of giant magnetostriction, its manufacturing and metallurgy, and grain related processes under operation. Comprehensive descriptions of useful models of design methods and tools are given, including the performance of devices and systems comprised of magnetostrictive materials, considering the electrical, magnetic, mechanical, and thermal effects. The book covers all major characterization methods of giant magnetostrictive bulk materials, actuators, and systems. A structured inventory of current and emerging applications of giant magnetostrictive materials is given, covering areas such as sound and vibration sources, vibration control, motional control, material processing, and electromechanical converters. The final chapter offers an up-to-date review of the emerging giant magnetostrictive thin film technologies. The book also contains a market inventory with valuable contact information. Offers all necessary information for the reader to decide on the applicability of giant magnetostrictive material in a construction Allows readers to create their own computational design tools based on the model algorithms given in the book; specific programs are also proposed Gives the reader numerous pieces of advice and hints regarding the further details of construction design, pre-and detail engineering Provides the reader with information necessary to perform the needed experimental evaluation of materials and actuators in specific applications Guides the reader through current and potential areas of successful applications of giant magnetostrive materials Supplies the reader with the necessary contact information to act in the field of giant magnetostrictive materials applications

Book Direct Synthesis and Optimization of Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems

Download or read book Direct Synthesis and Optimization of Rare Earth Transition Metal Permanent Magnet Systems written by F. J. Cadieu and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Special sputtering methods have been used to synthesize rare earth transition metal films such as SmCo5, Nd2Fe14B, and several new compounds in the Sm-Ti-Fe system. Films have been synthesized with different crystal textures by varying the sputtering conditions. The magnetic properties observed have been found to be strongly dependent on the film texture. For example, SmCo5 films with a (200) texture exhibit intrinsic coercive forces, of 8 kOe, while (110) textured films show values of about 18 kOe. For the Nd2Fe14B compound films have been made which exhibit an easy axis of magnetization either in the film plane or out of the flm plane depending upon the crystal texturing of the films. In the film plane static energy products up to 21 MG-Oe have been observed in as sputtered films without any subsequent heat treatments in certain rare earth transition metal systems. For films containing only Sm, Ti, and Fe room temperature coercive force values up to 24 kOe have been observed. Films have also been made such that the magnetic properties are highly anisotropic in the plane of the film for certain amorphous systems. The incorporation of the coercive force magnetic films that have been sputter synthesized into several types of micron scale device geometries has been considered.
