This book was released on 2019-10-04 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there more to words than meets the eye? Let us tumble down the rabbit hole to explore the world of magic, words, and legalese, and I will show you proof that there is more to words than meets the eye. This magical journey will teach you how words can be used to empower or disempower you. Once you learn how powerful words are and know how to wisely apply them to your life, you can effectively use them to exercise your rights, manifest your desires, overcome your fears, achieve spiritual freedom, and motivate kings and governments to bow to you with awe and reverence. What Is Word Magic? Word magic is "the art of using sacred sounds and symbols, and hidden forces to direct and control energy to produce certain desired effects or marvels." All words have magic properties. However, certain words have more magic properties for the reason that they carry more energy and intention. This is why during magic rituals certain words are used more than others. Because word magic uses sacred sounds and symbols, and hidden forces to direct and control energy, it is one of the most effective tools for achieving desires, programming the mind, or changing reality. Its magic power to reprogram the mind, causing reality to change is one of the reasons that it is heavily used by corporations, such as religious institutions, banks, courts, and governments. Some of the word magic techniques that are used by corporations are shockingly revealed in this enlightening book. The empowering knowledge in Word Magic: The Powers and Occult Definitions of Words has the potential to unlock many doors of your mind, allowing you to explore a hidden world where you can use words to shape matter, control your destiny, and reprogram your mind. This enlightening book is not your average book because it explores magic and the power of words to the core of reality. • Publisher : Oxford University Press
  • Release : 2011-04-21
  • ISBN : 0199831688
  • Pages : 328 pages

Download or read book Ravished by Beauty written by Belden C. Lane and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2011-04-21 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this novel exploration of Reformed spirituality, Belden C. Lane uncovers a "green theology" that celebrates a community of jubilant creatures of all languages and species. Lane reveals an ecologically sensitive Calvin who spoke of himself as ''ravished'' by the earth's beauty. He speaks of Puritans who fostered a ''lusty'' spirituality in which Christ figured as a lover who encouraged meditation on the wonders of creation. He presents a Jonathan Edwards who urged a sensuous ''enjoyment'' of God's beauty as the only real way of knowing God. Lane argues for the ''double irony'' of Reformed spirituality, showing that Calvinists who often seem prudish and proper are in fact a people of passionate desire. Similarly, Reformed Christians who appear totally focused on divine transcendence turn out at times to be closet nature mystics, exulting in God's glory everywhere. Lane also demonstrates, however, that a spirituality of desire can be derailed, ending in sexual excess and pantheism. Ecologically, holy longing can be redirected from a contemplation of God's splendor in the earth's beauty to a craving for land itself, resulting in disastrous misuse of its resources. Between the major chapters of the book are engaging personal essays drawn from the author's own love of nature as a Reformed Christian, and providing a thoughtful discussion of contemporary issues of species diversity and the honoring of an earth community.

Book Exorcising our Demons Magic Witchcraft and Visual Culture in Early Modern Europe

Download or read book Exorcising our Demons Magic Witchcraft and Visual Culture in Early Modern Europe written by Charles Zika and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of sixteen essays deals with the role of magic, religion and witchcraft in European culture, 1450-1650, and the critical role of the visual in that culture. It covers the relationship of humanism and magic; the intersection of religious ritual, orthodoxy and power; the discursive links between the visual language of witchcraft and contemporary anxieties about sexuality and savagery. The introductory chapter urges us to exorcise our tendency to reduce historical experiences of the demonic to forms of unreason created in a distant past. Only then can we understand the role of the demonic in our historical definition of the self and the other. Richly illustrated with 112 images, the book will interest historians and art historians.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this innovative study, Horsley builds on his earlier works concerning the problematic and misleading categories of "magic" and "miracle" to examine in-depth the meaning and importance of the narratives of healing and exorcism in the Gospels. Incorporating his work on oral performance and turning to important works in medical anthropology, a new image emerges of how these narratives help us re-evaluate Jesus's place in first-century Galilee and Judea. In his exorcisms and healings, Jesus-in-interaction was empowering the villagers in their struggles for renewal of personal and communal dignity in resistance to invasive Roman rule.
